Introduction to Fluid Motion: Pathlines, Streaklines, and Streamlines.
This is a video that introcues basic concepts of fluid motion, using different visualizaton techniques extracted from a CFD simulation of particles flowing around a cylinder.
This video was developed as part of a demonstration for a Fluid Mechanics course that I teach.

FULL LENGTH HD Natural Gas-Powered Rotating Detonation Engine (RDE) Simulation (HD with music)
Переглядів 3,4 тис.4 роки тому
#detonations #cfd #computationalfluiddynamics #engineering #aerospaceengineering #combustion This is an *updated* video of a toy-model RDE simulation. This is a 2D Euler simulation of a self-similar unwrapped RDE geometry. For simplicity, we have assumed calorically perfect gas with one-step combustion chemistry, using model parameters that correspond to premixed methane-oxygen (CH4 2O2). The v...

This is a large scale 2D simulation of a single pulse from a pulse compression detonation system, modelled using the CLEM-LES. What is shown is the temperature field. This work is featured in: Maxwell, B., Korytchenko, K., and Shypul, O. Numerical simulations of compression and detonation strokes in a pulse compression detonation system. In Ivanov, V., Pavlenko, I., Liaposhchenko, O., Machado, ...

This is the density field of a shock-flame complex undergoing transition to detonation. This was modelled in 2D using the CLEM-LES Published details are available in B.Maxwell, A.Pekalski, and M.Radulescu. Modelling of thetransition of a turbulent shock-flame complex to detonation using the linear eddy model. Combust. Flame, 192:340-357. 2018. doi:doi.org/10.1016/j.combustflame.2018.02.013

Thank you so much for the video!! I'm in my introductory fluid mechanics course and I was so confused as to how these three were different, but once I could see the unsteady state example that was way too hard for me to picture without a rendering, it totally clicked, again, thank you so much! <3

Yes! As long as the vector field change for any reason!

Hi, the details of the simulation was published here: doi.org/10.1016/j.ijhydene.2018.03.197 The code is of course not a packaged CFD code, but rather an in house solver. Happy to answer any questions: brian.maxwell@case.edu

A jet engine with 11 rotating detonation combustors that are injected with detonation waves by a coupled and geared radial engine ...The radial engine is essentially a pulse compression detonation system that injects detonation waves into the rotating detonation combustors. The radial engine is clutched. In other words i am trying to fit the pulse compression detonation system into a jet engine in order to produce canular combustors that are themselves rotating detonation combustors. Is this possible?
