Navel Lazer is not a bad quirk. It's just that he wasn't born with it hence his body is not suited to the quirk. We already learned it from the anime so it's not a spoiler that he got this quirk from AFO

Mr satan lacks ki control. Chaozu has no physic abilities but has esp. Yamacha is dumb most of his deaths were preventable. Videl is just a plot device dbz need more strong female characters. Master roshi is the best teacher and fighter. Tian is a great student and extremely powerful. Krillen is the strongest human hands down, he is also smart and brave has great ki control and physical power. Ub doesn't really count but he is a great character either way.

Mr Satan wouldn't be able to beat Goku much less Roshi in the 1st tournament, lacks the ki techniques.
