The union trades provide a path to upper management, business ownership, entrepreneurship just as any college would. They only thi...

Very good. 3rd year Apprentice Joaquin Garcia, Life is hard enough, but to have a newborn and a new home and to have the mental dedication to stay focused with an education for a potential future of being able to support a family. Excellent choice and stick with it. You will go far to possibly Forman pay and running your own business.
Very cool!
She has musical degree but is in sales...yep that seems to be the thing going on where people can't find a job to match their major. Quite a few kids are looking to the trades vs college, so it may be better to join a union and get schooling through there while working the exact job your learning about rather than go to college.
I tried to get into the elevator trade, but they didn't want me. I was in my 30's, a navy vet with around 8 years background as a licensed factory electrician/mechanic who worked in plant maintenance. I had PLC and installation experience, plus some construction experience. You'd think the elevator people would have gladly taken me, and I sent out several resumes but never heard a thing. So I struck out on my own as an electrical service contractor with 3 helpers and I'm proud to say I made a good career and 6 figure income, with full credit for the office work to my wife Susie
You comment this under every elevator mechanic video dude
My life is better because I married a Union Millwright. He died in his 70's. (He made me furious when he did that. 39 years of marriage, and you effin' die on me?) I have dignity because of Union benefits.
Somewhere between superman and the Maytag repair man.
So TLDR they are a large equipment mechanic

Union electricians are the worst. I consistently negotiate better for myself than the union even could. The union tried to get me to join and i laughed at them...
Clicked on this wanting to know what millwrights do, and still don't know.

My buddy is a millwright and I’m a stationary engineer at a power plant…We still can’t figure out the difference. Lol
A millwright is a boiler maker that had a sledge hammer dropped on his head 😂
How much does a millwright make these days? I see reddit posts with all kinds of crazy salaries posted. Like 160k a year, 200k a year.
That’s about right depending on where you live. We make $165k base (without overtime) Full medical, dental, etc. retirement will pay about the same as what you make when you leave
@@Boots67bro where do you live I’m ready to move and change my life Jesus I need to get out of Florida
I know someone making just shy of 400k cad before taxes
Is the death rate high because that’s what worries me the most I’m not trying to fall to my death get crushed or die from electrocution 👀 someone put me at ease here please
Being a laborer sucks balls lol and pay is terrible for the amount of work you have to do aswell
Would being 33 be too old to start?
I’m 31 I started 5 months ago 🤷 why not try?
@@NunzioBustacuccinope. I’m 35 and just starting
Go down to your local hall and get started! Never too late to get started.
I'm a Millwright and Training officer with many years of experience. I'm from South Africa where where the Millwright trade does both mechanical and electrical. I am looking for work in the USA. Any advice?
Stay in Africa we got enough people here already not enough jobs
2232 in Houston.
1:10 bro getting himself confused with the boilermakers
I was about to say the same thing. He also mentioned hanging iron. Maybe different down there, but up here in Northwest Indiana we don't touch pipes or hang iron, etc. That's what pipefitters and ironworkers are for.
Beware of welding galvanized metal, need respirator, be safe
I whold like to traing this job
This is so VERY wonderful I can’t wait to tell my son
Ive been union for 9 years now, i will never go back to non union.
Union proud 👍
Union forever! Trying to get into Local 19 in Seattle right now.
I work with a few guys like that😂
✋ 'PromoSM'
Am currently searching a millwright apprenticeship I have N6 in Mechanical engineering
That is the dumbest question ever.
Would sheet metal working teach you how to make things like automotive parts such as fenders, roofs etc? I'm thinking about taking some classes or going to school to learn that stuff
😊😊😊😅😅😅
American Made Manufacturing is what has made America 🇺🇸 great for the economy, job creation and ingenuity in custom products. #AmericanMeatManufacturing #MadeInAmerica #AmericanProducts.
I’m 18 and recently got a job in metal fabrication and I’m really nervous. All I can think about is messing up and it feels like everything is going to go wrong.😅
How is it a year later?

The Elevator trade is the top paying construction trade but one of their cons is that most of the mechanics are racists, believe me I know, I heard them say derogatory words to apprentices to get them to push back and quit the apprenticeship program because they prefer only one race in the union, again I know, I've done seen and heard it. If you take away those types of people from the union, this local would be top notch, the best union to join. Not sure how the other locals are but this one sure has its share of bad apples
Lean in real close here buddy: *everyone is racist*
What union
@@footygoodness explain how a black person can deny you of wealth building opportunities like white controlled unions do?
Yea ....that's what a millwright do 😊
So badass. I’m getting ready to start at local 20 in Evansville Indiana and I’m so freakin excited! 25 with a wife and 2 kiddos. Can’t wait to give them a better life
What school did you go to I heard calumet welding school in Griffith is a good one
I was part of local 20, laid off for calling the union hall for a not getting paid. Foreman said that I “ratted”. Complete Waste of time.
I am currently researching my local in hopes of joining the millwrights once I graduate high-school. However their website seems really outdated so it's hard to find contact information, descriptions, ect. Thanks for making this
Where you stay at currently ?
dont give up
The best thing you could do would be to stop by their hall and ask when they’re accepting applications. Goodluck brother.
