The skill and capacity of a Speaker is most clear in how they respond to Points of Order. I hope the prowess of John Bercow in responding ad lib to questions from honourable members in the House will be clear to see in this video series. He speaks with eloquence and authority in his own inimitable way and his shoes were not adequately filled by his successor.

The House rose during the month of August, so there are obviously no Points of Order for that month.

He was mocking Bush for not believing in evolution. The American standards of presidency were pretty high back then. Take a look at what you guys involved into in 2024! You got a former president, and currently, a candidate who believes that other people are eating your cats and pets 😂😂
Wonder why that prohibition was removed from Erskine May. Seems to be a reasonable one.
That "Dinosaur" 🦕 has always told THE TRUTH,,,,THINK ON DODGEY DAVE.
11:05: permanent tan, expensive suits, Versace mistress, pictures on a boat…all of this sounds vaguely familiar.
Being bilingual, I used to think that English was a mundane, simple language. Most likely, it’s due to my American English. However, hearing this man deal with a room of, what, 500 hooligans at any given time, with such elegance and decorum, I am inclined to believe that perhaps the English language can form beautiful phrases.
Art Bell clearly and consistently warned against dealing with demonic or evil presences or the occult. He was a man with a pure spirit.
John Bercow's problem was that he found it very difficult to shout a reprimand at a misbehaving member without grinning.
That's a demon hopefully that lady found that out
I got a big bar of chocolate to watch a film - but then just ended up watching this instead. Really laughed out loud at some of them, especially Theresa May's "treat the occassion in the appropriate manner" comment.
Best Speaker Ever 💯
“The preservation of his good humour on the part of the honourable gentleman is remarkable in the circumstances”. What an excellent turn of phrase.
Honestly I feel like British Parliament is what happens when you give a bunch of schoolchildren elected positions
5:12 took me a second to realize that was Theresa May with that hair
It is such a shame to know we will never have this again. John B. Wells was close but Noory I will never forgive. His roll in getting rid of Art was so underhanded. To this day he has never owned it.
Needs more views, if only for the vocab refresher.
20:59 Shout out to Northeast USA!
How has he managed to remember all the MPs with all details?
How about the one with the quacking duck noises playing through the tape? Some guy picked it up at home. He called in to bring it to Art's attention. Freaky AF. Art had no idea where it was coming from. None of the technicians' owned up to it. It was like they were mocking the callers, or something supernatural was. Reminds me of that one where the guy was being spat on by a ghost standing over him as he slept 😮
I dont even find this guy funny.
Speaker Bercow was the best
Hear Hear
It is discus ting to see people that can not listen to others
It’s a man watching them
Cobyn is a right honourable loon
This is 20 years ago and it became worse :D.
I love him too
Thats his Prorogation tie.
12:40 This did not age well...
🧞♂️🤝🏼.
As an American, I find this highly entertaining! I honestly don’t know how anything gets done in the House of Commons! 😂
Bill you are a genius
Bercow was always a Tory rat but I thought he was a decent Speaker, but some of those interventions seemed to be all about him - right enough, that waster Hoyle is far worse now.
21:00 Not Here!
I wonder what Bill has in mind for the two senile candidates in 2024 now😂
This man made parliament tolerable to many who knew little of it , for that he should be truly proud .
It used to be "admonitions".
Did we ever find out why the House was always groaning at Dr Julian Huppert?
"Calm yourself, man!" 😂

21:45 "...........SIR GEOFFREY CLIFTON BROWN!"
Or Dare . Was he baiting them ?
Orr-dah
Lindsay Hoyle has nothing on Bercow. Hoyle struggles to be heard, whereas Bercow was able to tell anybody, regardless of who they are, to shut up
Hoyle seems competent to me but Bercow was significantly more eloquent, a pleasure listening to him explain parliamentary procedure really.
ORRDAAAAA
Second part of the word is hole … glad this thing has gone
Fab 😂
This guy is awesome haha
Absolutely brilliant speaker.
Excellent!
And what became of Andy Coulson.

I started enjoying UK Parliament because of this man: John Berco. His mastery and grasp the English language may come across to some as pompous and hot winded, but his humour and lightheartedness is very much appreciated, and I enjoy his work, especially in this form. Thanks for posting.
