BIKERS EASTER EGG RUN GLASGOW 2013
I WAS THERE 😢😢😢
I was born in Whitehall st 1935 family from inniskillen ❤ 15:39
I lived in Dorset street then Argyle street, many happy memories kicking about in the 60's.
Howdy from Texas ❤ My ancestors were this Anderson family. They lived in Stobcross house. Blows my mind. ✌️
a great place to live if you were a church goer as you would have been spoiled for choice😄
born bred 479stvincent st went tokentroad school now living aus since1967 greatpics
You briefly mentioned that Anderson Citadel stood on Argyle at across from St Mark's church I wonder if your aware that this was in fact an old theatre/ music hall called Princess Theatre this was the home of THE FIRST SALVATION ARMY CORPS IN SCOTLAND THE SECOND FOLLOWING SOON WAS AT.BRIDGTON OYMPIA ST.
I was born in No71 Cranston St 1956,,,we where the McCluskey Family, Gerald,James,Thomas,Patricia,Joseph,Norah, wee Margaret was born a few years later when we moved to Parkhead,,Anderson will always be in our Heart's,,,
The forest that was logged to create the Timbers for that ship has probably grown back and been logged Again by now
Roddy it's been a pleasure to meet you, and we thankyou for all your amazing help you gave our baby boy Harrison. All the best to your and your family.
Thank you so much for bringing back so many memories my grandparents lived in Warroch St and Whitehall St I remember the tragedy of Cheapside St fire...... I'm now 75yrs and have travelled all over the world ...you have transported me back 70yrs it seems like yesterday...
Good stuff John, but Grace Street is still there, it's at the Anderston Church the Wee Square Buildings, my ex wife used to stay at number 22.
I know cities are forever changing but the destruction of Anderston (and Springburn too) and it's communities was dreadful, especially that affected by the building of the motorways... It's surprising how much has changed now, since 2007.
29:16 Had to laugh at that - you're probably right!
This is wonderful and much appreciated. Thank you for all your hard work and focus.
Thank you John, I lived on Argyle Street, near the junction with St Vincent Street. We were sent to Knightswood when they knocked our tenement down. I had to smile when I heard that some of the flats they built then are being demolished now - my Nana lived in the bank building on the corner of Argyle Street and Shaftesbury Street, I see it is still standing. My Nana told me about Wild Bill Hicocks touring show which came down Argyle Street when she was younger, it's documented and a good story for you to explore. Thank you, best 40 minutes of nostalgia I've ever seen.
My paternal family (Rooney)lived in Anderston all of their married lives they lived at 611 Argyle Street (Teachers close )a big family their children married locals Kennedys Burkes Fees Dalys .I have fond memories of the area .
Do you happen to have any of kelvinhaugh around the church
Kelvinhaugh st.
😂 I moved to Anderston in 1966 from Dublin ( I was 10) and I still live in Anderston after all these years. We lived at 193 Kent Road ( just a couple of closes up from the Two Ways pub. As seen in your vid) It’s amazing to see the Anderston transformation of the years. This is a fantastic vid, and thank you for your time & for posting this. 👍 Love from a long time resident of Anderston 💚☘️
Thankyou I thoroughly enjoyed this my mum was born in Grace st and her mum was born there too they then moved to clevden lane where I visited often as a child my mums maiden name was Patricia grew she had an older sister Cathy and a younger brother johnny
Thank you John. I'm doing some family history research. My paternal Great Grandparents with young family in tow including my Grandfather settled in Hill Square Anderston sometime between 1910 and 1920, having originally came from Athy Co Kildare. My paternal Grandmother came from Whitehall St and my grandparents would have met and married during the 1920s. This helped give me a good bit of context to the area as well as a trip down memory lane from my Glasgow Uni days in the mid 1980s when I lived in Garnethill and done my fair share of socialising around the area. Life feeling that wee bit more enriched having just sat through first viewing and no doubt I'll revisit your film again soon. Again thanks John, I'm grateful.
Sorry for not replying earlier I have just seen your post. I made the video eight years ago. Hill Street became Guest Street when Anderston became part of Glasgow. I'm glad the video was useful and you enjoyed it. Best wishes JohnJohn

Great day it was
(Cont) This ship lay in the corner of a metal works plant and she was just left to rot away. If not for the Australian funding it would be scrapped by now.
What diffrerence does it make where she was built. This ship
She was built on the river wear in sunderland in 1865 ,she is the worlds oldest surviving clipper ship , sunderland is her home.
Why do you say she is coming home? She was built in Sunderland. That makes Sunderland her home does it not?
Looks like the people off Sunderland dnt give a rats about it sitting their rotting away people off Adelaide funded the money so Adelaide is her home were she was saved and loved the most
Great to see her coming home trust the South Australian look after her good voyage fair winds and calm seas
Man can't understand a thing
Great bunch. Didn't do my emphysema any good but what the hell it was a nice morning.
well done you, one day these pictures will be very important.
I like the idea of a group of lawyers establishing the case to create a new legal market to meet the growing consumerism of the time. Well thought out by this bloke
motor spotted sittin at traffic lights @ 1:00. sorry big chap noo empty streets :}
OMFG I CANCELLED THIS VIDEO AFTER I REALISED MOST OF THE QUESTIONS HAD BEEN ALREADY ANSWERED. DO THE RESEARCH FOR YOURSELF! Queen will still be head of state, we will still retain the Sterling pound, an independent Scotland will NOT be a member of NATO, it will want to become a member of the UN, the north sea gas & oilrevenues will rightfully return to Scotland, if not, they're asking for bombs, an independent Scotland will pay the UK national debt in terms of its population size,CAN'TCOMMENMORE
@scotsskier yes, so long as it's not a mud slinging excercise or stupid scare stories from redtop rags!
@clydeferries FInally got an email from SPT today. The current position is that STP are negotiating the sale of both the Renfrew Rose and Yoker Swan. They sdid they'd let me know the outcome.
@clydeferries I' don't but as it was operated by the SPT I dropped them an email. I'll let you know their response.
You would happen to know where the Renfrew Rose went or who's looking after it?
@Scottishwatcher The drive for independence in Scotland will, if nothing else, focus the English and their moribund establishment into an examination of just what they are all about. Right now on the daily politics they are naval gazing on why there is no English identity nor an English Parliament. What an English economy will look like with 20% VAT and more, I have no idea, nor do I care.
Notice how unionists questions on Independence are always based on either uncertainties or negativity, they simply don't get it. Labour tried to spread unionist propaganda to the Scottish government in the Scottish parliament and as a result of finding fear and smear tactics don't work on Scots, London based unionist party Labour suffered the heaviest defeat they've ever endured since their founding.
@Scottishwatcher I don't believe all I read in the papers particularly white papers.
Just can't understand where all this hatred came (and till comes) from..
They were all taken after noon. It was Christmas day 2008 abiout tehonly day of the year when Glasgow Streets are so quiet.
