Sending unit isn't grounded

Please explain wiring

Maybe the gauge is in Antartica at minus 180dc so it will take time to reach positive 100dc in 2 days or so keep boiling

I hooked up the negative to the sending unit and grounded the sensor on the car. Still does not work. Checked twice all connections. Needle 120⁰C

I can say thank you because I needed to see what the three connections on the bottom of the gauge were. I got one that had no instructions and no markings. This helped me with what I needed. I understand what the others are saying with grounding the body of the sensor but I didn't need to worry about that part anyway, it was a retro-fit.

you missed a step. The sender has to be part of the circuit. you need to ground the base of the sensor also. That is why you are getting no reading.

The hot wire is the wire going into the gauge. The ground is the cylinder head or in this case the pot. No ground wire to the pot and the juice can't flow.
