Fantastic interpretation of Appalachian Spring and the original ballet, performed by the Orchestra.
Hail to thee, Maryland🎉
Utter perfection.
🔥🔥💯‼️
That was nothing short of incredible… Transcends words. What a piece….and what a performance!! Simply amazing….
Just Wow! This is amazing!
Well, Appalachian Spring is dance music.
Wonderful singing. Looking forward to welcoming your voices to our stage!
I just saw this and am absolutely blow away!! FABULOUS!!
Wow!!! Congratulations for your hard work🤗
Magnificent! Uniquely expresses the composers intent. It would be cool to see Symphonic Dances from West Side Story presented in this manner.
A dream
Wow, I never thought I'd see an orchestra doing an in theater marching band routine, but there it is -in 2014 no less.
Very unusual! thanks!!
Mesmerizing! Stunningly beautiful and moving. Thank you! Inspiring!!!!
Bravo & Brava!
Chills.
I would like to see more orchestra performances incorporate choreography. It seems like it would be challenging to remember the steps amd staging while playing and instrument sometimes but these instruments are quite portable and the cello harnesses are genius
This is honestly the most amazing thing I’ve ever seen from a full orchestra. How special!!!
So Beautiful!
The Title of the piece is, Hail! Alma Mater.
Absolutely amazing! You all sounded so wonderful. I got chills, legit! Thanks for sharing this video with the world! GO TERPS !!!!
Gave me chills. Love my Alma Mater!! Thanks for sharing. Go Terps!!!
I love the guy wearing the MD socks on his shoulders!
GO TERPS!!!!!
AMAZING!
Bravi Tutti!
Brilliant UMD. Well done!
DW Griffith
A truly unique way to present this piece! I wish I could find more of this visual style. Excellent sound quality!.....Comment coming from an experienced sound engineer. (Wish I could read production liner notes...heheh.)
Art is about choices. Choices are about thoughts and feelings. And the possible. The possible is about what COULD be. ALL that could be could be ART. If we let it be.
This is the amazing feat I've seen in the Classical Music orchestral realm.
it's certainly before it's time.... the resources required are certainly immense.
Bravo!
Appalachian Spring always takes me through a range of emotions, especially as a dancer. You made the music dance as it does in my heart. I am moved beyond words. Thank you!
Bro that bass trombone part
Fascinating...I have never heard a more spirited rendition of this ultra-popular piece. The movement is perfect and gives the music a most enhanced spacial sense. Alternating between the small and large orchestra versions of the piece is brilliant. You may have heard (and seen) Appalachian Spring a thousand times, but never like this.
17:54 Variations on a Shaker Hymn
Brilliant!
BRILLIANT! Sanjosemike
OK, of COURSE it's impressive. But, I don't get it? Who is the woman at the table supposed to be? Who is the young man (dancer) who seems at odds with her? What is the concept here, and what has it to do with Appalachian Spring? I'm sorry.... I beyond a superbly executed stunt, I just don't get it. What is that woman and the couple of other non-players representing? And what's with all the gesturing to the heavens?
It says in the description that the choreography is influenced from American Folk dance and by the movement of the playing of the instruments.
Absolutely amazing!!!! Thank you for this incredible performance and for your hard work !!
Absolutely beautiful. Poignant ending. So glad these young musicians persevered with their studies and continued on to give this performance.
has anyone else seen these vids ... they do Prelude to the ... Tchaikovsky's 4th... Copeland... etc with movement.... i hope they don't try BOLERO!!!! i am trying to think how to use some of this w 5th graders to discuss Classical music and Art in general. how much more movement excites and tweaks our interest.... I was thinking Venn diagram...or put them in groups and play a piece , have them draw the moment then share their experience...sounds a bit much for the first day back i know but i need something... any ideas ANYONE....
weirdly cool!
Well.. that was spectacular.. haha. Goodness. Ambitious much?! For as many videos as I've seen of this, I've never seen it played memorized, let alone with full choreography.. did the crew take a whole semester off to achieve this? :)
Truly wonderful.
just sit down and play in tune
Wow. Beautifully evocative. The movement complemented the music (which I love) and moved me deeply.
