In this episode, Rev. Dr. Mendle Adams talks about the Jefferson Bible that was given to him by his father-in-law, Rev. Jesse C. Williams. Dad recently had this family heirloom restored by a book maker. The Bible was first published in 1904 by the Government Printing Office with authorization by the family of Thomas Jefferson.

We sang this in our church this morning, too. So sad. So moving.
I just need to comment. Was it really necessary for the choir director to have those ladies hold the amen word by themselves longer than the other people? I mean they had to start the note out and then all of a sudden he lets the other singers breathe for several seconds but makes those ladies keep holding the note longer. Isn’t that a little cruel and harsh? This is one reason I don’t like this particular song because of directors like this guy who want to put extra pressure on the soprano section while everyone else gets to breathe for a little bit. I don’t like it and in my opinion it’s not right. I felt bad for those ladies.
