@@oldaussiecoot you bet!!
thank you! Worked like a charm
@@masalser1 awesome! Wish you didn’t have to do it but glad you don’t have to have a headache anymore ha ha
It works !

What are your thoughts of Aspen fuel for blowers and trimmers? I use the 800 mainly for snow removal and minimally in the summer. I have been experimenting with it a couple gallons a year to clean the carb out (sales person suggested this, if I'm not using it all the time?) I can't justify the $50/gal price to exclusively use it in Canada lol Do you think that if I bounce back and forth with premium fuel paired with the stihl oil, then occasionally use the Aspen 2 stroke, it may mess up the engine?
How to get the spring off?
@@ronburhans5788 you can do the exact same process only in reverse. Use string to pull it off or a pair of pliers or vice grips
Wow, cool! Ty 😊
@@ronburhans5788 you bet!
Tell us about the head, what's with the show?
@@erikbostrom.9318 what’s with the snarky comment?
Brilliant tip - wouldn't have been able to fit belt without this, it was too tight. Made spring puller with a loop of binder twine passed through short length of plastic tube which I used as a handle to pull with. Worked a treat.
@@WheelsforAll perfect 👌🏽
I use clthes line rope
Thanks...I have a starting point!
Nice tip. Dig it!
Thanks so much for this tip! Single mom and my belt slipped cutting grass that was too high, couldn’t have pulled that tension so easily!!
@@christyshaw8825 you are welcome!
Brilliant field repair tip! thanks!
I know right! So simple yet saves a lot of time and headache
Mow on brother!
Thanks brother!
Thank you!
…Best hack in years!
Thanks brother! It’s the simple things in life!
Muy bien gracias
Your welcome
Thank you
Wow I'm going to do that my friend thank you
You are welcome glad it helped you out!
Thank you. I spent a half an hour trying to get this thing on. The strain works so well.
Come on! Its the simple things in life!
Man, I am going to do this. My 800 is doing the same thing as yours was. Easy start my ass haha
I can’t believe this actually worked but it did. I’ve been struggling with this thing for 2 seasons now. Bought the part today and sure enough. Started second pull ice cold. Thanks again.
Come on man! So glad it worked for you and helped you out! Check out a few of my other videos if they apply to you. Appreciate the feedback.
THX for the Info, nice tool! Have happy XMas, greetings from Germany 😊
You bet man, you as well!
my 800 wont start with the regular recoil. under a year old. started bogging first, now no start. been with dealer for months
Now, how do you take it off? :-)
How do you take what off?
I think they were asking about the spring. Yours came off easily because the belt jumped. How would you take the spring off the peg if the belt was still attached? My belt is looking ratty, and I'd like to swap it out before it breaks. Thank you for the video!
This was a total life saver! Thank you! As a 61 yr old widow, I have 25 acres to maintain, and I have always struggled when the belt randomly comes off. This was a breeze!
You are welcome! Glad it helped you! If it’s happening frequently may check to see if you need a new belt or if the spring/tensioner may be worn out.
I bet its the spring, since it just pops off now and then although I rarely hit anything. The belt looks fine, unless it stretches with no signs of wear. @@brewersblade4887
You go girl! Ima sixty something myself with a disabled hubby. My belt just came off so here I am. Reading your comment gives me hope... LOL
Thank you! Mines brand new… this starter sucks balls!
Thank you Mr Blade!!
You bet brother
Thanks for the vid! Mine has been in the shop 3 or 4 times. Over a $1000 in this stupid thing now with parts and labor, nothing was under warranty for us I guess. Just ordered that part number that you shared and I'm $50.01 out the door with shipping. Looking forward to hopefully being able to use this thing on a consistent basis.
Right on! Reply once you got it in and let me know how it’s working for you.
Thanks for the awesome tip on how to hook the spring!
Absolutely! Glad it helped.
It looks like there is no way to tighten your belt without replacing the spring as it stretches with age.
The Gravleys have an automatic tensioner for the belts. But overall no issue with belts it just so happened to get a stick jammed in there that caused it to jump off.
Thanks for the info
You bet brother glad it helped.
I’m trying to put mine back together, it only runs for about 20 minutes and dies off, while I have it apart, I’m going to use your helpful hack.
Just got mine tried using it three different days and jobs I must say I hate the br800c!! the regular br800 is solid
Yea man it’s awesome when it works but the majority of people I’ve seen have had issues with it.
Don’t know how that would change it from a starting problem ? I have problems with mine too ! Even when warm I have to start it with the choke on or will not start ! Pain in the ass !
Robert I understand your pain! I’d say the overall point to the switch is the fact that it simply just makes an easier/faster start. The side start recoil system in my opinion doesn’t seem to turn over the piston as much as it should or at least over time it ends up that way. I feel you get way more of a revolution on the regular recoil pull than the side start.
@@brewersblade4887 maybe it requires a greater pull now due to age. Try servicing the carburetor in case that’s what’s causing the delay in start.
Great . To the point . Tnx
Thanks brother appreciate the support!
Wow thanks for that video I love everything about this blower except the side pull just like you I loved it at first but it became a pain to the point I was going to sell it also but now I will try this thanks again
I hear you man! Thanks for the support and glad it helped you out!
Question, did you maintenance the machine? Makes a difference…!
Yes I did say in the video it was in the shop about 3 times. I change plugs, air filter and adjust the valves in addition to having it in the shop. This is just not a very good design in my opinion.
I also properly maintain all my equipment I am owner operator and I am religious about maintenance my equipment but this side pul is just too inconsistent for me thanks again
Interesting...but never had a problem starting my 800c, either hot or cold.
same
Gary glad yours has been smooth! Unfortunately many others have had issues like mine.
Thanks for validating me! I never have issues starting any of my stihl professional equipment, but this is pain in the ass! I’m not happy with spending another 70 bucks. 😒
Yea I wasn’t too happy either but I decided to just go ahead and switch it out rather than buying a whole new blower for another $600.
Why didn’t you just get the 800 C pull mechanism? There was something obviously wrong with your one. Most likely covered by warranty
Did you watch the full video? I did touch on that. I got it and it worked for a while but I have had 2 different side start recoils and none of them fixed the issue. Had it in the shop many times. I have seen many others with the same problem. This was the most cost effective way to fix it.
Oh yeah I'll show my boss so this thing can go away
Heck yea bro! Glad it helped you!
good video thx Ed Loretto Ontario Canada
Ed Edmund thank you, glad it helped you!
I had the thought the other day when I was mowing that you could make videos for how to work on lawn mowers.
Haha I started this UA-cam a few years ago and just keep so busy that I forget to make content. But I’m thinking about doing more equipment reviews and and yea more how toos!
Where the rest of the video? 😂😂😂
