Yes! The diamond glaze I purchased had no seal on the bottle, the glaze was already in the tube like it had been used, and dried up in the tube in addition to leaking in the package it was shipped in! Not happy that a new product was packaged this way. Did your's arrive with no seal?
I used mod podge on my earrings and for gluing accents to earrings. Once everything was dry, I put the diamond glaze on to finish it off. When it started drying, everywhere I put the mod podge turned white! Was there a reaction from the glaze adding to the earring that had mod podge? Oh I am just sick and ready to cry after all the detailed work i did. 😢
Is the pouring medium non toxic and water based? Will it harden like diamond glaze? Thanks!
I bought tiny bottles with a needle point.. it does not clog if you close it with the tiny silicone cap .. I use these bottles with acrylics, glue etc.. even the Glossy Accents is one of my favorites now.. and the bookbinding glue, but that's not a dimensional glue.
How about triple thick? Is it similar to any of these??
Exactly answered ALL of my questions. Thank you for your time and effort.
She need to explain bette,r the difference. There are so many deferents and is confuse.
Jeri...I am confused as to which glaze I need to use for an unusual project. I am gluing egg shells to a 36" long x 4" tall wooden box. Will follow with alcohol inks then I want to use a Non-Yellowing Dimensional Glaze. From what I've read glazes often yellow after several months which I want to avoid after all the work of this project. Bubbles...I kind of embrace as part of texturing but do not want yellowing. Cost is not a factor but the Yellowing is! So hope you can help...appreciate so much!
Great video! Quick question, would the Liquitex pouring medium work for doming flat charms or jewelry? I'm looking for an adhesive for doming shrink plastic charms :)
That is one I really can't answer. I don't have any expertise in jewelry making. I know it has good adhesive properties, but not sure about plastic. I would contact Liquitex and ask them. Glad you enjoy the video. :)
@@jeriparks2177 Thank you 😊 I'll look into it some more. The Mod podge looks like it would work well for what I'm making
Great video thx!
♥️‼️♥️ Depending on the gauge of your writer bottles, you prevent your applicators from clogging by using anything necessary to match the size from a sewing pin (jewelry head pin or dollar store wire for bigger or smaller sizes) and even a toothpick or shish kebab stick/skewer so long as you coat it with some vaseline prior to inserting it! You can also prevent the lids from adhering on your super or jewelry glues by rubbing a bit of vaseline around the threads before putting the cap back on. It works for me every time so I hope it solves your problem too! 😉👍 I also buy my writer bottle on Amazon! You get way more bottle (30-50 depending on size/gauge) for the cost of a 6 pack from Michael’s or Blick! PS...... If the (far better priced) glossy pouring medium is able to be “mixed” with other things, I’m REALLY wondering if I can create a more affordable version of “dimensional magic” by mixing some of the thick, heavy duty, clear drying E7000 almost gel-like’ jewelry glue to it for a nice thick/hard finish INSTEAD of using cabochons!??? I’ll have to try that and let you know how it goes!!! I wanted to know about all of these compared side-by-side but nearly ALL of the other blog/blog “reviews” I found were sponsored by ModPodge so I knew they wouldn’t be impartial. 👍😉 Thanks again for doing this video! I REALLY appreciate it!!! Best Wishes ~
Well, Girl, what did you find regarding your proposed experiment in making CABOCHONS?? Any success?
I doubt that this would work, as the dimensional glazes are water based and E6000 isn't.
Thank you for a GREAT video! I use hat/corsage pins to to keep glazes and glues from clogging. They work beautifully, but they must be watched for they do tarnish after awhile, and eventually break down (this will eventually contaminate your glaze/glue with black muck). As often as you use your glazes, watching them wouldn't be a problem for you. A pin with a bead on top works best, most already come with a faux pearl attached. You can also buy some bottles in the craft store that actually come with stainless steel pins for the nozzles (Darice Ultrafine Tip Applicators). Thanks again!!
I finally found a way to keep the Diamond Glaze from clogging up! I've been doing this for several days and it holds! : Stick one of those sewing pins (head pin) that have a little ball on the end into the tip of your glaze bottle and close the cap over it. You won't be able to close the cap completely but that's ok. When you go to open the cap later, the little plastic ball should have stuck to the inside of the cap. Leave it there, and each time you close the cap, insert the needle into the hole. It's the same principle as those tiny tubes of precision jewellery glue.
Try Lilly Glaze. It's the best I've tried so far.
Thank you so much for this review! I think I've found a way to keep the Diamond Glaze from clogging up! I just tried this yesterday though so I'll have to see how it works in the long run. Here's what I did: When I was finished using my glaze, I tapped the bottom of the bottle on the table to bring the glue down into the bottle. Then, with a small squeezy bottle, I squeezed a drop of water out onto the table. Then I gently pressed the glaze bottle while it was still vertical and without releasing it, put the tip to the drop of water and suck it up by releasing the pressure on the glaze bottle.
Sorry guys, this didn't work after all :( But I found another way that works! (see separate post)
Thanks for sharing the comparisons. I too would not have considered the pouring medium as an adhesive, I have seen it used in place of resin over the top of paintings, and it seems to work well as a finishing product...I've put off buying it because of how expensive it is, but if I can use it a multiple of ways then it is worth the cost. I've had the Mod Podge on hand for a while and not really had anything to use it for, but recently I used it to adhere multiple layers of cardstock cutouts to create a 3D look and it has been awesome for that. It doesn't wet thru the paper and it only takes just a little bit. I gently lay the paper on top of the other paper and let it dry, and as it dries it hardens, so the papers don't flatten crating the 3D look. Been lovin' it. Anyhew...thanks for the video, I can't always afford to buy multiple products to test, I appreciate those who do and who share what they've learned.
Thank you so very much. I was going broke buying Glossy Accents. Just got my first 32 oz Liquitex and used it on a domino necklace! Works beautifully!!! I got the 32 oz bottle for $28.00 off eBay. So excited and grateful for this money saving tip!
So glad you like it. It is still one of my favorite videos to make. :)
I got the pouring medium in this week, ordered immediately after watching this video. THANK YOU! Would never have considered it as an alternative to glossy accents! For the most part I don’t mind the slight yellow tint on most colored images but when you put it on white, it absolutely shows but yay the PM has no tint! Made some paper ornaments for my cousins kids and was wanting to cover them with glossy accents to make them more sturdy- not only did the PM go on easier over a large surface but I’m getting so much more for my money. Absolutely thrilled with the results!
Love the technique with the paper stencils and the free flowing watercolor look. Almost makes me want to get a circuit. I did not know about the pigment powders so another new thing to look into.
I love your this video.
So which one holds its dimension the best? Does the Liquitex stay raised, or does it sink down as it dries, like glue does?
They all hold their shape really well. Some do shrink more then others. My favorite remains pouring medium by Liquitex.
For anyone reading, there are 4 of each color: pure color, tint (pastel), shade (dark) and extra dark shade (very dark).
Omg thank you so much for this video!! I've been looking for a comparison on these!
You are most welcome.
Best video I've seen so far for comparisons...Thanks, now I have to go shopping for some Liquidex pouring medium. Love it.
Great video! Thank you for sharing all this info. I never would've thought of the pouring medium but it sounds like it would work really well, especially the non-yellowing part. xxAmy
hi, enjoy your videos...could. you tell me the cricut cartridge name that you used to cut out your lovely stencils...got some but not like that one....just found you so still got lots to look at!!! thank you☺
My favorite carts to use are Paper Lace 1 and 2. They have tons of good cuts to work with. Have fun.
Going to use my silhouettes! Tfs.
I like Prismacolor pencils too. I haven't tried this technique. I always enjoy your videos, thank you!
Thank you for sharing these techniques - I learned a lot! I really like the baby wipe technique and the credit card technique. I enjoy your videos and always look forward to them. TFS!
And love reading comments. :) So happy you enjoyed the video.
very difficult to see what you are doing since your book is positioned in the lower 1/2 of the screen - hard to follow what you are doing, Jeri
Chris, thank you for the honest feedback. I truly appreciate it and will use it to make improvements in future videos.
Question... you used modelling paste through a stencil... could I use embossing paste? I'd like to try this!
I believe so, you just need to use a medium that does not have a glossy finish. Good luck.
Great comparison video! Love your finished tags! Great colour combos!
Thank you!
I like you style and talent very much.
Thank you! So happy to hear you enjoyed the video. :)
Good ideas! Thanks for the tip about using craft paint. Looking forward to the watercolour video too.
Thank you Jakki. I am so excited about the watercolor video. The results are amazing. :)
hi! thanks for putting up such an informative video! i am especially interested in liquitex pouring medium. is it possible to use a brush and brush it on sculptures to give them a glossy look?
Glad you enjoyed the video. I have actually never tried brushing it on a sculpture, but I would be confident using it for that purpose. I would do a bit a testing before covering a large area, just to see how the materials react to each other. Good luck.
I needed this
Connie Watson your welcome. 😊
did you water down the paint for splattering? it might have been too thick for the tool... time for experimenting
Distressed paint is very thin to begin with, but I did water it down to make it splatter better. Next time I just need to do a better job of protecting my work area...I made a huge mess.
this might seem silly but would you be able to use the liquitex on altered dominoes as most people use the glossy accents?
Great question...not silly at all. While I have never used on dominoes, by guess would be yes. BUT, it is thinner than Glossy Accents so it will probably run off the edges. Plus you will need to make sure the domino is level while it dries or it will pool.
great thank you that is what i was thinking but as i have never tried it i wanted to to ask before i spent the money on it. do you have any ideas price wise that would be cheaper but most like the glossy accents? i have been searching but this is new territory for me.
Price wise, the best of Pouring Medium. None of the options were exactly like Glossing Accents. But overall I prefer Pouring Medium.
ok that is what i thought. so really i would paying for the convenience of it not running off of the edges. thank you for your help i appreciate it greatly
Thank you! Lots of useful info that has help me a great deal. Gracias!!
Glad you enjoyed the video. :)
Great project; love the Crazy Bird!
Hi Jeri ~ Love all the "layers" on this flat card! You're always so very inspiring at getting me to step out of my comfort zone! Thanks for sharing. ~HUGS~

thanks so much for this video. nowni understand the difference haha
I enjoyed this, thank you! Great fall tag!
+Fit Kitty Thank you. I have a great time making the videos too. :)
Beautiful, thanks for sharing.
I love this project. Great video!
One of the best and most complete discussions of mediums I have seen. I had to learn the hard way myself, and it would have been so nice to have a class like this to turn to. I really appreciated that you explained that companies that are targeting "crafters" charge much more for the same, and sometimes even inferior, products that say Golden or Luquitex do. I think it is a shame that as crafters, many times we are overcharged for items that fine artists or other folks pay much less for. Knowing what things are and what they do will help people make better choices for themselves as to what brands, mediums, etc... will work for their particular type of crafting/art. Thank you for developing this class, it will benefit many people I am sure!
Maureen Hayes Thank you! I agree with all of the points you made. :)
Thanks for sharing. I am anxious to see more of you, Glad to get to know you.
Thank you for reviewing a few of the possibilities when using embossing powders.
Enjoyed your tut on embossing powders and thought I would tune in for this Cut and Emboss tut. Thank you for your super instructions!
Thank you. I plan on sending out the video on the Cut and Emboss projects on Monday...even though I am officially on vacation next week. :) So watch you inbox.
I'm always excited to see what you've got up your sleeve, Jeri,
LOL! I should have a snappy reply...but I am failing today. :)
It happens to the best of us. ;-D
