Honestly, if and when the day comes when Scotsman is finally retired and placed at some Herotage Railway or stays at the NRM, I hope they restore it back to it LNER Apple Green and Two Tenders, being able to see that with my own eyes in personal would be amazing

Ahh noise complaints… New Jersey Transit had this problem back in the 80s and 90s. Their GE U34CH diesels were partly phased out due to noise complaints. I’m not sure how the 68’s provide amenities for the Nova 3’s, but the U34’s engines powered and pulled-pushed the train. Even at standstill, they ran constantly at a mid-range rpm while in Passenger Standby mode, whereas their Freight Run position would have them idle lower RPM and “throttle up” like most diesels. The replacement EMD’s had the power system split up, with a separate generator proving power while the engine could idle or throttle up. Once there were enough, the GE’s only ran rush hour and would deadhead back to the other end of the line for the last two or three trips

These freight and light-engine movements should all be using the Carlisle Avoiding LIne. Only passenger trains should pass through Carlisle Citadel. Bring back the avoiding line.
