DJI's Winning Strategy in the Drone Market
The drone market is growing, but DJI remains the leader with a market share of over 70% thanks to its in-house manufacturing and cost control. In this video, I will discuss how DJI has managed to outpace its competitors, such as Intel, Yuneec, XAG, Skydio, and others, and what technologies enable the company to stay on top, including cameras, thermal imagers, and radars. What are the unique features of each technology and the genius of DJI's developers in utilizing them?
Additionally, you will learn about DJI's financial strategy, its investments in companies like Hasselblad and Livox, and how DJI is developing an ecosystem for developers while providing customer service worldwide similar to Apple Care. I will also cover the paradoxical situation in the American market, where the Chinese company DJI continues to maintain its leadership despite political pressure and constant restrictions, while Skydio and other competitors strive to catch up.
Thank you so much to everyone who watches! Please be sure to share your thoughts in the comments!

Hi. Sorry I didn’t ask for the right, as I thought using a tiny part of video in work of research is considered “fair use” due to UA-cam regulations. I have used part of your video to illustrate DJI’s accurate tracking person and obstacle avoidance functions. I’ve watched a lot of similar videos of other bloggers and found yours to be the most illustrative, detailed and well-shoot. I hope you understand my intentions, it wasn’t just coping. If it is suitable for you, I can mention your channel in the description the way you would want me to.

IMO as an outsider, even by competing healthily, i think US products still cant beat China's products in term of the ability to sell it at affordable price for international market. The downfall of GoPro (regardless of its terrible system as said by many), is heavily contributed by the availability of other cheaper alternative products coming from china.

@@kupis1408 You are absolutely right. If DJI is banned we will no longer have access to affordable drones. The entire situation is ridiculous. Almost all the end users including Law enforcement, search and rescue, and consumers fully support DJI.

This highlights the business culture clash. American biz culture emphasis too much on marketing and short-term high profit margin sectors. Political culture influence, maybe.? Chinese used to expect reward to come automatically as long as they work hard and result is good. Chinese must learn to claim prize they deserve. DJI founder show this in share negotiating. He rightfully rejected the claim that marketing deserve 16% of DJI (tech/manufacturing knowhow).

So basically DJI had a choice to choose between making drones strictly for corporations and government stuff. Or go the second route and go consumer. And this quite possibly was the best decision that they ever made. If they had gone with their first route nobody would really know who they are today. I mean people in China would. But they ended up going for the second consumer route. And this in turn caused their popularity and name to explode, now there's very few people on the planet that don't know the name DJI . Now in 2024 DJI is the dominant company for drones. Few companies can even come close. And their drones are incredibly popular among millions and millions of people. I have had three DJI drones. And my current one is the Air 3.

Wow, that video brought back a memory! Back in the late 90s/early 2000s, I saw my first-ever quadcopter at the TRW swap meet in El Segundo. This thing was huge, probably 3 feet across, with wooden arms! It was mesmerizing to watch it fly, even though they kept it pretty low to the ground (around 5 feet). It drew a massive crowd. This was way before DJI was even around. I have a feeling one of the aerospace engineers from the nearby companies built it. I remember thinking how amazing it was, especially since the only other remote-controlled aircraft I knew of back then were gas and electric helicopters (which always seemed super dangerous!). I even remember asking the pilot how he was able to keep it balanced. He spoke of some technology on it that would keep it balanced for hovering on its own in one spot.
