ECHO Biography :
We introduce you to our new music project initiated by percussionist Tim Dodd, (creator of Balangandan - London, Eshee Havana - Addis Ababa, Head2HeaD - London), from his journeys and experiences in the world from England, Cuba, Ethiopia, Europe, Central and South America, Asia, Eastern Asia, Africa and beyond, and with confiding support from Satin Singh from a 35 year friendship of mutual music projects in London.
“Rethink” is a demonstration of what will be a future ECHO album release.
Here ECHO pays homage to 3 specific genres of music - Ethiopian - Amharic, Afro-Cuban and Jazz.
A hybrid never brought together before in such an exposure of individual characteristics to generate this unique hybrid of cultures, each expressing their own musical identity yet seamlessly melting and enhancing each other.
To achieve this ECHO sought the support and involvement of some of England’s finest musicians, achieved and respected in their own realms - and most suited to this beautiful combination and adventurous project.
The voice in these recordings is by Roza Kifle Gebresenbet, who was born in the capital city of Ethiopia - Addis Ababa. On Kra, also from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, the very talented and highly respected Ethiopian musician Dawit Seyoum. Highly respected musician Davide Mantovani from Italy is playing double bass, with Satin Singh playing timbales and hand percussion who is from Indian parentage yet born in Jinga Village, Uganda on shores of Lake Victoria.
Gifted John Crawford is featured on piano/keys and Tim Dodd from English parentage born in Korle Bu hospital, Accra, Ghana on congas and hand percussion.
Attention has been focused on details of each characteristic of the contributing musical genres to enhance each others voices.
This chemistry of cultural characteristics has resulted in a unique and loving combination of sounds in respect to music from across this beautiful planet.
This is our contribution through our collaboration for a better world of the future - one of love and harmony, allowing and reinforcing each others voices to express and embrace the unique and holistic combined beauty - for a greater understanding and expression of our world by embracing these musical energies and ever inspiring cultures.
