The Tragic Downfall Of The Fable Series
#gaming #fable
Taking a look back at my childhood RPG franchise and The Tragic Downfall Of The Fable Series and the studio that started it all LionHead Studios, with Fable 2, Fable 3, Fable The Journey and Fable Legends. Not to mention all the other games that came from this era of gaming! But how did LionHead come crumbling down after years of great game?

#Gaming Hey guys, today I tried out 7 Days to Die after 10 years of development, i dive into the development of the game and the struggles Fun Pimps faced during that time. Also discuss gameplay features and about different zombies and enemies you may face. And if at the end of the day the game is worth a try. Thanks For Watching, Subscribe to see more! 7 Days To Die: store.steampowered.com/app...
Hopefully the new fable is a return to what we love, has me scared especially now after the new dragon age game lol, awesome video though
Amazing quality brother, keep up the good work!
GOD DAMN. thought this was a video by a big youtuber. o7 im glad someone documented fables history tho great video!
however i do wish it was longer
Thanks so much man! And would definitely love to make the videos longer!
@@JCuttyYT should definitely do would love to see u go much more in depth
Peter picked all the evil options.
Hahah top comment right there!
After this video I must try Fable II.
got to give it a go man!
7D2D isn't a bad game. Actually, it's pretty fun if you have friends to play with. But, I'm part of the group that feels like the game lost a piece of its identity somewhere along the way. A lot of the survival aspects the game had during development got either dumbed down or just shafted so they could focus more on the combat/raiding. Some people liked that, but me? Not so much. Thank god this game still have a healthy modding community, at least. I can easily recommend this game to anyone when it goes on sale, but I personally can't play 1.0 without mods. Good video <3
For 10 years nooo. But if they launched with alpha 16 then yes. But they prob could have finishing a sequel at this point.
I played the legacy version on playstation 4 then brought a pc just so I can play the new updates when the stopped on console now I play on xbox and I still love the game
Im be building an surviving this game for r next few years
Got 4000+ hours on 7 days, picked up in a Steam sale for something like £6 back in 2021 (tail end of Alpha 19 I started in). Game has come a long way and overall I cannot grumble too much as that is fantastic value and I have had great fun playing solo and co-op with a family member. However most telling since the 1.0 release I have pretty much completely stopped playing it due to the direction they have went and the gameplay/mechanic changes they have made. Also a lot of the superfluous / nonsensical stuff they have added which have done almost nothing for the game. Proof is in the pudding and all that, why do I not want to play it anymore? (and it is not burnout). It simply does not have the freedom it once had, they are trying to railroad players down a certain progression path (book system / fixed traders in certain biomes / biome gamestage multipliers etc etc). The game is in a better state than it has ever been and looks the best it ever has, but there are still some pretty damn major issues with it (it runs like ass for example, even on high end PC's) during horde nights etc, especially with the new particle effects they recently introduced. Anyway I could write a novel and this is already becoming a wall of text :) My fav period of the game so far has been Alpha 20 overall.
yeah man, sadly heard the same online. and the performance definitely needs some help haha
I liked the older system better, when it was learn by doing and it was far more open about how you could play, now’s it’s a dungeon crawl and that gets gets old fast. Now that’s not to say the game can’t be fun, I started a new game the other week after not playing for a year, and I had fun, I was going for shotguns and shotguns was like my lowest weapon skill besides bows due to being unlucky with mags, I really dislike the mag system. The new game I had started was coming up on my third horde night, I had max preacher gear and a blue steel sledge hammer, and I just unlocked the final tier of poi quest, go to log back on today and my character save reset…….hours of that character just gone, now I have no desire to play it right now, and that’s not the first time that’s happened to me with this game, been a known bug for years and still has not been fixed.
that sucks man, haven't had the issue myself but crazy they have never fixed it
I also played the game since the begining, coming back to it every couple of years,i enjoy the game and the atmosphere a lot, there is a lot of freedom to built and create. basicaly a mix of minecraft+survival+tower defence.
You're editing and knowledge of the game is an inspiration. Awesome job! Love the game too. Been playing since A15.
thanks so much man! didn't want to make a video on it with the proper knowledge so great to hear!
tbh i like the new 7 days to die 1.0 i felt there was more to do and less time consuming. i do wish bought back looting dead zombies and maybe make it it's own perk.
yeah that would be a great feature to bring back!
Why is there a price increase???
awesome vid man swear you were more popular. won me over <3
haha thanks man!
The price hate says more about people than the devs. It's like getting mad at being charged full price for baked cake, when it was half price if you ate raw eggs, butter, flour, and did the cinnamon challenge. £30 for a fresh release mid game isn't bad for 15 years ago and they cry at 37. People who already own it paid the low price, people who didn't pay full. Backers can be mad at not getting what they backed, but otherwise it's buying game. A new release original title has always been a £30-£40 gamble, and buying an alpha is basically putting everything on 00 on roulette.
Honestly the best thing about this game is the modding community. Amazing things those guys can do. (console is stuck in vanilla though) For horde nights, I find the improvised ones to be the most fun.
gonna have to give a modded run a try at some point
@@JCuttyYT if you want a completely new experience try afterlife/Rebirth(when it's ready)
what's the other game?
7 days blood moon i think its called
Nice video, good editing, and I've been playing this game since like 2014 I think. Also it's RNG (random number generation) not R&G 😅
Thanks man! Dammit! Knew I’d get something like that wrong 😂
@@JCuttyYT all good, I think you did the game justice tbh and that's coming from someone who's been playing to forever and still loves the game
I've been playing the long haul, a lot of playing... I haven't played the release yet... kinda waiting for a little bit...
yeah think they said they are still updating the game so lets hope it keeps growing
I've been playing since the start and the new version is so cool no need to miss out. Its way more fun than the old version and I played that like there was no tomorrow
The price hike is kinda typical for releases as Alpha and Beta are cheaper for the promise you are funding them towards their release. What's even more deeper is the fact that Steam sales run the games market and not being able to a huge discount on your game would hurt your potential buyers as they expect a discount and are pushed over the edge when the discount is significant but does not warrant an immediate play for them. It's not ideal for consumers but there are so many IRL stores out there that just live on the "always closing" sale that convinces people to shop at. Another example is youtube clickbait titles, both watchers and creators hate it, but it still happens in order to thrive. It did hurt when my friends and I wanted to start a new game at launch and one of us didn't have it (we got someone else to family share their copy), its expected to see a drop on the next season sale.
i have 2k hours but i kinda stopped playing frequently due to the changes in farming
would of love to of played it with the old farming system
7 days to die, is the reason I don't play any other video games. This game is so damn perfect, that it ruined all others. It's like a realistic looking Minecraft, with sand box survival. It's fucking perfect!
For all the comment critisizing the change of direction of this game, I will say, it isn't as bad as people make it sound to be. Sure, leveling takes a bit more time, but really, the core gameplay loop is still really enjoyable.
Oh it is so enjoyable, i think i'm just intrigued by how it use to be
@@JCuttyYT you could just simply easily get a motorcycle and really powerful weapons within the first 10 hours playing the game if you got eraly into the hardest places. Now stuff is more balanced and lower level biome have less OP stuff in them. Bad progression used to make me quit playing but for the first time ever, this progression made me want to play longer as I'm more invested in my character this time around.
17th sub, that was a good video
Thanks man! Welcome aboard!
I picked it up on sale during Alpha 17 for like $7. I have put over a thousand hours in to it. I got my money's worth. Even at $45, it's still worth it if you enjoy it. I don't like all of the decisions TFP has made, overall they dumbed down the game to expand the (console peasant) audience, but I understand that is what any business will do to potentially increase profit.
yeah man i agree, if you put in tons of hours the value of the game is so worth it
Good editing for a first video. Personally for me, i am fine with price hikes for completed games. Cheaper game for incomplete products makes basic sense. I have played the game since the early days, and i do appreciate the meaner elements of the game, like insulting npcs
got to love Rekt! haha
Going against what @zoltansandor7751 said, what he said isn't the biggest reason why most gave the game a negative review. They changed the entire game from one thing to another. This new system with the books to gain skills AND the leveling up talents is literally the worst thing I experienced in a video game. Want to be a strength build? Then you get screwed out of getting vehicles and and the other things in the Intelligence tree, they really should've made it a baseline tree or something as a means to not cuck your build. Or even better, everything being one same class and you pick what you want with all the freedom in the world, not like you're gonna pick every melee weapon and gun anyway until ultra end game. Game has turned into a action RPG that allows you to build. Also Rekt is the worst NPC I seen in a video game. There is also missing key features such as a story and bandits still. Everything before 1.0 was better by a long mile. 1.0 looks good character model and armor wise but that is it and the armor system is dogwater as only one set of gloves is good while the rest is bad, all the armor full tier bonuses are bad, there is so many useless armors stat wise and so many that do the same thing. And they changed the armor slots from something like 10 to something like 4. I'm not the best at expressing how bad the game is now, other youtubers done it. I have almost 700 hours and started playing at A17 but watched even older version videos before playing myself. There is a entire video making fun of 7D2D changing their entire genre to something else.
I agree with your take on the leveling system. They are taking the Fallout 4 approach with a perk only system. It is TRASH. They need skills AND perks like Fallout New Vegas.
Pretty Good video overall. As someone who has backed this game since beta i can tell you that i do miss some of the mechanics, IE upgrading skills by using the skills in the open world but i understand why they changed it. As many said tho much of the negativity is around the price increase and the sometimes lack of communication from the devs. Ive got a group of between 3 and 5 friends i play with we go through periods of not playing then spending over a month playing pretty much every day. Everything is configurable to make the game even harder tho, So if your getting to comfortable playing on easier difficulty up the difficulty and you can make the zombies run at nightmare speed all the time. Adds some extra spice to the game for sure,
yeah would of loved to see how a game with those old systems would of came out, me and a couple friends also got dragged into playing everyday for a while but nightmare speed does sound spicy hahah
Bro the editing level on this is amazing
thanks so much! did take a little while to edit
The main reason some people dropped negative revs is the price, and to be honest, the game is great and it's worth the money. If you would have picked it up on alpha as many of us did, you would have gotten it cheaper. But supporting the devs trough 10 years of making this gotta count for something, right?
the price would not be a big problem if it was a proper survival game :))) too much RPG and not enough survival, hope they still update the game after this and don't let it rust as it is
yeah completely! so many devs just dump their games in a year fair play to them working for 10 years
I haven't seen the price recently I bought it many moons ago but even the amount of overhaul mods make this game well worth it most completely change alot if not all the mechanics so it's never the same game
I DID pick it up as alpha and after being one of the people who helped fund them to complete the game, those people should have been GIVEN the update to the full version. As it stands $58 cdn to obtain it when I already PAID close to that in Alpha when it came out ~9 years ago is a slap in the face. As they say, never bite the hand that feeds you. Was fun while it lasted but they can rot now
im your fourth sub, remember me when you hit thousands ❤️
Thanks so much man! And will do potato!!!
Me and my friends absolutely love this game to the point where we decided to put mods for greater challenges and additional fun for ourselves :)
so much fun i definitely need to try out some mods soon!
As someone that played the game a bit(@500 hours) I can say that the game is decent (not worth 38 GBP though), the game was initially advertised as a hardcore survival game with many mechanics that added a feel of rly surviving in a post apocalyptic world like DayZ but in Minecraft that where removed (tears on my face), now is an RPG where you have to grind your game stage in order to get good weapons, the looting is a dungeon based and the zombies don't care if you shoot on cities or near buildings in general, the only light is the modes that you use to kind of get the game back to the original idea... anyways I could talk all day about this :)) Really nice video, I can tell that you put a lot of effort in it, can't wait to see what you post next, I will be with you on your journey :D
thanks for the comment man! yeah not worth £38 for sure! and would of been so interested in seeing how the game would of turned out the other way.. but welcome aboard!
nice recommendation youtube. good take on the game. - i own it for a long time, and i've always called it my "favorite mediocre z-survival". to be honest though. it is a very good game that i keep coming back to, multiplayer always. now with the 1.0 release, i am about to convince more friends to pick it up. pity about the steep price increase, though. 45 bucks is quite an ask, but: pick it up on a decent sale, and it will be more than worth your time.
thanks man! yeah multiplayer is a blast some of the funniest moments playing with friends! and yeah the price is the biggest hit for me!
