My heroes of rallying. Especially Toivonen and Mr Maximum Attack Marku Alen. The mental toughness for him to drive those Lancia's when 3 friends have died in them. On a lighter note, I just saw a clip of T Salonen without a cigarette in hand while out of the car😊.

Had a copy of 'The Vatenen Touch' on VHS as a kid. Used to find all the gravel roads here in NZ and over drive all the ford escorts i had. So much fun.. I also drew outside the lines frequently on public roads and paid many a ticket for my efforts. That video cost me a lot more than the original purchase price!

I’ve just watched all four episodes of this remarkable series and it is, without doubt, the most insightful and professional insight into rallying in general, and the Finnish approach in particular, that I have ever had the pleasure of watching. I rallied at national and international level in the 1970s and 1980s, often in the same events as many of these Flying Finns - although they were leagues ahead of me, meaning that I was effectively in an entirely different event! In many of the events I was a co-driver, rather than a driver, but when I did drive I quickly realised that I would never, ever, have the time, commitment and more importantly, the skill to achieve their goals! I have been fortunate enough to have sat alongside Rauno in a Mini Cooper S on an exhibition test during the first Pirelli Classic Marathon, and with Eric Carlsson in a Saab at Goodwood, and been mesmerised by their apparently effortless skills. The re-creations in this series are really awe inspiring, with their minute attention to period detail. The fact that there are no driver interviews is also a real bonus; ‘just’ modest drivers calmly telling their stories in a truly humble manner. You might have guessed by now that I loved this story. I hope that the same production team can turn their skills to other areas of rallying, but Flying Finns are unbeatable!

Great material, came from the Midlands so the RAC rally and the Group B cars.

One of my fav country is Finland Those drivesr with "sissu" attitude made them so iconic to remember whether motorsport F1, Rally, or else. They attitude behind, and outside the wheel is so unique

Fun fact that this driver are just a man who sacrifice themselves for drive a race car from a company. Then they had great skill so ppl just love it by gave a sign

Great movie, I missed those guys. However I have bad feelings after watching Henri Toivonen's documentary lately. Lancia was a crazy and fascinating car, like all other group Bs, but as a team they are not worth mentioning and should be forgotten, for how they behaved after Henri's fatal accident.
