If you'd like to know what I do when I'm not teaching Pilates, this is my other life, installing, maintaining and restoring sculpture for artists, museums, corporations and the Cultural Heritage Office of the US State Dept. Here you see a recent 1-week installation (in 1.5 minutes!) of a Michael Singer sculpture at the Williams College Museum of Art. For more about my other life go to www.ArtsM...

So beautiful ❤
Beautiful work. I do prefer the more primitive rugs which are done with wider cuts for myself.
Where you buy this hook?
I'm really fascinated to learn about this beautiful artistic craft. Its a privilege to peak into this incredible knowledge..thankyou so much for getting this wonderful work on record.
Watching your beautiful work on rugs what amazing work thanks
Great job very well done thanks 🙏
What size needle and name where to purchase?
Hi Angela! Sorry for the delay - we've been away during the holidays. I'll talk to my mother today and get right back to you. Happy New Year!
That's more like it

Great stories , but poor quality sound. Hard to listen to.
Hi I love your work. Please tell me how can I get the kit Thank you.
Bob I love these interviews with your mom. I am familiar with the rugs that she did in rug hooking magazine. They are wonderful especially the one with turkeys and pheasants. Did she say she wrote a book? If so, is it still available? I would be very interested in it . Many thanks for the videos. Your mom's work is beyond belief!
I wished I could see what happens with the wool UNDER THE BURLAP. I want to see the loop, or fiber on the other side of the fabric, to see how it gets hooked, how this is done and the fiber doesn't come out just by itself. You need to be more clear and precise on how this is done. But you don't, as you don't show how it is mounted and one what, if you have a frame or something. to work :( it is very frustrating.
I don't think there is any issue reselling the one copy of the pattern you own (see the first sale doctrine), but you definitely could not produce copies and sell them, or allow others to copy the pattern you own. I applaud your moral judgment on this - so many people disregard copyright issues.
Bob, you Mom is very accomplished. I would like to suggest you take videos of her just hooking. The fine shading is beautiful and not everyone can get to workshops regularly. In cross stitch, needle painting and coloring, the artists tell us what colors they are using then let the video run so we can see exactly how the shades are worked into each other. Example, the green left Peggy is working on. She said shades 8-5. Does she begin with 4-1 on the adjoining leaf? If so, how do they blend together? Let us watch one element for about 30 minutes. Please continue with the videos. Peggy’s expertise should not be lost. I know many of us would be grateful to document her process. Thanks again. 🙂
I absolutely love all 4 of your videos/interviews with your mother! I can greatly relate to her history and interest in hooking. I am a teacher as she was, I have memories of going to the local fabric store as a teen to gather "remnant pieces" of wool from the wool mills for her rug braiding, just as your mother did for hooking! I joined a local ATHA Rug Hooking guild about two years ago, and find all the members so very kind and helpful. They know so much!!! I live 15 minutes away from Fort Washington which your mother mentioned in her video! I was wondering if she could share with me the names of her green colors in her rug and which dye company was used (Cushings, Pro Chemical, etc?) Obviously there are values of each color she used, but it seems like she may have used colors with their own values for the different plants. I hope she is able to answer that for me. My upcoming project and my first attempt with cuts 3 and 4 is a garden flower/butterfly theme, and I just love the greens she used, and would like to repeat them! Honestly, I hope I get to meet her in person at an upcoming Hook-In in PA or perhaps a class if she is still teaching! Thank you so much for these special and insightful videos!
Hi Catherine, Sorry for the delayed response. Mom asked me to send you this reply, "Go to my website Home page and then Articles. Click on Article 10 and there is an article about Geranium Oval in the McGown Newsletter. I give all of the formulas at the end. I used Cushing dyes and Dorr wools which can be ordered through Dorr Mills. The key to the deep colors is dyeing over colored wool. Contact me through my email: phannum2@comcast.net if you have any questions or by phone: 717-984-2736. I'd be glad to talk to you - we are almost neighbors!" Mom's website is www.peggyhannum.com. Hope this is helpful, Bob
Very interesting!
Where do you get your large rug hook patterns? A large enough rug to cover a foyer floor? Or the ones you place in front of a sink?
Could you do a video to explain what the red markings are on your pattern? Is that where you plan to do shading?
I want to meet her. She is an artisan!
I love listening to your stories. I will be calling a Uhaul too! :)
I'm so glad to see a left handed hooker doing a video. Thanks so much.
same
Just wondering; what kind of frame do you use? Is it a gripper frame? I'm a little skeptical of these and wonder if you have a problem with fraying.
This is beautiful. I’m wondering if this can be done with 100% wool yarn? Also, I love the magnet holding your scissors. Did you make it or can I buy one somewhere?
Great tips!
This is great! Would love to see more Hooking videos ❤️
Brilliant ! Lovely to listen to and learn from all your videos. Thank you.
These are so wonderful, I just watched all of them in a row. I do hope you are able to do more!
Loved this one too. Great sweater!
It would be also very helpful if you'd be able to put a list or link to her recommended supplies, like the favorite products she is using, like the brand and type of bevelled scissors and her favorite pencil type hook etc. I'll go look at her website and see if the info is there too.
Ps, just heard Peggy say the thing about the advantage of narrow cuts of wool. I may have had to discover that the wide cuts are painful on my own, and so I'm very grateful to have that hint from the get go!
I don't rug hook as yet. I knit, but my hands are getting a bit less fond of the movements. I'm not sure if rug hooking will be better or not, but regardless, I really enjoyed this video you made!
So glad I found you.... More, more!! Bravo!
I used to cut strips for the grandmothers and great aunts for their rugs in CT. There was always a big frame in the livingroom, and they did let me hook some...but we moved away before I could really learn. This week I decided to learn and found your videos...Thank you so much! Now I am totally inspired to get started!!
I would love to spend the day hooking with you. I'm learning so much!
Hi Karen. Happy new year! I will pass all your comments along to my mom. She will be so pleased. I put her videos on my channel for convenience but soon I will create a channel just for her.
Karen, just wanted to add that I hope you connect with my mom. I’m biased of course but I also have an eye for beauty and her rugs are just masterful - I’ve never seen such shading or color in a hooked rug. Check out my favorite, “Istanbul” on her website.
Wow, a $5 pattern!
Yes, my cats love the smell of the wool.
I could listen to your stories all day! Such fun! Karen
I have learned so much from this video. I am brand new to hooking and an still on my very first project. Your work is exquisite and I have decided that I am a fan! Keep those vids coming! Karen
Can you give a short video on "shoulder opening" moves? I think that is what they are called.
+Lori Cockley Hi Lori - thanks for connecting! Yes I will do this - great idea! Give me a week to clear a few other reader suggestions!
You're awesome Bob Hannum
