I think I got the wrong springs for my ES. I bought the same wheels you did and lowering springs but it's just sitting too low, by maybe 1-1.5 inches. Did you tell me earlier exactly what springs you bought for your project ?
I was 10 years old when I first saw the Volvo 1880es. It was at the 1972 car show in the Greengate Mall in Greensburg PA. I have been a huge fan ever since. I kept the brochure for years.
Too bad it's a 350. Small block Chevy's are probably the worst V8 ever made. The inly reason people liked them is because they were everywhere. Those non staggerd exhaust valves in the center of the heads are GARBAGE!!
I used a P1800ESAsAn daily driver with a power stering from a ?.. I forget the name of this Volvo typ. Twenty years later its one of my best cars. My P1800E I have since 1988 with 135000km, never drìven,... but the P1800ES was my great love. Thx for the video
C30 is the modern one you think about, could even be the mid 80:s 480. And yes, both these volvo models did that as a homage to this old original👍 Just Google volvo 480 Or volvo C30 and you'll see the resemblence about that rear window
Unfortunately something broke during driving and I spit out all the oil and burned up the B20 engine in my ES. But I came to despise the 3 speed borg warner transmission anyway, so... I am in the process of installing a B230F engine and 4 speed auto transmission from an 80s 240. I very much look forward to having my ES back on the road, in about a year I think.
@@vladmarianciuc7574 ...not yet. The b230f engine is in. I just need to modify the drive shaft, hook up a few wires, and mount the shift lever. Then I should be ok.
I can only imagine given the fact these little cars only weight about 2000 lbs you'll get to a point of diminishing returns trying to add over say 200HP, especially with a V8 and the torque they produce. It's just almost impossible to get that much power to the ground unless you tub it out and put big monster meats under it. Makes a good straight-line car I suppose. But there are better cars out there for that. That's why a high-revving 6 cylinder Porsche motor performs so well in these little cars. Low bottom-end torque that starts building strong after about 4000 rpm on up to 7000. Reminds me of the Corvair V-8 conversions that were popular back in the 70's and 80's. Yes, burn rubber all day long, but why? Still, cool car!
Obviously you’ve never ridden in one lol😂 I’ve been in 914’s that are LS7 swapped making 500hp na. Best handling car I’ve ever ridden in. You just need to know what your doing with the suspension and weight distribution of the car.
Had a friend who put a 350 Chevy in his '74. Pretty tight in there. The type4 engine is really a good machine if you know how to build them right. I have several of them.
In the 80's I was lucky enough to own a 1974 LE Bumblebee.I was in my 20's and I had so much fun with that car! I ended up going through a divorce so I sold it to keep my soon to be ex-wife from getting it.I could not stand the thought of her new boyfriend driving my baby. Not the ex-wife, the car! So I sold it. Always intended to get another 914 but somehow life got in the way. I can only imagine how much fun a V-8 version would be!
That's rough - I'm sure you've seen that the factory LE Bumblebees are highly desirable in the 914 world. I hope you're able to find another 914 and keep for a long time!
Mine is just a bit too low looking. I put the same wheels, tires, and 1 inch lowering springs on, but it just doesn't look right. I'm going to put the stock sprigs back on first. If that doesn't 'fix' the look then I'm goign to swap to different wheels.
Sounds like a Pile of Shit.. I'm sorry but that's just what I hear. Need some serious tuning done on that Engine. Definitely a different exhaust too before you'll be satisfied with the car.
Tesla 3. ❤❤❤❤
Just beautiful, and that color. Perfekt 👍
Sorry to see you sold this on BAT. Nice car!

1:11, there a glimpse of the engine.
For those looking for pics of the engine, they are here bringatrailer.com/listing/1976-porsche-914-38/
Up the street neighbor had a Coupe’. I want the Sport Coupe’. Love the wheels.
Så tragiskt så matt i lacken😂
Another butcher, please leave alone automobiles and do your butchering on American cars
we have one parked in the neighborhood. parked to death.
Another butcher of an automobile. Please keep your mods to American cars and leave the automobiles alone, you are as bad as gas donkey garage.
❤
Saw a beautiful example at cars and coffee now I kind of want one
Lovely
It's a very good car, but underpowered for the type. Volvo took their inspiration for this stye of car from the British Reliant Scimitar.

Sounds fantastic. Can't wait to get mine back on the road, I miss driving it.
Turned right over, sweet!

Volvo p1800 jason💎อยู่ใน🤝
beautiful design bad color
Kulturbanause!
Perfection! This is my dream car and your is amazing! Congratulations!
Never knew this car existed. Love the rear window…seen it on a modern Volvo. Is that the Volvo signature?

beautiful paint thanks
These little 914's really do seem to be the offspring of the 550 Spyders of the 1950's. They seem to share a lot of the ethos.
Looks like fun but probably dangerous
I really love that. I always wondered how a VA would affect the weight distribution. And was there a kit you used for the motor mounts?
It was a friend's 914. I think it was '77 or '78 , long ago. I'm sure he used some kind of "kit" because he wasn't a mechanic.
I like how you integrated the cooler/radiator into the bumper - I've not seen that approach before
Very nice.
at the sound, the clutch seems to slip, I wish that is not the case.

My 1972 2.0 outperformed my brothers “gay” little MR two spider. The type 4 motor is a marvelous piece of engineering
You're talking about the Volkswagen 4 cylinder engine? I thought it was weak and boring
I owned a 74 914, 1.8L. Loved it, and wished I'd never sold it. The lowest riding car I've ever owned. I used to look up at Miata drivers! LOL
🤷 Promo`SM!
Thats sum crazy shit!! Bet the car twists like cazy. Needs a muffler. HaHa!!
This is the most beautiful car ever made for the every day folks.
I like Studebaker President 8 rumble seat convertible from 1928-1937. It has an optional overdrive and AM radio. Whitewall tires are popular.
The wheels look like the Borbet LS on my Cross Country. Beautiful 1800!

Is this the same engine you used in the 914 Porsche???
That sounds like a 4. I doubt there is a V8 in that 914.
Might've been able to shoehorn the 928 V8 with some modifications for the space
It would be great to see the engine.
Is that Bernie Sanders???
I was thinking to myself, "when did Bernie move to WA and get into 914's? Especially a big V-8 gas burning one?"
@@r.arabian3056 Let me know if you find a better version of Bernie mated with Larry David out there.
ha. I was just going to say Bernie Sanders has a sick 914.
