Stacking Joyo pedals Tidal Wave and Double Thruster
Dude, just got mine from Amazon to use only for parts building a fakey Dusty Hill p bass. For $60 out of the box this Bass is AMAZING, no bs.
@@DonAllenScott I agree. I bought 2
Just got one from Amazon basically for parts. I’m genuinely shocked at the tone and general quality for $60.😳
You sound like gale from breaking bad lol
@@loganveik never seen it. Gotta go check it out now
Why would you run two di boxes/pre amps? Surely either use the Mxr Or the Joyo?
@eveythingthatsadam the mxr I'm using as a boost. It doesn't have a XLR DI
@@klaymeister ah sorry, my mistake, thought that was the mxr 81
Agree
The sire z3 actually does the same for less too. Sonojono had issues with his z7 tho
@zachjones1716 yeah the idea of the extra pickup and stainless frets sounds great but I saw his video
If sterling would’ve switched to the 5 bolt joint and 18 volt pre I’d buy one but they’re too slow
Meanwhile dingwall sells their Chinese basses for $2-3k
@bobbyzig3879 if you watch any of their videos they basically imply they ship to them in a condition that's unacceptable. Then the Dingwall Canada people have to work on them for a long time
Great video! Thank you very much.
somewhen a manufacturer will come out with a 100Volt preamp and averybody will lose their minds..
Clay, tell me with all honesty; can the bass player of a rock band gig with one of these?
@aljuric5887 You could, just not sure how happy you would be with it. I did a few gigs with it alone but I wanted some more realistic amp character.
@klaymeister Ok, thankyou kindly.
Schecter dUg Pinnick Baron-H Bass, 1000 Solar Baritone bass 750 Jericho Alpha price varies but used can get for 700 Those are other 35 inch bead basses
@@redactedxx4219 the Jericho are awesome. I forgot about that brand.
@@klaymeister I sadly just sold mine. I had the 5 string and it was a bit too heavy for me. So funny enough I came here looking for lighter BEAD basses.
Stick with it; Practice nice and slowly, first.... Then, go Metal ! ❤
Common misconception about things made in china js that they are cheap. When its the company that contracted them to those specs. Not everything is cheap just because its from china. Just the companys that want to make as much profit without spending to make a quaility product.
@@swagwolfgang well it is cheaper and made it China. That doesn't necessarily mean it will be worse though
Well a Z3 ist 449€ here in Europe. Get proper tuners for around 120€ + proper fret- and nutwork from a luthier for around 250€. Then you have a way better Sterling for around 850€!
Noice! I’m gonna get the Aguilar pickup for mine.
@@SnarkyRC I have a 5 string with Agular DCB now
You could make a pedal out of this.
The Sire headstock is beyond ugliness, and 12 radius is not for me... I'm pretty sure it's a great bass but the look is either important for me
@@LucaLindemann I like both lol
So you didn’t get the z7 you got the sterling
Did you want the z7?
@magnuscarlwinegargarcia6807 I've had a Sterling since 2023. I want a Z7 too but, budget lol
do want a z7. I feel like I wouldn't have to upgrade it. I upgraded pickup, preamp and bridge on this
I have been using the Sonicake Boom Avenue for a while and the Sansamp preamp on it is really good but it takes up a rude amount of space considering I don't use any of the other effects. I am thinking I might go for this.
@@WilDBeestMF the tidal wave is pretty similar to the boom Ave but has more flexibility. You also have the option of the Sonic cake B Factory
@@klaymeister I'm happy with how the Boom Avenue sounds and functions but it's the fly rig take, so it's bar shaped and I really want a more traditional shape haha. I did see the other Sonicake but I like the look of the Tidal Waves more tbh.
😂🎉😢😮
Personally both Sire and Sterling have shit colors.
So I did buy a stealth pro 5 and here’s my 2 cents - neck - the neck has a deeper c shape by the nut but it shallows out . -upgraded pickups and wiring harness , there’s an emg preamp inside the bass and has this circut with 2 switches that lets you adjust the eq for the high end (high end pass) - through neck (enough said - there’s a lot of little craftsmanship things that I’ve noticed it feels like they took the original and made some improvements Overall the neck itself is fucking amazing , I’ve played a metric fuckton of different basses, if you like Chester 5 strings you’ll love this one
Will it make you play any better?
@@scottmuthard4036 depends
It's good for all of us because now Sterling is now forced to up their game
Yeah buddy I have 2 sire a v7 and a z3 and these basses are so awesome. I also have a sterling ray 5 hh limited edition and the z3 crushes it's pretty amp. It even has a active passive push pull on the bass boost and cut knob.
I agree, the monomyth also have more features 😊😊
the only issues with the sterling are the colour selection, the lack of 3+1 headstock and the overall slightly off shape(mostly the scratchplate)
@@SisterRose agreed on orange and green anyways
Couple things to also point out is that the Ethos HP is neck thru and the Performer is bolt on. The necks on the Performer are not roasted as well unlike the Pulse series. The Performers are also built on a “slab” body vs the contoured body on the Ethos. This could be a plus if you plan to upgrade the bridge. If a Spector has a contoured body, then you are stuck with the “Spector” bridge. Which some people can find it hard to get along with. String changes, intonation and parts are a pain. They recess the bridge into the body so an aftermarket bridge is not a direct drop in replacement. You can put any bridge you want on a Performer with very little issue.
LTD😊
Sterling are far too expensive now. A Ray35 should be 1000 euros, not 1500
Those strings were old when you put the CSx’s in weren’t they? 😊
@@AugustThor438 probably 😅
The best thing about a Sire bass is the rolled edges, those necks feel so good.
Same issue as Squier. For some, having the real "Telecaster" or "Stingray" name on it carries a lot of weight. A Sire T7 might play better, but it's not a Telecaster!
Excuse me for asking bro, even though I'm 4 years late, how come the mmtw-x pickup isn't there on the website?
@ahmadsaugani5357 I don't fully understand, but they only have a small amount of what they are actually capable of making on the site. I bought mine on ebay - the seller name is Don't Tell The Wife Guitars. I have messaged the seller and they say they can get a lot of special orders.
@@klaymeisterokay, thank you very much bro for replying to my comment.🙏🙏🙏
Bought the five string version when they first came out, sounded really good until the preamp stopped working. Replaced it with Bartolini electronics and pick-ups. Sounds just a good as my more expensive basses.
Are you still preferring the Joyo Tidal Wave over this?
@@joshdennis1 yeah just because it's easier to get the Tidal Wave a little bit cleaner.
Dingwalls are so great but I cant afford a Porsche lol
just bought this!!!!
I just ordered the Stealth 4 Pro EX on Reverb (B stock) for fuckin $750. Lets not forget that this particular 4 string bass has a 35" scale and BEAD string setup. 5 string tonal capabilities in a 4 string, baby. I cant wait to get it.
So I can buy two of the regular models and get one tuned to BEAD and one tuned Standard is what your telling me and still be under the pro model price 😂
Isn't the Blend dial right there on the panel?
@2000SkyView ill admit I don't fully understand that blend knob. I think it let's you blend in completely dry tone with any effect but I'm not sure if it's affected by eq or anything. It's not intuitive
@@klaymeister it blends input EFX with the dry signal, you can include the FX1 in the blend (default) chain1, or you can remove the FX1 from the blend by changing to chain2. I'm not 100% on how it works either. Take a look at the signal chain in the user manual. You can even exclude the Drive from the wet signal (look under the blend on tone studio) turn on the DRY DRIVE. This gets very confusing. It's not covered in the manual anyplace that I can see. BOSS really needs to make some tutorial videos for this amp.
Sire sounds incredible.... I really liked the Sire Vintage line but every time I see that head stock shape I walk away.
Sire basses are neck heavy. I can bet a crate of beer, that Z series will neck dive as fuck. In sitting position even more. Neck dive = shitty bass. Prove me wrong.
@@jarczan can't get one yet. We will see
Sire says, HOLD MY BEER 😂
Go for blackstar unity 500 i was amazed by the features 😊 OD,fuzz, dist Chorus+octave Compressor Flat, modern, classic
They can do a lot of things l, buit probably being release with firmware updates. FX section could be improved.
This is assuming the sound guy doesn't make your bass sound like crap and ignore you when you tell him that is the case. True, even if you do have an amp, the sound guy can still make you sound like crap. But at least if you have an amp next to you, you can sound good to yourself, and if you sound good to yourself, you will play better. That said, I do have a Genzler DI/Preamp. But I show up at a gig with only that if I'm confident the soundman knows what he is doing. If not, I'm going to bring my GK combo amp (with a built-in DI). In the band I generally play with, I have direct control over the sound system (I'm pretty much the soundman)--that is when I bring just the preamp/DI. I also play guitar and I tend to use just a pre/effects unit (Tech 21) and that sounds great straight through the PA system. But it seems to me that it is easier to screw the bass sound up if it is going direct (depending on the soundman's competence). As for in-ears, I've never heard my bass sound good through in ears. Just do not like the sound. Plus it's like sitting at home playing along to MP3s. So I at least need a good floor monitor if I'm going direct. For recording, I never use an amp. It's always either the Genzler Pre or plugins on the recording software.
@@christocr Interesting experience. I don't know how a sound guy could mess up a SansAmp.
@@klaymeister Most don't. But some of them come from a "DJ" background and have a certain EQ curve in their head that is just way too much really low end coming out of the subs and it makes the bass guitar super muddy and undefined, and a rather unrealistic idea of "the perfect bass tone." I even had one clown that, in his tri-amped PA set up had my bass guitar muted in the mid and high end speaker cabs. So the bass guitar was routed to only only come out of the subs that were set to crossover at 80 hz or so. At that gig I was wondering why my bass sounded great out of my amp and totally sucked out front. That was it. When I asked him and he told me that, I calmly told him to run it full range. And suddenly it sounded better, even to him. Some of these guys have some pretty weird ideas. Luckily most aren't that clueless.
Viking Bass God. 👍
