This guy dropped the soap many, many times FOR SURE 🤣
We saw 2 Right Whales and a baby very close to the shore North of Daytona Beach several years ago. What a rare sight.
Where can I watch full movie? When I look at right whales I want to cry :(
Did they not swear Alligiance to Canada. Are they not now Canadians?
Amazing 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Incredible
These near-perfect creatures have suffered and continue to suffer, and they do so unnecessarily. It is beyond unfortunate that theirs is a physical and emotional torment that often ends in their death. What of their children and their families? The pain does not stop at the individual’s passing. Sadly, devastatingly, their plight is at the hands of who else? Yes, it is us of course. Who else would it be?
I'm glad he got out. 14 is a child. It would be if he were white. No one dieed. Kyle Rittenhouse was called a kid in his trial, that's how ya'll are tho
The mom have so many excuses but she failed to realize she failed as a mom. She was on drugs and never home to support her kids . She got her life together now but the damage is done. For what her son did I do agree it’s kind of harsh
kind of? rapist and pedophiles get a slap on the wrist and this kid gets decades, come on now? this is clearly racism
Such important work. We need all to understand what’s at stake.
this is a incredible video
How do you know that 'the reproduction level isnt where it should be " ? How far back do your studies on northern right whale calving rates go ?
I worked for the canadian whale institute for 3 years , I watched in horror as they failed to disentangle several animals only later to find out that they wanted the whales to remain entangled to gain attention for their cause . No suffering whales =fewer donations , its that simple
How did you find out?
Another grifter looking to profit from the 2017 situation , makes me sick
You are part of the gearless program because you are getting paid to do so , Martin . 2017 was 6 years ago , the problem has been addressed , grow a set of balls and and do the right thing !!
I worked for this lady ,this group are a lying , grifting , ruthless bunch of narcissists that are out to feed their own egos and addictions with your money whilst using right whales as their vehicle to do so .
There was a right whale spotted in the Hampton Roads area.
Any time Oil and gas companies wanted to do offshore seismic exploration, most, if not all environmental activists and biologists were against it. The oil companies excuse was that there's no evidence that seismic testing has killed marine mammals. Doesn't that sound familiar ? Not surprising considering the connection between the oil industry and the current offshore wind. Now this brings me to Stormy Mayo. What do you think his opinion is on current offshore wind seismic testing considering he said a few years ago? "We think seismic testing is damaging , not just to whales, but to much of the marine ecosystem
To many whales are dying. The rest are suffering in Captivity. I will definitely watch this.
Is he free now?
Yes, he was released in 2021
Interesting, I'll probably watch the documentary and feel good about myself. But in all honesty perhaps we should all get off the computer, typing here on youtube, thinking we're actually making any sort of difference (read: zero difference) and go out there and do something about it...
Its illegal for you to do something , only the grifters that are tugging on your heartstrings are allowed to help , many whales entangled in canadian waters were ignored so they would show back up in american waters for attention , attention = donation dollars ....... instead of helping whales these groups are building an industry around their suffering , I worked for one of these groups for 3 years until I couldnt stomach it anymore
Where can I watch the full documentary?
They want to put a wind farm of New England! What interests are behind it I do not know what they are after the lobster fisherman now. That will expedite putting in the windmills! The noise and boat traffic could cause them to go extinct! Approximately 350 left in the world!
Shhhhh. Don't talk about Right whales and possible damage from ocean windmills. Oceana may get upset. After all, they say there's "no proof" offshore wind may cause damage to Whales/Right whales, The hypocrisy is that there's no proof the Maine lobster fishery has caused a right whale fatality. but hey, Oceana and/or NOAA says it could, so there's that.
ρгό𝔪σŞm
"The real culprit in this is rope" Why did he stop there? Why didn't he finish and state the real culprit as in Rope from only one particular fishery ,namely the Snow Crab fishery in the Gulf of St Lawrence that's responsible for all right whale entanglement deaths. That's a legitimate question. Fun facts . There has never been an entanglement, let alone a death attributed to the lobster industry in the Gulf of St Lawrence where Right Whales sometimes do get entangled. There has never been a entanglement death attributed to the Maine lobster industry. EVER. But sshhhh, don't tell the general public the facts.
Because in this case absence of evidence is not evidence of absence... by the time they get to investigating an entanglement the gear is pretty much unidentifiable. And even when it is, determining its origin is impossible in the vast majority of cases. That may change with new gear marking regs, but markings aren't going to help an entangled whale any. Rope-on-demand systems will allow fishermen to fish, and whales to survive, in the same areas.
This is a great resource that does a good job of setting out the realities and facts: www.mainerightwhalefacts.org/mythsandfacts
@@SherylFink " by the time they get to investigating an entanglement the gear is pretty much unidentifiable." Lololol. Where'd you hear that one? Knowlton or Abel? The very large rope used in the snow crab fishery is EASILY identifiable in images or real time by anyone familiar with the fisheries compared to the much smaller rope used in the lobster industry (anywhere from 3/8th down to 1/4 inch) Whether you want to disagree or not, it doesn't change the fact that the rope doesn't magically SHRINK over time. Marine biologists. DFO employees, fishery officers, Transport Canada workers and crab fishermen up here in the Gulf of St Lawrence know where the problem arises as far as entanglements go and will admit this
@@SherylFink And one other thing, Abel went so far as to give a link to a study regarding the test strength of older rope retrieved from entangled right whales. This was after it was worn/weaker and on whales for who knows how long or how old it was , as polypropylene rope degrades over time and weakens. Maybe he should have thought before sharing that link. The older ropes retrieved from the right whales were almost THREE times stronger than what NEW 3/8th lobster is when using kilonewton measurement. Oooops. But shhhh. Don't tell anyone . Lets not lose the narrative that all fisheries are affecting right whales and not just the snow crab fishery.
@@HitPlayProductions What that link does not clarify are the entanglements in the Canadian Gulf of St Lawrence, but migrating south into US waters for the winter. They get listed as a death in US waters.
To bad Canada would not get their heads out of their azzes. Every whale they kill, another is counted to the Maine fisheries. And Maine has done many things to stop killing these Whales even though No Right whale has ever been killed by entanglement in Maine waters.
And in Maine because of these faults so called facts the Lobster Industry in Maine is about to Die. Maine fishermen and women have done everything that has been asked of them. In the past 18 years there has been NO entanglements of Right Whales in Maine waters. And there has NEVER been a Maine fishing gear engagement that has caused a death to a right whale. What your groups are doing to Maine fishermen is wrong, and based on Bad science. Period
HOW CAN PEOPLE DONATE?
The Southern Gulf is definitely is a hotspot for copepods, hence why the Right Whales frequent this area. Unfortunately, it is offshore and where the snow crab fishery takes place along with heavy shipping as cargo ships frequent the area on their ventures towards the Saint Lawrence River. Also cruise ships along with Oil tankers to a lesser degree.
I'm not sure the age of Mr. Mayo or his father , but the northern right whales numbers were at a historical low of 100 animals by 1930 before a slight rebound according to Dr. Vicki Ellen Szabo. Other sources also claim low numbers as well. According to NOAA, by 1890, they were almost extinct. So the question arises, how old was Mr. Mayo's father to see Right Whales "in fair numbers" as is stated ? . Unless of course he is wrong. And if he is indeed wrong , what else is he wrong about?
I'm surprised vessel strikes were brought up.. Also, I have a question. In this documentary, is the term "entanglement" ever defined to a certain fishery or will it continue to be lumped into all fisheries ?
I’m Maine it has been 18 years since there was. A entanglement. And that 1 whale was freed and unharmed. There has never been a recorded Right Whale death in Maine waters ever. The true endangered thing is the Lobster industry in Maine and all the people and businesses that it supports. All for bad science and the Wind Industry. It is not right what is happening to the people of Maine.
!8 years ago was the last entanglement in Maine waters, that Whale was freed of the rope and was not harmed. There has Never been a recorded whale death due to Lobster Gear ever in Maine waters. Maine has the safest fisheries for whale in the world. And yet our Lobster Industry is about to been destroyed by Bad ones sided science. It is just wrong.
It isn't even really one sided science. It's blatant lies and deception. NOAA, Oceana Inc, and Marine Biologists etc. all know where the problem lies. ALL deaths from entanglements are the result of the Canadian Snow Crab industry up in the Gulf of St. Lawrence. There's a reason why Seawatch listed the Maine lobster industry as sustainable as late as 2014, but not now. Follow the $$.
@@mannycheese1166 Another reason is Big Wind wants the Waters off the coast of Maine.
@@stewartatwood7271 Yep. That's where the dollars are coming from. Environment America is ihding their funding unlike most other environmental groups. There's one name stands out in all this. He worked for gas and oil in the 90's and early 2000's, then jumped directly to Environment America, then a few years ago to Dianond Offshore Wind. That's the company wants all Maine waters. It's so blatant for anyone with common sense to see.
This is what is really endangered these peoples lives and the economy of Coastal Maine. ua-cam.com/video/wYgqh2NQ46c/v-deo.html
In Maine they are trying to destroy the Lobster Industry in Maine. Even though there has Never Been a Death cause but Lobster Fishing and there has Only been 1 entanglement in the past 18 years. Why kill a industry with a record like that. Maine fishermen and women have done everything asked of them. And they don't even see these whales in Maine waters. For for Maine anyway this fake science is a crock of shit.
Can't wait to see this film!!!!!!!!!!!!
And here in Maine they want to destroy the Lobster Industry because of the Right Whale and Big Of Shore Wind. In Maine Waters there has not been a entanglement since 2004. That whale was freed and was unharmed. 18 years later Lobster fishermen have done everything they have been asked to do. and there have no entanglements. And never has there been a reported death of a Right Whale in Maine waters. Yet they want to destroy a industry that supports 1000's of people in Maine. It is not about the Whales here it is about Big Off Shore Wind. If that comes in then you will see some dead whales of every kind.
Oh my I would do anything for you
COULD A CONCENTRATED PASTE OF CLOVE COMPOUND WITH SMALL AMOUNTS OF CYANID BE APPLIED TO KILL THE CYAMIDS..I THINK.BLACK KNIGHT HAS A GOOD APPLICATION MEDIUM TO SEAL ROOFING IN MINUS BELOW TEMPERATURES..?
WOW... what a story... i would like to say that the judge on this case was so heartless... i could see in his eyes that he was not interested in this case at all... Human greed destroying environment #savetherightwhale
Anyone here since the news Snow cone is now an emaciated mess covered in whale lice and even more fishing gear, on the verge of death, off the shore of Massachusetts?
And still waiting for her to either be spotted again or sadly found dead
This is INEXCUSABLE!!!!!! 😡🤬, Now she's off Nantucket, with MORE NETS around her!!!! She's Dying NOW!!!!!! They said she won't survive, she sinks now, and CAN'T DIVE!!! 😟😕😢,.. I hope 🙏 They can TRACE those NETS to the EXACT FISHERMEN!!!! They need to be charged and PROSECUTED!!!! NO MORE FISHING NETS WHATSOEVER IN OPEN OCEAN WATERS, OR ANYWHERE!!!! FUCKING HUMANS KILL EVERYTHING!!!!
All fishing gear from the lobster fishery in the US and Canada along with Canadian snow crab gear is marked for identification. NOAA knows this every time a Right Whale death is investigated. Almost every entanglement death (Except one from a trawl net) is attributed to the Canadian snow crab fishery in the Canadian Gulf of St Lawrence . And for the record, ship strikes kill more right whales than anything.
We didn’t understand GW sharks until they started tagging. Why hasn’t anyone thought of that yet? If we tag RW we might find they mingle with the southern population which could explain unstable numbers. It’s not science until you use all available tools to solve the problem.
"We didn’t understand GW sharks until they started tagging" Weird statement. What do you even mean by "we didn't understand" ? Yeah, Ocearch tagging white sharks did show some migratory pattern, but what did they show that we didn't "understand" . Before they tagged these sharks, it's not like these biologists didn't know where to go to tag them..
They could easily tag these whales , they dont because the information gathered would debunk their own narrative
Hello! Where is the documentary available to watch? Thank you!
So why can't my daughter see this film for free? Are you just for profit or do you truly want to spread the idea of saving the planet to coming generations? Do not become what Greenpeace once became...
Speaking of profit, If one digs deep and follows the $$ trail and who is funding Ocean Inc, Environment America and other environmental groups over the right whale issue. it becomes evident what their motives are. There's a reason why Seawatch , a branch of the Monterrey Bay Conservancy Group listed the Maine Lobster industry (Canadian lobster as well) as sustainable as little as 6 years ago, and now all of a sudden they're red listed this year, even though there has NEVER been a death attributed to that lobster industry or even an entanglement in almost 20 years in Maine or a death or entanglement in the Gulf of St Lawrence lobster fishery EVER. That rare and only Whale entangled in Maine broke free and was fine as lobster industry uses small weak rope vs where the problem always lies, the Canadian snow crab fishery with the heavy ropes used and in areas where whales feed on Copepods (unlike lobster industry) Yes , it is mans responsibility to fix problems like the right whale issue or any other environmental issue, but it has to be done in an honest and fair way with truth and transparency. That is not the case happening now though.. For example, Irving oil pays their yearly hush money to the IFAW , even though their ship strikes caused 3 whale deaths the last decade or so. Also I'd like to be a fly on the wall at an Oceana Inc(Lobbying group for offshore wind) board meeting, as I truly believe that if they had the choice to close one fishery, they would no doubt chose the Maine lobster fishery over the Canadian Snow Crab Fishery in the Gulf of St Lawrence, even though there has never been a death attributed to the Lobster fishery and every death from entanglement is attributed to the snow crab fishery. There's a reason for why they would chose that.
I worked for the canadian whale institute for 3 years , your daughter cant see this film because the "right people " need to profit from it . The problem has been mitigated and efforts are working well , save your money !!
@@mannycheese1166 you are dead on ! In 2017 , without warning , right whales started traveling to northern NB to feed , fishermen were caught off guard and many got entangled , fishermen and scientists combined forces and took care of the problem , what we are seeing now is grifting and misinformation from the groups involved . I worked for the Canadian whale institute for three years and was fired for questioning Moira Brown about safety issues and watching money disappear .
@@scottfitzgerald1167 if Brown is anything like Stormy Mayo and Amy Knowlton, she's dishonest. The silence from these supposed protectors of whales regarding the offshore seismic testing is pathetic..just go back a few years ago (2018 )and read what Mayo , Greenpeace and many others stated regarding seismic testing when it was gas and oil doing the testing. It's almost like these clowns want to believe the powerful seismic testing used for big wind is somehow different.
whales are magnificent and so underrated
Looking forward to watch this !! God bless and stay safe.. from another Whale watcher/rescuer 🐋 Westcoast - South Africa 🇿🇦
Tow line from a recreational craft or a ship not fishing gear 🤦♂️
According to scientists and researchers who encountered her, her initial entanglement was with hundreds of feet of thick, heavy fishing line. Though some has been removed, some remains embedded and trailing from her upper jaw.
This is great news for Maine Lobstermen. Considering they do not use thick or heavy ropes in their gear and banned this large floating polymer rope decades ago we can hopefully look to other fisheries to do better at eliminating thick floating rope and use Maine Lobsterfishermen as an gold standard example with their breakaway ropes, weak lines and removal of 30,000 feet of end lines in their waters resulting in ZERO right whales deaths and ZERO right whale entanglements.
@@JenniferSytsma They lie about Maine fishing Never has a Right Whale death happened in Maine waters and there has not been a entanglement in 18 years. The only thing in danger of extinction in Maine Waters is the Lobster Fishing Industry, because of environmental lies, and Money from Big Off Shore wind.
@@HitPlayProductions "According to scientists and researchers who encountered her, her initial entanglement was with hundreds of feet of thick, heavy fishing line." Just like EVERY entanglement death that has taken place. ALL heavy line used in the snow crab fishery and all from snow crab gear in the Gulf of St, Lawrence . Marine biologists in Canada I've spoken with know this. Crab fishermen themselves admit this. Anyone with knowledge looking at images of entanglements knows this as well. But I don't expect a response from u if u are a pawn for Daimond offshore wind, Oceana Inc, or Environment America.
I just watched the panel discussion about the right whales and I want to thank all six of you for a wonderful, heartfelt, hopeful, interesting interview. My hats off to all of you. I live on the west coast and the other day had the honour of watching Orcas swim by our urban Victoria shore. As I walked away I wondered if the whales knew how much joy they bring to us. We don't have right whales where I live, however, I support the life of all whales and our beautiful oceans. Thank you again.
