Located in the Koppal district, close to Anegundi across River Tungabhadra from Hampi, Anjanadri Hills is believed to be the birthplace of the Hindu lord Hanuman. Born to Anjana, lord Hanuman was also called Anjaneya and hence the hill is called Anjanadri hills, believed to be his birthplace.
The panoramic views of the mesmerising landscapes, the astonishing sunset views and the scenic views of the Tungabhadra River flowing between the mountains and rocks will take away all your strain or fatigue if at all you have any. You can also view the Hampi ruins and the other majestic hills in the neighbourhood.
How to reach:
The best way to reach any destination to the last mile is by road. Anjanadri Hills is located in the Koppal district and it doesn’t have an airport. You can reach the hills by crossing the Tungabhadra River from the Hampi side via a coracle boat. These boats are easily available.
By Air
The nearest airport is the Vijayanagara Airport approximately 72.3 km and takes about an hour and thirty minutes. The nearest international airport is Bangalore, about 347 km and takes about 5 hours and 35 minutes to reach the hills. Hubballi airport is 123 km and takes about 2 hours to reach the location. Hubballi and Vijayanagara airports are well connected with Bangalore, Mysore and Hyderabad.
By Rail
The nearest railway stations are Koppal, Hospete and Munirabad. All three stations are about 40 km away and take around an hour to reach the hills by road. Local auto rickshaws or cabs can be hired from the station. All three stations are well connected with Bangalore, Mysore, and other major stations of Karnataka.
By Road
The best way to reach the Anjanadri Hills is by road. Koppal being the district headquarters, it still takes about an hour to reach from the city centre. State-run public transport buses or your vehicles can be considered to reach the hills.
Quick Information:
1. Beware of monkeys. Do not feed or tease them.
2. There are about 550 plus steps and takes about 45 mins to climb the hill.
3. Dress appropriately while entering the temple.
4. You can leave your footwear outside the temple.
5. There is no entry ticket to the temple.
6. Carry your water bottles and you can refill them in the temple.
7. Bring your snacks and food if you wish to spend some time at the top of the hill.
