Angels Landing in Zion National Park. The "Scariest Hike in America"! Not really.....but it's pretty epic. I captured this on my Insta360 X3 mounted on my chest. Note that permits are required once you get to the chains. Awesome hike.....put it on your list!

Saw these lights just West of Woodstock at about 9:43PM. The were in groups of 7-8 and we saw about 30 total over 20 minutes. Definitely not airplanes because the were too close together, but they were traveling fast. The only explanation I can think of was a large release of Chinese lanterns since they glowed orange and eventually just went out.

So, I was at a wedding just west of Woodstock in the summer of 2011 (can't remember the exact date) and we did actually light and launch a bunch of the Chinese lanterns.
They appeared self illuminated with a slight flicker. No blinking and no sound at all.
Are they self illuminated? And you are certain NO SOUND? This may be a legit sighting. I shot still photos of 4 USO's over Des Plaines, Il. perhaps 8 miles from O'Hare. BROAD DAYLIGHT.
