Build a Betta Drip system, for Wild Bettas and Fishes

In this video, I will show you how to build a betta rack or drip system. This system allows me to keep different species of Wild bettas as well as rare fish like Licorice gourami. A system like this is very space efficient and saves you a lot of maintenance time. They are also great for breeding fish, not just bettas. I have built a lot of racks in the past so I want you to understand some of t...
Quarentine wild betta using betta rack
Переглядів 406Місяць тому
#wildbetta #shorts Short video showing how I quarentine my fish after I have imported them. Wild bettas and wild caught fish are almost always imported with diseases. The first step to combat this is to eliminate external parasites before it takes hold. Diseases like epistylis, velvet, ich and collumnaris are very difficult to eliminate after they take hold. #wildbetta #sickfish #quarentinefish

Thank you for the information. Do you keep a light on the Daphnia tank for 12 hours similar to green water?
@seannunes2041 no, not important
@@BlackwaterAquatics Thank you!

Thank you for the information.
Amazing that they go through the green water so fast. I'm trying to get my daphnea cultures going right now
Hi, how and where could you get the medicine? I really need them now… 😢
@@jinyfilmlivinginhawaii8147 you can use furan-2 on amazon
Very informative video. Make more of it 😊
Thanks, this is really helpful
I love this system. I was just thinking today about how to set up a betta breeding project, so the timing couldn't be better!
The medication of choice at the LFS that I work at is cupramine. What are your thoughts on the pros and cons of copper vs your methods?
@@C-Hirsuta copper is inferior vs dye base medication
What a brilliant system! Thank you for sharing.
Wait you trust those shelving? What kind of brands could've sworn they held lower than 900lbs.. Also love your water changing connector system.
How do you treat the tanks since they're connected? How do you calculate the gallon amount assuming you just do all the tanks at once? Unless I misunderstood. //Read transcript; didn't watch full video did skip on timeline for algorithm though// Sorry to bother you. 😅
@Gingerfrost those shelving are rated around 900lbs but it's strong enough for 2.5 gallons. I had this for almost 2 years now. The only weakness is that it rust and eventually will need to be replace. As for the fish, you need to quarentine them separately. Very important that you don't bring in sick fish. I talk about it at the end of the video.
Awesome!!!!
Can you do species spotlights? There isn't much on fishtube about a lot of these rare Bettas!

Good job, aquarists must contribut to conservation
I had a so called king Betta that was that big. He didn't live very long though. Most of them dont in my experience . I'm sure it's from the way beyond over breeding.
So I've bred betta (short tail and long tails) . How come the body of the offsprings will not turn out like its parents. What i mean is the body will thick and and short body, the offspring male head doesn't look masculine. Looks of low quality structural and colors. I've seen other peoples home bred bettas and it looks the same as well. Just a quick glance and its i can obviously see its a homebred. What is the cause of this...water quality, indoor breeding, over feeding..etc?
❤
Amazing ❤
What about a 34 Gallon and 1 male and 4 females
@@Inspire_A_Rich_Mindset would work
@@BlackwaterAquatics cheers keep up the great content Wild Bettas are awesome fish
Are these doses for only QT tanks or can I dose my whole tank in this concentration
@@andrewvu974 you can acrually dose the whole tank with HP it's relatively safe unless you OD
@@BlackwaterAquatics I have nano fish, and a 10 gallon, so 12 ml’s would be the dose?
@andrewvu974 remove the nanos and use acryflavine with salt (tablespoons per 5 gal) this is a safer way to treat velvet. Then on your main tank turn up the heat and leave it alone for 2 weeks. Hp can be deadly for nanos
@@BlackwaterAquatics in my case I’m having issues with ich, would the same treatment work?
@andrewvu974 yes with ich you cna use meth blue and salt with some heat You can not treat ich and velvet whem there's subtrate they ill come back unfortunately
Great fish bro this a rare one
so they can live together?
Betta antuta gets over 5 inches lol
I’ve bought them from him before, I know he keeps them. Not sure what he meant here
@SethWheeler-d1r betta antuta get big but they are not bigger than these guy full size. The one in this video isn't even the biggest I seen and I have seen photos of people having specimen that are bigger than the biggest one I have personally seen.
@GenghisKanghis no one has kept more wild bettas than me. Trust me when I say that betta antutas are not the biggest. Antutas are up there in terms of the heaviest. 5" is only 12cm, the largest ones are over 14cm.
Great job on keeping a wild species true to the genes. Dont mix the species please there much more beautiful this way
Breed them with Splenden and let me know!
@@Nashoba007 can't breed with splenden lol
I have betta anabadoites from central borneo, and man it’s Huge!! I think about 13-14cm
@tuliskuasal9848 i also had anabadoites before, I think these guys might be bigger tbh lol but yeah 14cm is nuts.

woahhh thats so cool. Are all these bettas from thailand?

@@BlackwaterAquatics thats so sick dude. I just ordered mine from Thailand. just a little Halfmoon plakat. Will i need to quarantine him too? He is a fancy not a wild and was likely in an aquarium environment his whole life.
@zdamha6890 all fish from thailand farm come with velvet, ich or worms. You should always treat them. I made some videos on this. I'm planning to make a complete quarentine guide
@@BlackwaterAquatics okay cool, i bought some Ich treatment, and some Parasite medication. I also have some Almond leaaves im going to use during the quarantine process. I only have the one Betta coming in and it looked real healthy in the pics. How long should i keep it quarantined. And i do not have a fancy quarantine setup just a mini betta tank we bought years ago for breeding. I figured it would be fine as long as i do water changes every 2-3 days?
@zdamha6890 almond leaves doesn't do much. But the ich meds will. You can quarentine betyas in containers and even water bottles as long as you do water changes
Have you crossed imbelis x Hendra?
@@moza337 you can not cross splendens with coccinas
@@BlackwaterAquatics Why?

I'm becoming passionate about wild bettas. I'm buying a short and long 60 liter aquarium and I have home water values Conduction 540 Kh7 Gh7 Ph7 Prefer long-lived, large wild bettas that can stay in pairs. If they were as colorful and iridescent as possible, even better! I'm also looking for non-shy bettas, possibly interactive with humans. Which species do you recommend?
@AnnaMariaCiniErak hi ana, I would go with a pair of antuta or another species like taeniata. Both of which are available on my site.
You should deworm them. Most imported bettas will carry tapeworms.
@sureguy8124 I deworm them on week 3 with fenbendazole week 2 I use metronidazole. Though I don't see alotnof tape worms in indoneasian fish as I do fish from SE Asia
@@BlackwaterAquatics great job. My VIP plakats from Thailand will carry tapeworms. Some will show tapeworm and most won't show any worms coming out of its anal. When I do treat them for tapeworm I use prazipro, when I treat them I put them in the dark so when the worms drop out they don't eat it. I use a suction to get the dead worms so they don't eat it.
@@sureguy8124 great idea!
thanks for sharing, really enjoy your vids. I breed paradise fish, any new fish get 3 step treatment, salt 30gr / liter (it is a very heavy dose so watch the fish carefully) 3~5 mins-> rest tank -> potassium permangante 2~3mg/L 5 mins-> rest tank -> hydrogen peroxide 30% 2 drops/L > rest tank. why all the steps? there are certain parasites, bacteria and viruses that will make it through the individual treatments. salt will dry up and kill many external parasites but maybe not all flukes or fungus. PP will get many flukes fungus, bacteria and parasites, but not all viruses. the H2O2 will clear any necrotic tissue left after the first 2 treatments and also hit most of the pathogens that escaped the first 2 treatments. I do these in stages letting the fish recover before each bath and have managed to cure many fish that come in with external problems. they then get a long soak in salt 3gr/L + Acriflavine for antiseptic recovery. this is a long process, but as you know, once you let something in, it can be very difficult to get it out. better to stop it at the door and maybe lose a fish than let something in.
@rjv2395 this is great information!
