My service rifle in SADF service was the R5 which that almost is exackly only differance I seen is the bigger sight ring on the R5 and a slightly differant welding point for the wire for the front liing. best rifle for bush war the R 5 . best bush carbine ever. thank You. I cleaned mine. never jammed. My NCO never creaned his in our 18 month tour. never jammed.because we shot off all our ammo. Before going home never jammed.

A rather beautiful piece of video. Just the right amount of light to give it atmosphere. No commentary, so very peaceful, and the lights of the houses, ships and quayside reflected in the water..... Even the wind adds a certain je ne sais quoi.

These guns are fairly rare in the UK, rarer than the SPAS 12, which they are derived from. I have only ever seen one for sale and it had a full pistol grip with a wooden stock. I don't know if you are aware but the lever safety is potentially dangerous and will eventually fail resulting in a chambered cartridge being fired when the lever is operated. They were recalled by Franchi in the 90s to be converted to push button safeties. Might be worth getting it converted.
