Harley Davidson adventures, travel, discoveries and more.
WE MADE IT from Wales to Fethiye on a Sportster
We are excited and in disbelief that we are on the last leg of our journey from Chepstow, Wales to Fethiye, Turkey. After 15 days and 2000 miles riding we are reaching Fethiye in this video. Join us as we journey to the South of Turkey to our lovely neighborhood in Fethiye.
Its not all straightforward, navigation becomes an issue especially finding our way through Izmir in the dark!
This video has tension at the border crossing and happy vibes as our Sportster Iron 883 ploughs along the countryside towards our final destination.
It is with relief and happiness that we end this part of our Sportster adventure...only to get ready for the next:

In this exciting video we show you how perfect riding in Chios is. No other vehicles are on the road and it feels very special. The Sportster is rumbling around the country roads as if it was just made for this ride! Its a bitter sweet video as we say goodbye to this special island but we also get to break ground by reaching Turkey. The ferry ride from Chios to Çesme ıs short but fraught! First...
Chios, Sportster ride around the island Day 13 of UK to Turkey ride
Переглядів 16914 днів тому
We have made it to Chios. Our initial thoughts are that this island has a special feeling of times gone by, traditions and superstitions. The village where we have booked accommodation is deserted... Tiredness is overwhelming us and when we have found our host and he shows us our 'room' which turns out to be a tiny cottage we fall asleep. When we awake we are ready for some food and eat at a lo...
Athens and getting to Chios by ferry, the Sportster gets a wash and a quick repair on the belt guard

On our 12th and thirteenth day on the road we make a special effort to get up and see the Acropolis and Parthenon in Athens . Its a 5am start but we still don't see the ancient site as its Good Friday and it's not opening until 12 noon which is far too late in the day for us as we have to be out of our hotel and be ready to go to Patraius port for our ferry! Before this we take the Sportster fo...
Patras to Athens and the Sportster has more issues!!!

We are so excited to be in Greece. It feels reminiscent of Turkey and we realize that there's not far to go now! The road is along coast line so the view is glorious along the way. We have a short detour when google takes us up into the mountains for petrol! We don't mind, we love mountain roads! Disaster strikes again when the brakes have a critical failure and we nearly back end a camper van!...
22 hours on a ferry Ancona Italy to Patras,Greece

We are travelling between countries in this video. We catch a twenty two hour ferry to Greece, docking in the port of Patras. The journey is long but we get comfy on board. People camp out on this ferry and I even saw tents up on the open deck. Some travelers are super organised and have brought blow up beds! I enjoy looking around the ferry, Simon is trying his best to get insurance for when w...

In this video we are taking a day for chores and to make the most of sightseeing in San Marino. We love it here! Then on Day 9 of the trip we head off to Ancona, we have a ferry booked and need to get there on time. We also celebrate two successes, getting our edit in the MCN ( Motorcycle News) and the same day reaching 500 subscribers on our channel. We also discuss the ride so far and how our...
Lake Garda to San Marino, Italy Wales to Turkey on a Sportster day 7

We are leaving Lake Garda for the Republic of San Morino! The weather is milder and we are still loving being on the road after seven days! This journey is eventful with wrong turns, a chance meeting with an Italian motorbike ride out and a worrying search for fuel! We are helped along the way by some kindly Italian motorists who help us get to a petrol station just as our fuel light comes on (...

The weather is closing in on us but we are ever hopeful and optimistic... we don't even noticed we got rained on!!! Its a shorter ride that takes us 4/5 hours and the landscapes are amazing as always. Our plan to stick to smaller roads is giving us the experience we wanted. Lake G...

How exciting! 🤩 I can't believe how blue the sea in Turkey is. The scenery looks gorgeous! 😍
It's is so beautiful. Takes our breath away even after all the time we spend here🇹🇷. Thanks for watching Sue, we appreciate it. 😃🌞👍🏍
Really enjoyed following your journey, well done from a fellow 883 rider 👍🏻
Thank you so much for watching. We are glad you enjoyed the journey. We love our Sportster, its a great Harley 👍 👌 😀
Here we go again...., these two selfish buggers serving up all this sun and warmth in Winter, to someone like me, sitting here in cold. dark and grey, snow covered Switzerland, missing the sun and bikeing weather so much. Oh well, 'spose there is no justice for those of us who choose to watch this sort of video in Winter and feel so sorry for themselves for doing so. But, seriously though, what a journey/adventure that was, and what a lesson for all those who think they can't do the same, coz they need a "big" bike for such a journey. Congrats for reaching your destination and sharing the whole adventure with us. Look forward now to seeing more of the country that has always interested me, but never had any great pull on me to go visit it. Thx.4 all so far.
Thank you for your lovely comment. And I hope we continue to bring you sunshine 🌞 on our travels around Turkey 🇹🇷. We always love your comments, keep them coming! 😃👍🏍
You are so lovely…. I envy you. I hope one day I follow your way to London
Thank you so much for watching the video. 👍😃🏍
Sea ie a jewel opal
Yes ap beautiful sight, breathtaking. Thank you for watching 👍 😀
Wow stunning place warmer than here lol
It's a lovely island, a great place to chill and recharge. 👍😀
Born to Roam from Tommy Welton. What a fantastic song and a super choice to start the video with👍. A very upbeat and holiday inspiring track, with a text very descriptive of me and obviously you two as well. Fantastic, luv it! After two days of non-stop snow and grey skies here, watching all this blue sunny sky and the wonderful colour of the sea, it has been rather difficult, if not painful to watch..... you're giving me, either itchy feet to get up and go, which funds don't permit this year, or the wish to go into hibernation for the next 4 months!! It seems the older I get, the less I like winter and this sort of video, certainly drums that home to me😒. Thanks for uploading this beautiful video..., and of course, i'll forgive you for any discomfort you may have caused me while I found myself "having" to watch it😉. Happy times, stay healthy, greets from cold and snowy Switzerland, Steve.
Thank you so much for watching, you know how much we appreciate your views and amazing comments. We are sorry you cannot get out there and scratch those itchy feet! Maybe the future holds some travel for you. We can imagine Switzerland is looking beautiful in the snow ❄️ . Take care and jeep watching,we have lots of new videos to come from Turkey 🇹🇷 😀
@@IggsnMorts Oh dear, yet more "agonising" watching to be done😂!?
Brilliant as always 👌 Hope your both OK
Thanks for watching Derek. We are great thanks, hope you are too👍😀
The colour of the sea is amazing and Chios looks so peaceful and beautiful
Yes we loved it there. A proper recharge for the batteries 😀👍💕
What a fabulous video series this has been, looking forward to the final push to Turkey and the lovely Fetiyhe
Thank you, we are so glad you 're enjoying it. We nearly there! Turkey is just a hop skip and jump away😀 It makes all the hours editing worthwhile when we hear comments like yours, we appreciate it so much. Thank you. 👍
Looks lovely and green around those lakes, beautiful 🤩
It was very picturesque and very busy, lots of tourists in this area. Its a huge lake and we only saw a small fraction of it. The area is beautiful 😍. Thank you fir watching and commenting 😀 💕
What an amazing adventure, and wow that snowy landscape looks amazing, well done guys that’s hardcore adventuring on the little sportster
Thank you for watching. Yes it is a challenge on a Sporty but well worth it. We loved every minute 😀👍our adventure continues to Turkey and adventures within Turkey and back to the UK to come too! 😀
@ gradually working my way through the videos, they are really great, I did a 4500 mile trip through Portugal , Spain and France last year on my little Royal Enfield 411 Himalayan, and as a big fan of Fetiyie and Ovacik where we have holidayed many times, I’m hoping to follow in your footsteps and ride down to Turkey maybe next year, it looks epic
We would recommend the trip. We would definitely do it again👍thank you so much for watching, We appreciate your support for our channel. Hope you enjoy the rest of the journey. P👍😀
Awesome! Some amazing places there xxx
There certainly is Scott. It's an amazing unspoilt place full of tradition and wild scenery. 😀👍thank you for watching 👍
Like going back in time to the days of the Knight of old howvyoubdoing my cracked rib are getting better
Yes, it's very much like that. It's unspoilt. Glad to hear you're on the mend Carl. We didn't know you had cracked ribs. We are doing well thanks 😊
"You and Me" from Eldar Kedem... beautiful song with wonderful lyrics. It captures and enhances that incredible landscape so well... Thx. Oh how I wish winter was finished, but it's hardly started yet 😢!
Yes, winters are long. We are lucky to be back in Turkey again for the most of the winter and very grateful for that. ☀️😁
Very good video..., Chios looks a lovely place, as does the food. Good to have you back, looking forward to the rest of the series now....
Many thanks! So glad you enjoyed it, more to come soon. 👍😀
Oh look, who have we here...😮! Haven't seen you two for 2 or 3 months.... welcome back. Hope all is well. Is this a new tour or, a continuation of where you were last summer? Now let's stop scribbling here and go watch what we have been served, and where we are....
Haha,it's good to be back. It's a continuation of our summer riding. We have been busy working and time was short so editing took a back seat. Hope you enjoy. 👍😀
amazing ! 🥰🥰
Thank you for watching. We are glad you liked it. : )
Great vlog, what a fab' place to ride & sunshine too, stay safe guys, looking forward to more 👌 (Harley-Dan) 😎

We appreciate your comment. Thank you for watching👍😃
Fantastic trip! Great music too. Makes me want to head off tomorrow's 😊 i couldn't see a phone for navigation? How did you find your way ?
Simon has voice navigation through his headphones , however it's not ideal and he is considering a mount for his phone in the future! 😁
Simon and Emma you certainly enjoy life Good on you
We are loving our journeys and feel very fortunate😀👍
How many time have I been caught out with National holidays while travelling? It is now an integral part of my tour prep as to when these days occur in the countries I vist, so that I can plan my days accordingly. Once again, I love your choice of music for your vids..., I know that is quite time consuming when editing. Thanks for a brilliant 12th and 13th day catch up. Busy right now at getting packed and sorted for my nevt adventure in the northern counties of UK, as of the 5th for roughly 2 - 3 weeks. First, it'll be a 3 day bimble across N France to Dunkerque, then a few days at my brothers in Sussex, before heading north, with a 2 day stop at my sisters in Shrops.
We wish you all the best with your adventures. Hope the weather holds out for you and you have an amazing time. Again thankyou for watching and taking the time to comment. We really appreciate it. 👍😁
@@IggsnMorts Thanks. Yep.., i've had everything possible crossed for the last ten days that the weather is kind to me.
Beautiful place what a journey once in a life time trip
It's very special.
Nice to see and know that the "Corinth Canal" is open again 😀
It's only just reopened again. It's a marvellous sight and crazy to think that they engineered it so long ago. 👍
Greece is great been to Rhodes lovely jounney
Rhodes is very close to where we live in Fethiye, a short 2 hour ferry ⛴️ from the marina here👍Greece is a lot like Turkey in many ways. 😀
@@IggsnMorts you have to go there it lovely it full of cat everywhere
We are planning to go there, maybe when we come back next time. Out of season when it's quiet!😁
Wonderful coastline ride in a beautiful part of the country. Please let the "Relive" run a little slower, it's interesting to see your route but difficult to absorb at that speed. Lucky that the brake problem was not a big, nor tragic one. You're both looking happy despite the many kms straddled on your Iron Horse. Thx 4 update 👍.
Thank you for your comments, they are always appreciated. Also, taking aboard your advice we will run the relive slower 😀 , however next Fridays video may slip through the net as we have already edited it( sorry) . We were very lucky with the brakes, it must have been grit stuck in there somewhere and it broke itself loose.
I was going to say the same thing. Perhaps if you can hold the last frame of the map so we can take in the route?
@@anilmaxkarande-zn2hf good suggestion will do this for the next edit😉
Born to be wild huh!
Most definitely born to ride, we both enjoy days on the Sportster, it's better than therapy! 😁😃👍
Absolutely better than therapy life is what we make it Keep on ridin Simon and Emma
We will,we are loving it. In Albania now and we are so impressed how lovely it is here. Would recommend it to any biker for a destination👍😁
alternative transport!
Yes, we hire a scooter sometimes. It's lots of fun! 😁
The more I see of your journey the more fascinated I become captivating guys!
We love riding in Turkey and we have rescued more than one tortoise from the road. Unfortunately, we have seen some injured and killed on roads too. 😕
You have done a fine job editing and enhancing the videos with some appropriate and pleasent background tunes Neat
Thank you so much. It takes a long time to edit and having nice comments like yours is very encouraging. 👍😀thank you. 💕
A fine example of the spirit of adventure bravo Simon and Emm Great stuff
Thank you, this event was one of our favourites. A lot of fun to ride and edit.👍😁
We met once again at fethiyesmile today Simon I enjoyed our conversation re the journey iron 883 etc fascinating Neil
Thank you, it was lovely to talk to you. Hope you enjoy the videos👍😀
Hi both, it's Simon off the Go Pro 12 comments page. Dare I show this vid to the missus, she will drag me to Lake Como ASAP lol. Great vid to watch.
Thank you fir subscribing and commenting, you should take your wife to Como, it's beautiful 😁👍
San Marino looks well worth a visit. Congrats on the 500 subs 🎉. And it was great to see your trip in MCN!
Yes, we were so glad we stayed there. It would have been very easy to go straight to Ancona. Thank you Scotty! 😁👍
Brilliant!
Thank you Scotty😁
Look like lovely voyage wish I was there
It was a long voyage but it didn't seem like it. We did nt get much sleep, just a nap really but the wonderful experience is keeping us going! 😄👍
Oh look, it's time for the next instalment of the Iggs'n'Morts Turkish saga🙂, last time you asked what route I would take well, I don't like being on a ferry too long so always look for the shortest routes... Bari to Durres ALB is 8 1/2 hrs., that would have now been my choice. However, I dont know how that suits your journey for your destination. All I can say is, Albania has fantastic countryside with extremely open and friendly people as btw does N. Macedonia. And yet another good Video, thanks, i'm enjoying this, and if truth be told, i'm a little jealous of you doing it and not me!! Simon'sTip: when the bike batterie is weak, turn off all lights and any other electrics, and make sure the bike is in neutral, get the young lady to cross her fingers, toes and eyes, as you both hope for a miracle when pushing that start button. Emma'sTip: it's a pity you don't use an external mic when outside, as you have a soft, (but sweet) voice, it might make a better watching and listening experience, and save you time and bother of writing text..., that sometimes disappears from the screen before i've read it all. Sorry, not slagging anybody here, just suggesting!! And i've now just realised, i've gotta wait another week for Patras and Athens😞. Yeah, having binge watched so much here lately at my speed, waiting a week now is lonnngg, but patience has it's....whatevers!? See ya next week.
😃thank you for watching and for the amazing tips! I am trying out an external mic, a Dji mic2 which should be as good as it gets but I'm still learning and experimenting 😄I think I will try attaching a Lavilier mic and putting it on my helmet strap. Sometimes the wind sound takes away my voice, even though I have a dead cat on the mic😄 Simon is grateful for the tip too. It was scary when we thought the bike wasn't going to start!!
@@IggsnMorts.... now you're getting all techy with me, no idea what mic is what...! I'm only here for the (virtual) ride!! What caught me, and kept me here is your natural, everyday sort of character of you both, that comes over well in your videos. Have a good week. S
Thank you 🙏😊
Wow! Surprised they didn't strap the bike down. Not like the ferry to Ireland! Breakfast of champions! Lol xx was that a swimming pool on there too? Ride safe ! Stay on the grey and enjoy the ride! Xxx
😄thank you. I think that was a pool but out of service. The ferry was very smart! 😃We enjoyed it. It was quite noisy though as in engine noise. I think the bike problems were probs caused by the bike movement during the crossing, perhaps if it was secured it would have been OK? Who knows😉
So, i've caught you up now, and am also in Ancona with my binge watching, and have another question: just wondering why you boarded the ferry here, instead of driving down the coastal route and taking the ferry from Bari...., there must be a method in your madness somewhere there?
I forgot to say in my last answer that we left Wales on the 22nd of April and rode fir 15 days to get to Fethiye in Turkey. We went from Ancona because we didn't realise there was another ferry port option in Bari😂its as simple as that😁 Thanks again for watching and for commenting. 👍
@@IggsnMorts there you go... should have asked me...😉! I went to Greece thru the balkan countries but back up via Bari. Aha, in Spring yeah, snow was late this year, we had no proper Spring in Switz.
@millinutz Ahh, cool. Which route did you prefere? What do you ride? 😃
Do you ride the custom Suzuki ?
@@IggsnMortsI have 2 bikes. Suzuki VL 1500 LC and a Harley 1340 Wide Glide which I hardly ride any more, and is actually up 4Sale.
Some time ago when I found you, by way of recommendation, I threatend to binge watch your channel, but life got in the way, as it does..., but now thanks to a spout of really crap weather, i've gotten to watch a few of the earlier videos first, and after, have followed this series, from Chepstow to San Marino so far.... and i'm loving it. Oh, and i'm falling in love with your accent, love to hear a Welsh lass speaking! A couple questions: When did this all take place, and what form of Navigation is the Pilot using? My tip when travelling with a small tank, always fill up evenings in the town where you make your stopover, and then go find the Hotel, well that's how i've always done it. Must save the next episode for tomorrow, just seen the time, it's knocking 2 am..., so good night!
That's so amazing, we appreciate your views so much, thank you👍😃 We just use Google maps for navigation with instructions through Iggsy's headphones 🎧 Thank you for the petrol tip👍our Sporty only has 100 miles in the tank so we need to fill up frequently as you can imagine! Keep watching and commenting we love to be able to interact with people watching😃👍
✌️✌️🫶🙏🙏
Thank you for watching 😁 👍
