West Virginia | Late Season Whitetail Deer Rifle Hunt | Paps Gun and Birthday Hunt | 2024
In this video I have the privilege of hunting with youth hunter Blake Lauer and his father Matt Lauer. Blake is trying to celebrate his birthday with a harvest using his late Grandpa's "Pap" 308. Blake is very patient and his patience pays off as his makes a perfect shot on a doe with his Pap's passed down rifle. Great job Blake.

Big Mature Ohio 13 Point Buck Archery Harvest | Self-Filmed | Two Year Quest

In this video I am able to tell the story of a two year quest to harvest a big mature Ohio buck with my bow. Move forward to 2024 and I start getting photos of the same buck now a 13 point and I move in to hunt him on November 6, 2024. I was fortunate to harvest him on the f...

Good idea with the ammo box but why don't you show how you connect it to the camera. That's what I was looking for. How do you connect it to the camera in lieu of the batteries? Thank you
@@highway20ride checkout herd360. They offer cable systems for DIY external battery systems utilizing the ammo box. Just make sure it is the right cable for your camera plug.
@@highway20ride you connect their cable to battery with alligator clips and other end plugs into the external jack of the camera.
I ordered this weaver mount for my mossberg 500 and the packaging even says that’s what it’s for but it shipped to me with the Remington hardware FML
@@officialPROCLUBGOD no idea. Fits my gun perfect for what I ordered it for.

The episode turned out great! Sure appreciate you doing this for us! We will always have this awesome moment documented. Blake spent a ton of time in the woods with his pap and I know how much this meant to him. Keep up the good work buddy!!

In a class if one works faster than another the slower one won’t have any effect
@@frankspivey3920 I’m not exactly sure what you’re saying, but one is specific for grasses and the other for broadleafs. Clethodim for grasses and butyrac for broadleafs. Clethodim has no effect on broadleafs and vice versa for butyrac and grasses. Appreciate you watching and commenting.
@ gotcha. What I was speaking of in a herbicide class teacher corrected a farmer for spraying 2 chemicals that killed same thing one being faster than another the slower one doesn’t have any or little effect effect

I like to think about what I did wrong and did right. Right: watching the deers response after shot and checking for exit wound, backing out initially, seeking advice from friends not emotionally connected, taking things very slow/easy and quiet, gaining permission from neighbors prior to picking up the trail in case he gets off the property I have permission, backing out a second time. Wrong: wish I would have given him the full expected time suggested initially just in case.
So I have made these boxes too. One thing to remember is Tactacam cameras will run a 12v battery down to under 8 volts before the camera dies. You might not be able to recover that battery at that point. I am ever so slowly recharging one as we speak for that very reason. I had to start with very low amperage and work my way up. Life batteries with a battery maintenance system built in are a better idea so the battery shuts off before critical low voltage. But that will also shorten the working time of that battery. Nothing is perfect but the fun is in finding something that works! Thanks for the video!
@@mosquitok833 can also consider lithium batteries. As you said my batteries will get run down, at times I will put two in series to recover/recharge. So I do try to proactively rotate them for charging.
In all reality moving a similar size antenna just a few feet away is probably just marketing. The antenna is no larger and has no electronic boosting. Makes sense

Look for the nearest dense thick brush, they will seek secure cover.
I like the TP idea. I also leave an extra flight light at the deers location when I locate it so that when I have to go back to my truck to leave my weapon and secure a drag to retrieve the deer 🦌 I’m able to locate it quickly and sometimes even have a more direct route back in and out of the woods.
@@glorybound7599 we did the same with my boys deer this year to make getting back to the trail quick and easy.
I’m pretty good at tracking blood trails. That said I found myself a few years ago trying to locate a doe that crashed only 20 yards from where I had shot her. I wasn’t seeing much of a blood trail and by the time I waited to insure she was dead it had gotten dark. I called back to camp for some assistance in locating the animal and the friend who assisted me asked the direction of travel and what part of the body I thought I hit the deer. When I told him that it might have been a high shoulder shot he immediately began to look, not at the ground but, at the brush at a level equal to the height of the shoulder of the deer 🦌. Blood was everywhere and the deer 🦌 was less than 10 yards away from when we were standing.

why not connect a solar panel?
@@thomascoenen5845 I have solar panels, but they are only good or long lasting that is in open/full sun areas to stay charged. Most of my camera locations are in areas with tree canopies and the 12 volt lasts much longer and addresses shaded areas.
