Stray With Me
United States
Приєднався 16 гру 2011
Welcome! I am Jessie and have been living alternatively since 2019 when I moved into a van with my puppy Shasta. We traveled the PNW full-time for 2.5 years and are now part-time travelers in my 4x4 truck. I hope you find inspiration for living the way you want and will stray from normal with me.

Transforming A $150 Craigslist Truck Shell
The exterior of my truck camping setup is not completely done but I am so happy it looks basically new with only a paint job!
I used the PPG paint from Home Depot. They have a line that is exterior rated and can be applied to fiberglass. I did not do a top coat, leaving it as a satin finish. It still looks great, after over 6 months.

How's your Boles Aero project coming along? I just purchased a 1964 Boles Aero E220 and am currently gutting it just like you did. Any update on your project? Thanks!
Vlog style please
Lmao when i tore my camper down i found a vcr tape porn and a bunch of unopened condoms,,,,thats too funny ...thank god im rebuilding everything ,,, always wear proper protection when doing demo thats for sure ...
Ah im not second guessing myself lol sooooo funny , i feel your pain , i too got to a point and went what am i doing 😣😑😶 now that i totally gutted mine and decided to start from the floor up im feeling better every piece i replace , keep at it and the reward will be tremendously worth it ...
Just started my vintage rebuild on a 17 foot , thought i have alot of work , you got bigger trailer then me , ill be watching your build now i stumble apon your channel , i agree about documenting it , im doing the same , my channel is based on antique and vintage sewing machines but i love all things vintage and always wanted a camper from that time , so im doing videos as well , got a 71 17T Glendale Glenelle and im doing complete rebuild all together , not pulling the skin , just pieces as i go , you can check it out and tell me how im doing if you like lol , im going to go see how you came along with this project ...thanks for sharing ...
Wow! That turned out really nice! Great job!
Thank you!
Looks like teh same camper shell I had on a 1984 F-150 back in my Navy days The door handle had a square shaft that stuck out. Had a hasp riveted to teh tailgate. I would put the slot on the hasp over the shaft, perfect fit. A very good lock for the handle while inside the shell . Also modified sliding door locks that fit onto the sliding window rails Added a motorcycle inner tube to seal between teh cab and shell. Great job on your effort!
Thank you for the tips about locking the windows! The drawers have locking handles but it is always better to do a little extra. I’m going to replace the t-handle lock on the shell because it didn’t come with a key. I have a foam gasket between the truck rail and shell but the bed rails are not perfectly square. It was a tried and true farm truck and the bed got a little beat up. There are places it leaks that I just can’t seal perfectly no matter what I do. Oh well haha
You should do more on the truck itself Obs ford trucks are really popular right now might get you alot more views.
I have one and was wondering about the truck. Great idea!
There will be some upgrades in the future but I plan on keeping a lot of it stock. Fix the paint of course but it was kept in really good condition by the first owner and only had 125k miles when I got it 🙌
@@patchadams4me what questions do you have about the truck, I’m happy to answer them! When I do the truck shell camper tour I’ll also be talking more about the truck specs
@@StrayWithMe nice I subscribed I like your hands on style and video editing.
@@briannishi3728 thanks!
Nicely done it looks awesome.
Thanks!
Trucks lookin' good.I totally agree about the prep before you can paint.I hate it.Great video.
Thanks Jason!
Nice
Hi there. I was thinking do you want to insulate any of the walls and the ceiling before any covering? Maybe check for any possible leak spots and get them sealed outside/inside. I like your idea of the pine shiplap on the ceiling,it's a lighter color and natural wood. I'm not sure what color you would like to have on the sides and you wanted the grooves in the paneling gone. There's different choices for you in this camper shell project. Have a nice time and take cars. 🪚🔨📐
Hi! Thank you for the advice! The next video I posted is about what happened to this camper. Almost exactly a year ago this camper broke and fell off my truck while driving because of decades of water damage that i couldn’t see 🫠 I got a more common fiberglass shell and built it out and love it. Really wish this one worked out though, maybe in the future I’ll find one with less damage
@@StrayWithMe,I have a fiberglass canopy too and I have the back of my truck built out too. My Dad helped me with it back in 2019. It's simple and functional . Take care 🙂
Good to see you back and a massive welcome to the new pupper 😊
Thank you! Zephyr has been the most perfect addition to the family ☺️
Good job with the grinder. My tomatoes went crazy this year. There is about an inch of snow on the garden right now.
It was 90 two days ago here 😂 finally cooling down for the season though
Love your dog and the truck! Definitely know all about the nose marks on the windscreen 😅
oh man yeah no matter what I do that side of the truck has nose marks lol I got a second dog and his spot is behind me and that window is so dirty now too
An updates on this project?
I am editing a video with an update! It was a very hot summer so I took a bit of a break 😅
Esta super Linda tu van, felicidades ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
That back section opens two ways. Single door and the complete "wall" will lift like a hatch.
The camper was so water damaged that it fell and broke off while driving. But the door was not like that. The main wall had to be bolted through the floor and latched on the sides. I know what you were thinking though, I’ve seen camper shells like that. This one wasn’t like that.
Has Potential and Needs A LOT of WORK!!?
Good Luck with your Project
If you Don't Mind me asking..... Where are you doing this Project At... I Have a 1956 AERO -BOLES ESTRILLTA and I have to work on it Also.. But it is Very WORTH it.!!!
Yeah lots of work but it spent its entire life in California so it has no rust and it’s aluminum framed 🙌 great bones to build off of
I don’t disclose my location online, but I’m in California
👍🏼 great video, glad your build has worked out. Looks like you guys had fun. Glad to see you’re hanging with atoyotacalledamelia; nice guy there!👍🏼🍻
Vidéo très sympa 👍
Cool video, I was going to go work on a fence for the garden and saw your video was up.The deer, elk and bear are bad this year.I might get a few tamatoes.
The spiders and slugs are bad here. All the rain we had in June 🙃
Beautiful ❤️❤️ place good food and Peace ✌️ 🐕🦺🐕🦺🐕🦺❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ 🤓👋👋
Thank you!
When you put the bottom on it should square everything up.
Yeah I’m no pro and I know a lot of other people arent so I share every step, struggle and thought process to help other amateurs haha it did square up and the drawers are now the most square thing I’ve ever made
You did great better than I could have.
Awesome,, very nice build..keep it up
Thank you!
Hi, did you finish the camper? If so, did you film it? Thanks for sharing. Everything is looking good.
I haven't finished everything yet. It's functional as is so I have gone camping in it a few times to see what I need to do next/what I want to fix.
I think you're doing a better job than I would do.Looks good to me.
Thank you!
I’m only 30 and I already feel like that souja boi cranks me more than I crank that souja boi 😢
I love your honest approach to your videos. Sharing your trials and tribulations along with your successes is valuable! Great video!😊
Love the setting, warm fire on a cool evening, there's nothing better, I can almost smell the mountain air.
It’s getting to triple digits at the end of the week where I live so this trip was a great last taste of cool air 😅
@@StrayWithMeDealing with smoke from the wildfires in Canada here in Michigan, they're saying air quality should improve within the next couple days. Good luck with the triple digits, don't work to hard and stay cool.
@@crazymichigander7204 the stuff in the air during wildfires is really nasty, wear an n95 mask when you have to be outside. I’ve been stuck traveling in my van when the AQI was around 450. It’s not fun feeling like you can’t take a full breath in
Hey what's going on girl Love the truck camper build your doing and its coming right along I can't wait until your done I do have a suggestion for you since you already have your power station You might look into getting a Portable Ice maker so you don't have to buy Ice Water is Free in any and all Rest Rooms Don't buy it when its Free its the same water its just in a Rest room I've done camping for 40 yrs and Don't pay for water ever
Got that right.
Shinji crank that souja boi
Looks like a good job to me.Math isn't my style either.
😍😍😍 you’re amazing
Those battery banks changed everything. That's the only one I've seen with the jumping capability too.Looks like a good setup. The gardens going in tomorrow, I'm getting tired of waiting.
I am looking at a Boles Aeres - 1950ish. The exterior appears good, but the inside needs to be gutted, the door is missing and the windows have been removed and need to be put back in place (assuming they are all there). There is no undercarriage. Just curious - what would you value something like this?
I wouldn’t pay more than 1200 for that, and that would be the CA price so if you are in another state I’d hope it’s cheaper like $800 or less. The fact that there is no door and no aluminum undercarriage means you will be spending a lot to replace those important things. Most campers that are over 15 years old should be gutted unless they have been stored in a barn their whole life and the have been meticulously resealed. There is a Boles Aero FB group that is very helpful with this kind of information too
I love the way is turning. So much space . I got a 1960 that I am working on , thanks for this videos . Now you got me motivated
Taking out the bathroom wall makes it feel so open. I’m going to build it back up again but it’s cool to see it like this!
Getting closer to that much needed road trip! 👏🏻
One step at a time!
Great job looks very nice wana help with my van lol thank you for sharing ,big hugs from MN
I’ve got too many projects already 😂
@@StrayWithMe me too lol,big hugs
Love the fabric! It looks great!:-)😊
100% EFFORT WITH GOOD RESULTS! I just replaced my headliner on my '97 f150. Your assumption is correct; the entire pressboard _easily_ comes down and flexes to remove from the cab. It makes it so nice to have it laying down to apply the adhesive and smooth out the applied fabric. The drill driver makes more effort than a simple phillips driver. You truly did a good job. Btw, I subscribed.
I like the pattern, I thought you did a good job.I did a Dodge single cab, with A Navajo print blanket. The struggle is real.
I almost did a blanket, couldn’t find one I loved enough. I seriously bought like 8 fabric samples because I was so indecisive 😂
Shit I hope she can drive well lol
It’s going to be parked long term, like a tiny house. I’ll only move it when I buy land and can put it in its final home. Now that I’ve been doing work on it. I think the frame is good, if it were to travel i would only feel confident with it if it had the axles looked at/replaced.
Believe me I know the feeling, had to have my car towed a couple weeks ago, water pump went out. Hope it's not too bad and can get fixed easily, you be safe and take care.
This was a while ago, van has been sold. This particular tow was because my back brake drum wasn’t fitting right after a friend helped me replace my brakes. It was smoking 😅 the second ever van break down was the timing chain, radiator, water pump and a few other things in the cooling system. Probably the most expensive fix
❤❤❤❤❤
Looks to me like you've gotten A lot acommplished. You'll love the angle grinder once you get the hang of it.I decided not to grow zucchini this year so I can plant more tomatoes.Great video.
I wasn’t sure if my tomatoes would sprout but they finally have 🙌 I’m probably going to have to gift a lot of veg this summer if they all produce
Yep, same here.
It's beautiful I see potential ANNIE SLAON PAINT will solve that little issue ..
Good work! I am impressed by your prep and eye to safety!
I’m so glad you’re able to use some of grandpas tools! He had so many treasures that he collected so I know he’s going to be guiding you as you create things with all of those items! And I love that necklace! I think I’m going to purchase something! Yay! 💛💛💛
