I seriously had forgotten how unsafe Mid-Ohio was in '69... the first race I saw there. The camera's view is out of thunder valley, thru the kink, and down into the carousel. The SCCA marshalls are standing where the guard rail will be. No run off gravel, no tire walls. And, the condition of the existing guard rail visible in front of the camera? Gawd! Thank goodness there were a ton of safety improvements that fall & the following spring.

The pace car driver is awesome! And I really miss working F&C in those conditions and also miss how easy the flags are to see when they are actually in your line of sight.
