I love the pink candle for Joy Sunday. Love mixing the much loved Christmas hymns mixed with modern worship songs. Pastor Travis, I love your story of you big yes and ending up in Montana. Pastor Carrie and I had a fun discussion about what it must have been like to be Mary and have an angel appear in front of you and more fun discussion and questions and discoveries. Thank you for helping me to understand what salvation is. First Lutheran has such caring, kind believers in Christ that love to help as many people as possible during their lives. Pastor Travis thank you for reminding us about the times we have said Yes and why we decided too. Beautiful faith music ended a beautiful service where the Holy Spirit was present. Very uplifting service.

Thank you Pastor Norton, choir, and relatives/friends who all braved the snowstorm to celebrate the life of my mother. Thank you also to all the church staff who shoveled the snow at the church endlessly to keep us safe- we saw you out there working hard!

Amen🙏 Sometimes the old lady with only two cents, the invisible, is right in front of us and with all our obligations and busy lives, we don't realize it, even if they are under our own roof. Sometimes, those people are quiet or their own pride keeps them from being noticed, and sometimes they are just putting their faith in God, because we just know that he will take care of us. We need to try and notice even those that are right in front of us. 🙏 This was something that I personally went through, but I just knew that God would provide. We never starved, but there were times that I thought we would. We have a 135+ year old house with lots of issues. We were without a vehicle here and there, things were always testing our faith, but we just knuckled down and prayed harder. Until just recently, God answered our prayers and blessed us. I never wanted to complain, I never wanted to ask, but it got to the point where we had to, and God delivered us with blessing that I couldn't ever imagine and I am so truly grateful! Thank you Dear Lord for answering my prayers, I pray that I may be able to help those in need. Please point them out to us, even those that we wouldn't realize that need it. In Jesus's Name, Amen. 🙏

I miss that sound of hush or whoosh I hear and feel in the holy sanctuary when I come in for Communion with Pastor Travis. The Church is our home for coming together as one. Thank you Pastor Travis, I just fed my birds and as the Blue Jays flew in sounding the alarm for food I realized no election will stop nature from doing its thing. God’s creatures help me to be reminded he is in charge of this planet, not a single person. Feed the birds and listen to their joy for their seed.

I'm not upset by any outcome. I am so grateful to God for all that he has blessed me and my family with. What we all need to remember, God is in the drivers seat and we are just the passengers. What is to be, is what is to be. God Bless Everyone and keep the faith, always. 🙏🙏🙏

Thank you so very much Pastor Norton. You can not believe how much God is talking to me right now and blessing me. The sermon that you did this weekend, was the exact same one we watched on The Chosen on Saturday and there have been other things happening for awhile that I feel God is trying to communicate with me. I just got my VA Disability approved today and I just knew it was coming, do to the Communications of God, through your sermon and other things that have been speaking to me. Praise be to God.🙏 And also, a big thank you for guiding me. I wasn't sure if you would be that right person for me, because I was raised and baptised right there in the First Lutheran Church by Pastor Peel, I not only looked up to him as our Pastor, but also a Father. I was also an Alter Boy for a while there. I'm still trying to figure out how I feel about the changes, but I am sure it will grow on me. I left there when I joined the Navy. I get back home once in a while, but this time it has been over 17 years. When I am home, I always see a service there. Maybe we will meet up then. I would love to call you and ask some questions if you wouldn't mind sometime. I am working on trying to do better in my life and try to be a better servant to God and everyone else, but I have a ways to go. Here is the rest of the sermon Some of you enjoy prayer walks spending time in prayer while you walk or hike My habit lately is to make myself coffee in the morning and then sit at my dining room table to read a devotion book that includes scripture and prayer and excerpts from Christian authors But even then I can find myself just going through the motions and I have to snap out of it and get intentional I find I need to do something with my body something physical to train my heart and soul to pay attention I’ll put my hand out on the table and imagine holding God’s hand and then I’ll talk directly to God sharing my concerns, lifting up others It doesn’t take long maybe 10 minutes but God meets me there in that time Drawing near to God doesn’t look the same for everyone just like each of us spends quality time with our loved ones differently If you don’t currently have a practice let me challenge you today to develop one Try different things out reach out to Lori Duncan our Minister of Spiritual Care or one of the pastors or a Chrsitian you admire Ask for wisdom ask them what they do to draw near to God God has gifts for you He wants you to have peace in your soul he wants you to have a life that mirrors the life of Jesus He wants to free you from bitterness and envy and that constant feeling of emptiness that comes from selfish ambition James invites us to submit our lives to God draw near and ask and receive these gifts from a good and loving God Let’s do it right now as we continue to worship As we sing sing to God with full voice and heart As we pray share yourself with God As we receive this meal open your hands and meditate on the gift of Jesus life poured out for you on the cross Draw near to God today and he will draw near to you He will give you wisdom from above and all the gifts of His friendship Reach out and find he is right here with you now just as he has always been Thanks be to God
