Приєднався 28 гру 2018
I am Jörgen Magnusson a blind chess player from Sweden. 1985-1988 I was four times Junior World Champion for visually impaired chess players. In 1993 I was rated number among seniors. I have won the Swedish Team Championship for everyone with three different clubs. Although I changed to a scholarly career as historian of religions, I never gave up chess coaching. As I now am the president of Braille Chess Association, I taken the challenge to produce accessible chess instruction, no matter whether or not you see. Thanks to a new software, developed by my friend and blind chess student Tage Johansson, I can publish accessible chess instruction that I also hope will be interesting for all. I present the material in a slightly different way as blind players cannot watch the digital chess board, but my aim is to make the material interesting for everyone. You are most welcome to join me on the journey through chess history, from the classics to the current day.
Thomsson-Magnusson was a game I wanted to brag about, but wow, analyzing gave me many new insights.
Thomsson-Magnusson was a game I thought I played pretty well. But preparing for this video, I understood that I had to deepen my understanding considerably. I learnd a lot and I hope you can learn from the game as well.

Byrne-Fischer is a historical game from the US-Championship of 1963. We deepen the understandng of piece coordination related to material gained in the game Botvinnik-Capablanca. We also learn about how to play for a win as black against an opponent who plays as safe as possible. For moves and timestamps, see below. Enjoy! We continue following the IBCA World Championship from 1986. In my game against Dimitrov, we have another example of the Botvinnik setup against King's Indian setups. this time, however, black plays e5 instead of c5 that gives white additional attacking prospects. In round five of the IBCA World Championship in 1986, I played against the strong Norwegian player Svein Tore Fesche. Some kind coaches told me that my play as black was of the highest quality of the entire tournament. I am not sure about that, but we can learn a lot about central control and how to use advanced central pawns. For moves and timestamps, see below. Enjoy! [Event "IBCA Wch blind 0...

We are back to the IBCA World Championship in Moscow 1986. In round one I faced the strong and very sympathetic Soviet Champion Vladimir Berlinsky. I used the Botvinnik setup against the King's Indian, a line that I can recommend for those who don't like to study that much theory. The game also shows some of my weaknesses as young player. Jansa-Winsnes shows how difficult it can be to play the dragon against the "non-critical" lines! :)

In our series with ideas for white in the open Sicilian, we now discuss the dragon. In the 1980s I was deeply impressed by players like Vlastimil Jansa who often defeated strong opponents using seemingly harmless lines. We will see an example from 1988, but I am happy to say that when I let Stockfish and LeelaZero play the same line, white has a plus. For moves and timestamps, see below. Enjoy!...

In our series about the open Sicilian from white's perspective, I have the joy to discuss a fantastic game that I let Stockfish 17 and LeelaZero 31.1 play out in my very powerful computer and with long time control. Not only do we learn a bit of theory, but most of all we learn a lot about long-term compensation for material. I hope you will enjoy this long video. I could have done it shorter, ...

Leningrad Dutch, a gold mine of dynamics displayed in RositsanMagnusson

The one who wants to play for a win with black, and learn a lot about dynamics that quickly change the pawn structure I recommend the Leningrad Dutch. In my game against Boris Rositsan from 2017, I diviated from the fashionable lines of today, and if white had played twenty precise moves, he woulld have obtained an advantage. But instead, seemingly without white having committed any error, blac...

hi. Could I ask how do you use chessbase as a blind? Somebody told me it is not accessible at the present time, is it true?
Hi! Chessbase has been bluntly unwilling to cooperate regarding accessibility. Chessbase 7 and 8 I was able to use, but after that I have not managed. that being said, I play to be the latest version to try things out. I use Fritz 16 to search through Megabase. I will also figure out how it goes with the latest version of Fritz. I added a lot of shortcuts to Fritz and it improved. For my analyzese, I previously used LeelaZero and Stockfish under Fritz, but nowadays I use Chess-cli that Tage Johansson develops. It is with this software i record the videos as well. We are still working on it, but we have done pretty much.
Oh, that is a really good game. Thank you Sensei Jörgen. Do you have a match with Turkish player Rasim Nizam from Bulgaria? İf you have a game with him, could you please share also that game with us.
Hi! I think I layed Nisam in the IBCA olympiade 2012. I will have a look at it. I played a turkish player in the IBCA WCh 2019. I chekk that one as well. Many thanks for your encouragement. I new video will come right not.
@@MagnussonChessAcademy Thank you very much for taking my comment into consideration. There are not many strong players in Chess in Turkey. And I am very curious about the matches of Turkish players against the bests of visually impaireds.
Thanks a lot, you definitely deserve more
Hello sensei jörgen! I really love your games and i am a big fan of your videos. I have some problems with choosing and studying openings. How do you choose your openings and study them, can you give this rookie yankster an advice about that issue?
Hi and many thanks for your kind workds and question! Sorry for late response. I don't know your exact level, but if you are pretty new to chess, I would recommend openings tht are fairly siple with relatively few patterns that you can get to know. Right now, for instance, Alex Colovic has a good introduction to the Scandinavian defence for new players on Chessable. Not too demanding openings give more scope to deepen the understanding of structures. I would also recommend Queen's gambit declined as black. Of course, there is a lot of theory, but head for lines with structures that you are interested in learning. I am currently working on such material for my students right now, so you will see it in this chanel in the future. As white I would recommend 1.e4, but avoid the most theoretical lines. I will get back on this as well, hopefully next week. Don't hesitate to contact me again, but I am still on cancer treatment so I might be a bit slow responding.
Gave like for encouragement, Jorgen. But you should learn short notation, proceed quicker, without irritating repetitions, and learn how to dispaly alternative variants on the blackboard.
Probably you joined the channel recently and you are most welcome! The main aim of the channel is to produce instructive chess material that is accessible for blind players as well as sighted. I am myself blind. I would easily move quicker and go through variation trees, but that would cause problems for the blind viewers. They often follow the game on a separate adapted chessboard. Moving quick, telling the moves only once, moving into variations would easily make blind followers loose thread. It is therefore I also include tn the description so that blind viewers more easily can get back on track if the have lost the thread. Myself, I just follow chess in my memory, but the main target group is not sighted players or advanced blind players like me. We already have a lot of other channels to chose from already. This channel is the only accessible one right now. I hope this helps yo understand better, and I hope to compensate with chess insights. Hope you will enjoy the upcoming series about Carlsbad structure for example.
I think the introductory video to the channel might be good to listen to getting context ua-cam.com/video/n3m09l2cSM8/v-deo.html&ab_channel=J%C3%B6rgenMagnusson
