I know this answer comes late but I hope it would rather become a show than a film, so that they don't have to rush. But it seems the universe is still to unknown :(

@JJ W Wow, it's been almost 10 years since I commented on this video, lol Actually, with the direction films have gone, a show could work for the series. The only issue is how they would release the episodes. Like the first episode establishes Arthur as a character in school, and the ending of the episode would be a cliffhanger on how he's about to die of asthma on the track field and Mister Monday shows up in his wheelchair with the Minute and Hour keys. That would probably be the best setup.

@@MrTaikobo I think so too! That way it would be possible to make a season for every book. The only question would be, how long the episodes would become. I think 30 minutes for every episode would be good. It wouldn't be too long and not be to short. I think also it would be nice if the first episode is the introduction. The second episode would then be the conflict between Arthur and Noon, which could end with a cliff hanger where Arthur is just seconds from dying before Noon disapears because his time did run up. The third episode could be about his first step into the House where he meets Suzy and The Will. And the rest, well, would be his adventure inside the House. I wonder if the content of the first book would be enough for at least 10 episodes. Anyway, it would be really cool to see the House as a whole place because we have just vague describtion but not a real good picture. Sigh, it would be so cool.

@JJ W I think the duration of each episode could stick to the 30-minute mark since the books themselves aren't very long. If you sit down to read it, it probably is about a few hours tops. The episodic ideas on what they tackle, such as meeting Suzie and the inner world of The House, might be a difficult task since The House is so large on the inside. It could be like this abandoned mansion on the outside, but inside would be this Victorian era industrialized place. I think probably once Arthur gets the Minute key and is driven to the House, then we transition to the inside with Suzie, which could be a fun cliffhanger. Like, "Oh, who's she? Where are we? What happened to Arthur?" It keeps the story engaging. The only thing I'm scared of is the writing team butchering the source material. Example: Artemis Fowl

@@MrTaikobo Yeah, that would be a shame. Though, I still a 1:1 adaption could work since it is very strong focused on Arthur and just follows his actions. I even think, butchering and too much changing scenes wouldn't work without to deform the whole story. And it would also be unnecessary because we have not too many detailed scenes like in "Harry Potter" where classes are described in the books and informations are shown which are interesting but not really relevant for the story. In "The Keys to the Kingdom" however, such things don't really exist. There is the first meeting with Suzy where they discuss about The Will and Mister Monday which shouldn't be a problem. Then there is the scene where they flee from a room where Mister Monday let a dinosaur from another dimension enter in, so that it would chase Arthur. So in short, they are all relevant and I don't think the writer team should have too much problems with these these scenes. So I think, it could work. However, in the end it is all a question of effort and motivation and I hope, if they make a show, they take their and have enough motivation to do it properly. I wonder which age rating it would get in the end, though. I mean, he bleeds already a lot there and gets stabbed by the hour key. And every book gets darker and darker. And from the fourth book on, there is too much death. Not to forget the dead Denizens who get murdered by someone. Edit: I think a butchering would be on the other hand also unlikely, because Garth Nix said himself that he wants to avoid such a thing.
