CUSTOM Shoe Rack
This video shows the start to finish process of making a custom shoe rack at my house.
A major problem we had were shoes laying all over the garage floor because our shoe rack I made years ago was completely full. This is what I came up with. Hopefully this one lasts for a few years or more before it is overflowing....

    Good job, and a beautiful place you got there. I have to resort to watching plowing videos as it's now mid December and I have only had to plow twice this winter, and now there is no snow at all lol. I also use my atv with a plow, and it works amazing, and it's fun. It's also nice because it's easy to maneuver. I plowed for about 10 years with a steel cutting edge with plow shoes on a couple different ATV's. Last summer I had driveway paved. Changed to a poly cutting edge and no shoes. Very clean scrape with the poly edge and very quiet as it cleans the driveway. The edge wears like steel. I would recommend a poly edge.

    • @vondypharmadventures7746
      @vondypharmadventures7746 3 роки тому

      I agree, if the plow was a little heavier it would scrape a little better. I would love to upgrade to a hydraulic ATV plow which would give me a little more down pressure but I would realistically have to upgrade ATVs before I did that. I hope you have a happy new year as well!

    • @sethwatson8952
      @sethwatson8952 3 роки тому

      I have found that what helps it scrape better is not using the plow shoes. Of course, that means you eat the cutting edge way faster. About 1 season per side. If you use plow shoes, you will leave some snow.

  • @sethwatson8952

    I recently bought a '21 polaris 450 with plow. The apparently new design discards any need to screw around under the machine. 39 sec hookup, no swearing involved.

    • @vondypharmadventures7746
      @vondypharmadventures7746 3 роки тому

      That would be amazing. I think mine is supposed to be an easy hookup and go as well. When I hook up the winch and pick up the plow, I believe it is supposed to latch into the bracket under the ATV automatically. Because I bought my atv and plow used, I believe my bracket must be a little bent or something because it will get close to latching in but doesn't quite make it all the way, hence the need to mess around under the ATV. Thanks again for watching and commenting.

    • @sethwatson8952
      @sethwatson8952 3 роки тому

      @@vondypharmadventures7746 ok, so for '21, the plow mount on the atv is built into all of them. There's no separate mounting plate. In the front, just behind the bumper, there are 2 ears. A little further back, there are 2 recesses. You pick up the plow and push the notches on the plow frame onto the ears. Then you just push down on a handle down by where the winch attached, and that's it, clip on the winch cable, and done. You only have to bend over, no more getting down on the floor. The first time I did it, not reading any instructions, but with a verbal description from the salesman, it took maybe 2 minutes.

    • @vondypharmadventures7746
      @vondypharmadventures7746 3 роки тому

      Thank you for your interest in the shoe rack that I designed and built. Unfortunately I didn’t not keep a detailed list of materials for this project. This is a very specific project that can easily be customized and adapted to fit your needs best. For example the spacing between shelves, the depth of each shelf, as well as the overall length of the shelves can vary significantly based on your space. After watching the video, it appears I started construction of each shelf by using 1x4 pine boards and ripped them in half and cut them to length. So the overall height of each shelf is 1 3/4” tall. Each shelf is approximately 6 feet long with supports 16” on center. The shelves are approximately 12” deep as well. The sanded plywood sheathing that I used was 1/4” thick and nailed in place after cutting the length and width. The upright supports are 1x3 pine that were stained to match. If you have any other questions, please don’t hesitate to ask.

The pocket hole method was at the perfect angle to drive a long screw from one board to the next. Those pocket holes were then filled with a pocket hole plug, sanded, and stained for a flat seamless finish. If you have any other questions, do not hesitate to ask. You have skid plates on the plow? We also have gravel driveway and I want to know what works best, the tricky part with our driveway is that there are some small compacted rocks which works fine for plowing with shovel, but farther down the driveway we have huge 1 1/2in rocks that aren't quite compacted and they tend to pick up a little with the snow shovel, he man thanks for the awesome video!! I bummed, we had a big storm and my quad did not have a plow...and the tractor with plow wasn't wanting to start and was smoking like it was a diesel and it's a gasser...so I'm stuck with the shovel, I still enjoy plowing, hopefully next year I will be more prepared, hope to see some more plowing vids from you!!

      Thank you for the kind words!! I hope to put out more plowing videos this year. Where I am in Indiana, we haven't had more than a couple inches of snow total all winter so far. Pretty unusual for us. I do have two skid shoes on my plow. I have the blade set about an 1/8" or so off the ground because of the skid shoes. I so far have not had too big of a problem with digging into the gravel driveway and plowing gravel too much. We have however done a pretty good job of getting the gravel packed down and the driveway fairly level which I feel like has helped significantly. @@vondypharmadventures7746 thanks, yeah we barley get any snow in my are but I will have to play around with skid plates in such, in fact I actually don't have the plow, I have a 86' Honda fourtrax 350 and of course a plow doesn't fit on it without heavy modifications, I plan on making a plow out of old water heaters and goota make some skids and the whole setup, also got some LEDs to go on all 4 corners and a new winch, just trying to study up by watching ATV plowing vids and how different people set them up

      @@vondypharmadventures7746 yeah I agree, I personally like older quads because they easier to fix, but yeah each year we get very little snow fall if not none. But I have no dought on my ATV in snow, I took it out in 5 inches of snow (still don't have a plow) and it did just fine up and down hills. But the thing that I mentioned previously is that it is an older 4x4 and in the front, the PTO driveshaft for the front wheels has 2 huge boxes on the Axel's which would prevent a plow from being mounted under, if so, the mount would have to be touching the ground basically to lift it up of the ground before hitting the connection arms, but I've been studying on UA-cam and I think I know how to fix the problem, the plow will be attached to the from of the ATV through a receiver hitch hole and I found some ways to make it work... hopefully, this year I am going to try to make it work before fall/winter 2020

      @@Tractors_Trucks_And_Pups wow that does sound like it could be quite the problem. It does sound like you have done your research and have come up with a solution. You never know unless you try. I had purchased my ATV and plow used and it has had its challenges. I can slide the front pins for the plow into the bracket but have to use a jack to lift the rear brackets into their locking position. I think the bracket that is bolted to the underside of my ATV is slightly bent causing it to not attach as easily as it should. Maybe one of these days I will remove and see if I can repair it.

      Thank you for watching, and thank you for the kind words about the video. How much snow did you get your last storm? I love plowing snow with my Sportsman. I am very glad I tried the ATV plow first before investing in a plow for my truck. It has worked just fine for how much snow I get in Indiana. Crazy that we haven't gotten any significant snow yet this year, but if we do I plan to make some more videos to document it.

    How did you get it secured to the wall?

    • @vondypharmadventures7746
      @vondypharmadventures7746 4 роки тому

      Josh Edwards, thank you for watching. I made sure that my branches were wide enough to span three studs in the wall. I then used a Kreg pocket hole jig to drill holes in the underside of each branch as well as a couple areas of the trunk. I then secured the trunk and each branch to the studs in the wall with 2.5 to 3 inch wood screws. It has been very secure and sturdy. It is loaded up with books without and fear of failure. Let me know if you have any other questions.

      @@Bandit4229 I used 2x10 lumber for this project. It ends up being fairly heavy in the end, but it is sturdy and can hold about any size book/kids book without them sticking out off the shelf too far. We now have way more books on each shelf than what was shown in the video, and haven't had any problems. Compared to the horizontal floor, each of the main angled trunk pieces go vertical in a 60 degree angle either to the left or right depending on the piece. Before I started this project, I sketched a scale drawing to make sure it would fit in the intended space as well as look somewhat like a tree. I wish I had kept my original plans, but I think they got thrown away after I was finished. I hope this info helps. Let me know if you have any other questions and I will do my best to answer them.

      Thank you for the compliments! The plow has held up very nicely. The only trouble I have had is when the snow is very wet and heavy. That is probably an issue however with all snow removal options. I plan to add a couple salt bags to the back ATV rack to add some extra downforce for the ATV whenever we get some wet snow. And you aren't kidding about the prices of tractors. Where I am located in Indiana, we have been averaging only 2-3 real big snow events per winter. I wanted to see if I could get by with a plow on the ATV before investing more money in another setup and so far I have had no issues.

      Vondy Pharm Adventures really? your in Indiana as well? I live in North Central Indiana south of kokomo. just bought a home here. lots of people always mention a walk behind snow blower. yes they do work but they only accomplish one job! also there's multiple types of snow, I know this from growing up in Michigan. my neighbor has a walk behind snow blower and we made a deal, I do both his driveways and mine, fill it with ethanol free gas then I can borrow it no problem! works for me. the issue is, we have already had more than once that the snow has not been moveable with a walk behind blower! warm snow clogs the chute and we have received ice rain on top of the snow too. Also with a plow on an ATV I could plow my elderly neighbors driveway a block down the road without issue.

      Vondy Pharm Adventures Certainly! I'm in Tipton Indiana but grew up in Michigan an hour north of grand rapids. much more snow, more ice, and colder weather! main issue here that makes travel difficult in a different way would be the ground doesn't freeze often. so snow or ice on pavement can get greasy / messy. I have another UA-cam channel I used to run. good stuff on there. running a channel is truely a lot! nice work on this video. I need to get a mowing set up and a plow setup. would be more than fine with an ATV + plow and a riding mower. used a self propelled walk behind mower last summer and my yard is too large for that!
