The Apostle Paul said in Romans 1:16 "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believes; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek". This praise resounds throughout the earth: "Jesus Christ is Lord and God. Only He saves". He testified: ''I and my Father are One" John 10:30 (*see also 31-42). 2 Samuel chapter 22:verse 50 "Therefore I will praise you, O Lord, out of the countries, and I will praise your name." JESUS SAVES God the Son (Jesus Christ) has given us the gospel to share with the world. Mark 16:15: "And He said unto them, Go into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature." How can we hear it? Scripture tells us. Romans 10:17 "Then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." (We receive the "word" in many ways. The "Word" is Jesus Christ!); John 1:1-5. God the Holy Spirit teaches through the Word of God in the Bible. Isaiah chapter 7: verse 14: "Therefore the LORD shall give you a sign; behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and call His name "Immanuel." Hebrew: עִמָּנוּאֵל, "God with us" in human flesh but without sin. The Savior of the world was born to die for our sins! He did so 33 years later. His terrible ordeal; body mutilated; blood poured out, finally died and was placed in a tomb and rose from the dead the 3rd day ! "HE IS RISEN" Matthew 28:6 John 3:16 "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life." "For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God." Romans 3: 23 " For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23 "1 Corinthians 15: 3 "For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; 4 And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures:" ***BY GOD'S GRACE ALONE THROUGH FAITH ALONE IN JESUS CHRIST ARE WE SAVED Ephesians 2:8 "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 not of works, lest any man should boast." Jesus died and paid the penalty for our sins to rescue us from eternal death. He died on our behalf. We believe in Him, trusting His death and shedding of His blood as payment for ALL our sins and His burial and resurrection from the dead the third day! John 20:24-31; 1 Corinthians 15: 3-4 above. WHOSOEVER BELIEVES SHALL TESTIFY TO THE TRUTH Romans 10: 9 that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. 13 For “whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved.” TO DIE IS TO REJECT SALVATION IN JESUS CHRIST AND BE SEPARATE FROM GOD FOREVERMORE Salvation and forgiveness of sins is the blessing of anyone who believes in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. We receive the baptism of God the Holy Spirit immediately which seals us in Christ and that is permanent! Ephesians 1:13-14. Those who reject the free gift of salvation, see John 3:16 above, "perish", which means their sins are judged by God the Son and they suffer eternal separation from God and the family of God forever called the "second death". Revelation 21:8

I wish I were better at writing letters. As a teen I had many pen pals and corresponded with people all over the US and even some in the Philippines. It was a fun hobby and I enjoyed getting to know so many people. Along the spiritual lines of being a letter written for God’s Glory, I encourage you to check out a song written by Gary Chapman. It’s called Sincerely Yours and is a lovely, prayerful song I think you’d like. (If you can’t find a copy of Gary singing it, Debby Boone also recorded it.)

I just wrote a letter to my cousin to put in her birthday card. She doesn't text. I like to write real letters every now and then. I agree with you. I miss letters. Most of the people in my life who used to write letters to me have passed onto heaven. I like that verse. We are living letters to those around us. I'm thankful that I can respond to your message today on my tablet. I haven't been able to type on it for a few weeks. Happy 4th to you and your family!

That father also went against the rules of the time/area by running to his son. Older, dignified men did not run in public. He was also in a hurry to get to his son before the guards could because if they got to the young man first he would not have been allowed to come back again because of his actions. Yet his father had such unconditional love for him, just as God has for us! I sure am grateful for that!

Wow! Thanks for the powerful yet simple reminder of the importance of forgiveness. Stephen was an incredible example of a person who could forgive even in the middle of the injustice and physical pain. Reminds me of Jesus on the Cross doing the same thing. If they could, why do find it so difficult and sometimes don’t even attempt to forgive?

And, just like your stains getting back on your hands over and over with each project, our stains/sins keep revisiting us as well. We still have our sin nature and, this side of heaven, will continue to do wrong. But we are also blessed with a Savior who will continue to forgive us & wipe us clean! Wonderful analogy!

Yes! Praise the Lord for His healing of all our sins through His forgiveness!

One of my favorite verses on God’s forgiveness is 1 John 1:9 which says “If we confess our sin, He is faithful and just to forgive our sin and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” ✝️ How beautiful is that? To consider that a Holy God would be so willing to forgive?! It’s only possible through His Great Love. Many years ago, Wes King recorded a song based on the scripture you shared from Ephesians 3. It’s called The Love of Christ. It’s worth checking out, if you don’t know it.

My husband is named Matthew which means “gift from God,” and I’ve always liked that very accurate description of who he is to me. But I’ve always told him he could’ve been named Barnabas as he is always quick to encourage others. Whether at work or church or with family and friends, he takes the time to help others feel better and see the positive in things.

Even people who don’t go to church nor study the scriptures have heard about the “shepherds keeping watch over their flocks by night” who heard the angels tell of Jesus’ Birth. It’s in the carols sung and in the plays put on by children. So we often take for granted the fact that shepherds were given a miraculous encounter with heavenly beings and received news of life changing significance. But why did God choose them? If for no other reason, it shows us that God cares about and values each of us...whether a lowly shepherd or a wealthy king. We each have a place in God’s story. Amen!

Using “Silent Night” as the background music was the perfect choice for this devotional. The line “Son of God, love’s pure light” echoes your message. Jesus is the Light of the world and in Him, there is no darkness. Amen.
