The 2024 GR Supra is a good BMW, but a better Toyota.
45 Years ago, the Supra was born. Well, the Celica Supra, but you get the point.
The MKV Supra was met with much criticism after it was announced that it would be manufactured and developed in large partnership with BMW. Despite the overall design being completed by or heavily influenced by Toyota, its German roots are not in the slightest bit hidden or forgotten - with little bits of its Dutch heritage sprinkled through out like stray pieces of spätzle.
I got this car through the #toyotavehicleloan program, so a huge thank you to Toyota for giving me access to the car!

The 2024 GR Corolla Premium is a fever dream.

#toyotavehicleloan A couple months back, I was loaned a 2024 GR Corolla Premium to test and review. There are things I loved, things I loved less, but all in all it was a delight to drive. What do you want to know about the GR Corolla? . . . Follow Me On Instagram! @lesliedriven #grcorolla #toyota #letsgoplaces #corolla #hatchback #dailydriver #carreview #reviews
This was a great review! So many small details sprinkled in seamlessly, and they answered a lot of my questions
What a fantastic review! Thanks Leslie.
Just go buy aftermarket parts for all the things you complained about and problem solved
Things I’m jealous of in this video: -Working AC -Your MR2 runs -The color is beautiful Also wish people coulda seen the frunk 😫
This will be K Swapped for sure lol
I drove one of these back when they first came out, and while it was agile and very fast, it just wasnt a Toyota. It feels and looks like a BMW inside and out. Toyota is the biggest car company in the world. Not making it themselves was a massive mistake. Visibility is terrible too.
Excellent review.
What is IMT?
SICK WATCH!!
Awesome video! The sound of the G16 is so good and unique!
Woman shouldn't drive fast car when they drive slow lol.
Ive never heard anyone complain abouth the looks of this car 🤷♂️
You're awesome. Subscribed! Keep it up and your channel will GROW!
Jokes aside this is one of the most forgiving manual transmissions ive driven. And makes driving major hills a breeze with modern hill assist.
AYO..... AYOOO.... IS...thAT a sUPpRAAAaaa¿??¿¿???????????!!!!!!¡¡
1:11, yea but the gr branding is slightly overdone in the interior, no complaints though.
The GR Corolla might be a loss for enthusiasts. Low volume, crazy dealer markups and now the regular Corolla doesn't have a manual anymore, yeah this is great.
Ironically today, you have the GR corolla that is an enthusiast car. Everybody loves it, but the one big complaint I hear is "It's so awesome, but for this price the interior is lackluster...it's just a Toyota interior". Whereas you get the Supra with BMW interior (that is hands down an upgrade in quality) and you had people complaining "It's too much BMW. People will always find something to complain about. Toyota brought the Supra to the market because they knew car enthusiasts wanted it. The only viable way to have it be affordable was to partner up with BMW. You can't have your cake and eat it too. If they hadn't done that, the engineering/build/production costs for a ground up Toyota supra would've been above anyones price range and would've failed. Same thing with vents. You don't just stick vents on a production car without doing CFD analysis and miscellaneous components. Price to put in real vents would've outweighed the pros they provided and put the Supra in a higher price range than it already is. Thanks Toyota for listening to the fans.
If you don't give it the beans, it keeps the beans. Going downhill in sport mode on the highway is my bliss
Hey great review! keep 'em coming! Would love a MkV but my MkII will just not quit! Don't listen to the trolls and the people who forget this is YOUR opinion and feel the need to correct you. Cheers!
great video!
As I have the same car 2024 auto. I feel like most UA-camrs like you get SHY talking about this car. You talk about BMW like it’s a Chinese brand or something. By the way this car is not good BMW as you named it, it’s a fantastic Toyota powered by BMW, Toyota offered this fabulous design. Toyota offered amazing tuning on the suspension that made this car better the most BMWs. Toyota tuned the steering wheel and and gear made them feel more than amazing to the driver. Toyota drove BMW crazy with their reliability standards. This car is a win to every owner. I love it everyday more than the day before. And remember the Supra mk4 was not loved enough at the beginning same thing happens now with this car, true cars drivers really love this car while video gaming boys keep crying over this BMW saga, glad I have the best of both worlds
Fantastic video Leslie keep it up.
Can you explain iMT?
Sure! iMT stands for Intelligent Manual Transmission. In some cars it speaks to a “clutchless manual” set up, but in the GR Corolla it’s more of a driver’s aid. It’s a computer system that pairs with the gearbox and does things like blipping the throttle for you while downshifting and helping you upshift more smoothly.
My dad has one of the orange 45th Supras with the manual transmission. We flew out to Ohio to pick it up and drove it 500 miles back cause the dealers in our area were marking them up $20k. He has been daily driving the things since then and has put over 8000 miles on it
Smart move. I went out of state for my Honda purchase. Even worse is that one dealer here only stocks automatics and refused to order a manual for me. Weird
do you like this or the corolla better?
2:09 - PLEASE don't say the word "hatchback." It's actually sacrilege to use the word hatchback and sportscar in the same sentence, even if hatchbacks were used on some sportscars in the past.
I don't mind Subaru partnering with Toyota to make the BRZ. But Toyota needs to make a TOYOTA Supra, not the BMW Supra!
Great video! I'm waiting for the 2025 GR Corolla for my next vehicle. The first car I ever lusted after was the 1st gen MR2, especially the Supercharged.
Review a corvette next ! Just earned a sub love the humour
The MKV Supra will probably go down in history as one of the most overhated/best performing sports cars in history.
very enjoyable to listen to you talk - keep it up :)
I have to say this is a top-tier review. You really do mention aspects that no other car reviewer talks about. You are definitely up there with the top car reviewers such as carwow or car throttle ! Subscribed.
All valid good and bad points. Good review
Great vid…I love the Supra
The Supra designers have stated that they intentionally left fake vents as a stock vehicle. It doesn’t need actual vents as stock. They expect modders to use aftermarket vents/cooling parts when the vehicle ACTUALLY needs it. It’s absurd that every car reviewer wants to ding the fake vents.
Good review
the oem steering wheel looks hideous to be honest! lol and I Agree!
It looks great to me. What do you think is wrong with it? What would you change?
Great review. And yes, it is a great car. The manual is so much fun.
Well done getting the manual. If you cut holes in the rear speakers behind the seats you get a much better sound.
..what?
ive got one and thank you for this video not to many videos i haven't seen yet lol
Mark IV is a GT and the Zupra is a proper sports car.
People pretend that the Mark IV was so beloved. It wasn't. Even though the Mark IV is my dream cars
The tuning overhead was unknown when it first came out and it was expensive
This is the only real powerful sports car left in the market. BMW's have gotten too heavy and are more like very good muscle cars. The Nissan Z is old as hell. Everything else is either not as potent or not as dynamic. I don't care about the BMW/Toyota aspect collab. How many people have mix breed dogs and love them just for what they are,. The Supra is a great mutt.
Well said. Glad I got the 2024 model, you can’t imagine the amount of attention it gets like a supercar or something, performance wise it’s a beast
I owned a '22 for 3 years. Just traded it in and "downgraded" into a BRZ. After a few years I just realized it wasn't for me, and missed more the feeling of my S2000. The dealership experience is horrible. Toyota price gouges on oil changes, doesn't honor coupons for supras, and will actually tell you to go to a bmw dealership with certain issues. When you start pushing the car the rear feels completely disconnected from the car. In the twisties there's no feeling of connection between the front end and rear. The weight dive gets tiresome when you're really getting on it. To boot, the 'normal' setting suspension is way too floaty at the top of the rebound and sport mode is aggressively firm. The seats were also horrendously shaped for my fiance and I (both over 6'0") for any seriously lengthy drive. The B58+ZF8 is terrific, iDrive is great, and there's a lot to be said about the raw performance it puts out of the box and if you start tuning. It's a fantastic performance car. But its only an ok street car. Great platform if you got deep pockets to go fast though. Just think carefully if you live in a part of America/the world that doesn't have very well maintained roads.
Maybe it's just me but I think the ZF 8 Speed auto is very fun and well suited to the car. I own an S2000 for when I want to row my own gears with the top down.
I drove a S2K for 12 years and agree about the ZF8 auto being a great transmission.
I drive an EVO X and having a ZF8 Supra is a blessing when I just want to cruise
Yeah, as someone who has driven manual sports cars the past two years, I'd be tempted to get an auto Supra. Even though it wasn't that exciting when it came out, I think the durability of the engine and transmission, great feel, increase in power from 335 to 380 (whp) and ability to get it for MSRP now all make it a lot more appealing. It's just a little tough to justify when C7 Corvettes have come down to the $40k mark and last gen BMW M240i's are down to $30k and also have a B58... And the Supra is kind of a combination of the two.
What's the Toyota Vehicle Loan program? The biggest thing this car suffers from is not the fake vents, but the fact it has no oil dipstick. Dumbest thing ever. That just proves that the Germans don't believe the shortest distance between two points is a straight line.
....how do you monitor the oil level then?
@@wakeupcallforyou You check the oil level on your screen. You go thru this whole dog and pony show and it will then show you a measurement on a bar graph somewhere in the vehicle menu.Ya I know what if that fails, your screwed.Engineers with brain damage.
Great review! Thank you for your insight.
It's a right hand steering car? Straight from Japan?
I love your reviews!!
