15:50 No, it's *NOT* legal. It's a misconception that also exists with some Dutch people. A small amount is tolerated for personal use only. However, this means that it can be confiscated. The police are not actively looking for it and they are not stationed in front off the coffee shop, but if it is found, it might be confiscated. So, if you are stopped by the police, you can try and prevent a search by not smelling like te stuff, respectfull and correct cooperation and carry a mandatory ID card/passport/drivers license! If you do happen to have a small amount, it will not have any legal consequences. Of course you have to be 18 years or older, not participating in traffic (that includes also walking and biking!) and you cannot use it in public. Use it at the coffeeshop or at home. Generally as long as you ain't misbehaving or causing any inconvenience, a lot is tolerated.

There are many factors that contributed to my well being in the Netherlands: take sufficient time to research and study your host country. Fluency in the Dutch language accelerated my intergration into the Dutch society. Most importantly, building stable and reliable relations with Dutch nationals.

You can also just order a coffee in a coffee shop. No problem...nobody is gonna looks strange if you order just a coffee without the weed.😁

You get into the hospital when an ambulance brings you there, or when another doctor refers you there (most of the time, a GP - huisarts in Dutch). I'd call a hospital if there was something about an upcoming appointment or if I specifically needed input from the doctor who has been treating me. Calling the hospital because you're sick just doesn't make sense to me.

On the eyeinfection: With things like that you have to go to your general practicioner. He will examine it and if nescessary prescribe eyedrops and if those don't help send you to an eye specialist at the hospital. Pharmacies here do not give out medicine unless prescribed. You can only get over the counter stuff there without a prescription from a doctor.

It's funny, the Netherlands used to be the only place in Europe (on Earth??) where you could smoke cannabis legally, but other countries in Europe are now legalizing because it's becoming legal (and SO popular) in the United States. Europeans don't seem to learn much from each other, at least not the good ideas, but we're apparently not willing to be less socially liberal than the Americans 😂 Weed can still get you killed in some countries. You can buy it anywhere in Thailand, but then you fly to the Philippines and forget you have some gummies on you - and it's PRISON for you.

Weed is not actually legal here. That's a common misconception about the Netherlands. It is _tolerated_ , however, in small quantities.

I have lived in Groningen for a long time. I was in the inner city near one of the old coffeeshops. A big old fashioned Mercedes stopped infront of that shop. A farmer came out of the car. He tapped his wooden shoes against the lower side of the car, to get all the dried mud of it. Then he openend the trunk and got out a bale of not hay but of that green stuff. He carried it into that shop. Yep, nationally grown. Thus next time you see a farmer making hay bales. There are farmers that make other 'hay' bales.
