Won the Derby and almost won at Pimlico, too. Although there's absolutely NO shame in finishing second to RACHEL ALEXANDRA. That girl was a BEAST!

Chantal was supposed to ride him but she couldn't get to Churchill the week before to breeze him. Borel breezed him and got the ride.
Chantel is good for a girl she was in the jocks room at woodbine watching with the great emma jane and lost her mine it would not have been Chantel bo rail this was destiny

Rachel was sold after the "Oaks". She went on to win the "Preakness" with Calvin (Mine that Bird ran 2nd) and be named "Horse of the Year"!!

I don't know who called the race (I assume it is his regular job), but he is just lousy at it. He didn't even see Mine That Bird making his move down the stretch or even taking the lead because he was too busy announcing who was running in 19th place. Watching that horse weave through heavy traffic then hug the rail before breaking out and waving bye-bye was the most exciting part of the race and he called only the last 60 yards of it. Pitiful performance unworthy of such a great race.

I laugh every time I watch this race. So totally crazy, and so wonderful--a day when the little guy gives the elites a reminder of what racing is really about: JOY!

I was a little kid when this was on and don't remember how much I put on them, but I had Empire Rose and Natski. I just remember jumping up and down with my older brother as I won some money so I could buy some toys or lollies haha. But watching this back now, it shows how unlucky Natski was, as he got checked and it stopped his run in the straight.
I was young too. Remember being upset when the big mare got beat the year before. But this time me, my uncle and grandfather got the trifecta. Na Botto was a good stayer, we knew he'd run a place
I loved Rosie to bits but that was a huge run by Natski.

@@racingflashbacks agree. He was hindered in the straight and lost his momentum long enough that I'd say it cost him the race. But good luck to 'Rosie' she was a great race mare.
