    Are you still only running it a few hours? I thought it needs to be run 24x7.

    • @brianv61
      @brianv61 2 місяці тому

      It should definitely be running 24/7. The main reason bogs like this work is because a large colony of beneficial bacteria form in all the pea gravel... that's what does a vast majority of the filtering, not the plants. Without water the bacteria can't do their job and most of it will just die off.

    Aren't you afraid of mosquitoes with that standing water? I was under the impression from other videos that I've seen, that just a little bit more pea gravel would be better...? IDK You've got a nice set up there!

    Very nice work Tom, do you mean that you are not running the pump 24 hours a day? Is it really only twice a day for 1and half hours? And looking so awesome

    wait whyd you put your pipe in the water without having any holes in the first place? The pipe has to be perforated anyway to let the water out and rise.

    Hello. Can you confirm something for me which I've been getting to find out for about 1 week now? I have been doing research by watching video's like your's & looking at advice on the internet like groups on F.B. I have been informed that Pea SHINGLE should be used which IS different to Pea GRAVEL although they are listed as being the same in the shops, I understand that Pea SHINGLE is made out of Limestone where as the GRAVEL is made out of STONE! Does it matter which one I use? Thanks from the UK.

    can you please show me or tell me how you did you waterfalls? I can see how you build them, but need what you did on the inside? liner all the way to the top, then cut a hole and lay the rubber across the fall wood?

    New to ponds & just heard about Bog Filters. Have I got this right ? Water pumped from pond to area with Pea shingle with pipes underneath flowing to a different area with plants then back to pond? What plants? Thanks.

    So..am I correct that the hole in the plumbing actually works as a check valve? Is that correct? If so, that is a way cool idea!

    Rather than put holes in the top to let air out I would have put in the water and disconnected the tube of water. At that time you should be able to lift up the manifold and remove the air. But still a very good video. Thanks :)

    Nice bog filter.. Thanks for the info. I really enjoy looking at other peoples ponds and fish. I have 4 koi ponds and a fish room with multiple tanks. My ponds are surrounded by decking and trees. If you would like to view them that's great. If not that's ok too. Thanks again for sharing and take care.
