Lets Explore Rare Wild Clam Species like you have never seen before! maxima, crocea, squamosa ect.
In this video I explore 10 different species of Giant Clams and Regular Clams including a few species I cant ID. All of these species are filmed like you have never seen before. In the Wild !! Footage is filmed across locations around Australia, Fiji, New Caledonia and Indonesia.
It is interesting to see the geographic/ environmental differences these species have as well as the areas they inhabit. Happy to discuss and be wrong if anyone wants to add what they think :) Lets discuss our oceans, cause I love it !
Most of these species are regularly seen in the Aquarium Hobby, but there is a serious lack of footage and understanding of where these clams actually come from and their habitats they live in. Hopefully this short video can inspire some people or at the very least entertain viewers interested in the ocean and its creature!
The Species in this video are:
Tridacna giga (Largest Giant Clam)
Tridacna maxima (Small Giant Clam
Tridacna crocea (Boring Clam)
Ctenoides ales (Electric Flame Scallop)
Tridacna noae (Tear Drop Clam)
Tridacna ningaloo (Now considered noae)
Tridacna derasa (Smooth Giant Clam)
Hippopus hippopus (Bear Claw Clam)
Tridacna squamosa (Giant Fluted Clam)
Spondylus varius (Giant Spiny Oyster)
Pinna bicolor (Razor Clam)
Let me know if there are any coral, fish or other marine animals you want to see !

😍
This is beautiful 🎉
does he sound like scooter brad or is that jus i
I know I’ve commented same thing but, it can be so hard to find good diving videos focused on coral. Other videos do not stop and focus on species. I’m very thankful for your work.
Thanks mate, I had the same thought and just started filming. I do drive my dive buddies nuts sometimes 😂😂
Yeah, this is the stuff I love
Nice !! 🍻
As great as this is, I would like some more informative content about reef restoration
Hopefully will be able to do this and some videos about it this year
This is amazing!
Thanks ☺️ glad you liked it !
Way to go!
Thanks ☺️
Really nice video again, like others said great content, keep m coming!
Thanks for the feedback ! I’ll keep them coming
Wow, this is a great channel We really need more people working on restoring coral reefs
Thanks mate, can’t agree more. Hopefully will have a few restoration projects soon
Anyone else notice..At the 3:33 mark, the color pattern of the Chalice shown with the Batfish. Reminds me of the color of the juvenile Pinnate Batfish
Hahaha yeh I actually had the thought, would love to see them in the same shot !
This patch reef environment is what I went for in my display. I arranged the bommies around each other instead of in a line though. My tank is 4’ x 3’ so, it’s better for that.
Damn 4x3 is an awesome size ! And yeh definitely a better arrangement for that size tank. What species do you have ?
Sweet great I used dive in the Red Sea Around Aqaba, Jordan also Maui , Hawaii. I miss it. Can you do LPS video like hammer, Forgspawn, Torch, Bubble corals??
Awesome 🤩
Amazing work man, I love Bommies, it's like it's only tiny ecosystem.
Thanks, yeh me too. I sometimes spend entire dives around one Bommie
@@reef_craft man your living my dream! How often do you get to go to the reef?
@ I try to go every 2 weeks in summer, when I live closer 2-3 times a week
Hahah very obviously not in Botany Bay. Its in New Caledonia 😅😅
You’re the best wow sweet. The easiest clams is dersa or corcea clam
Yeh I love croceas, the pattern and vibrance of colour is so cool
This little guy should be in a cartoon series. Neville the Nudibranch!
Brilliant idea
These videos are amazing! As a diver and an reef tank hobbyist they are the perfect blend of both. Keep them coming! If you are looking for video ideas, it would be interesting to organize videos based on region, so we can see species and formations specific to different reefs <3
Thanks mate, stoked your enjoying them ! Yeh I should do regional based content, love that idea !
Loving the channel mate, would be interested to see more macro algaes in the wild
I am filming more and building a bit of a library of them. What type or species are you wanting to see ?
@reef_craft Any native Australian species really. I watched the Toadfish short you put up and thought it looked like a really lush freshwater aquarium which is something I'd love to try and recreate at home.
Ok I get what you want to see now, ill see what I can put together
Would love to see some huge tabling hyacinthus acropora
Nice idea, I should be able to do that ! Usually heaps in the background shots
I absolutely love this video. Subscribed, and looking forward to exploring your channel.
Thanks mate ! Love your channel. I found it through a Facebook post on one of the Australian reefing pages
Favorite channel on youtube. Keep up the good work
Cheers mate ! Stoked you enjoy the content
one of my favorite reefing related videos I have ever seen!!! I love clams and had read Daniel Knops book on Giant clams which does not include Noae (as it is super old) and it was awesome to see that in the wild! One thing I have always wanted to see footage of in the wild if Leopard wrasses, if you ever see one I'd love to see the footage of where they hang out. Great stuff!
Thanks mate ! I have that book ! And yeh hoping to find some different coloured noae this year. I actually have a few clips of wild Leopard Wrasse. Maybe I’ll do a wrasse video 🤔 Thanks again for the feedback
Would love to see a video about lobophytum/ finger leathers. Especially the variety of their preferred conditions and when you see them next to sps
Yeh I like that idea, I do find them in sps dominated areas but obviously not great when like that in a tank. I’ll try and make something for this soon 🫡
informative as always
Thanks mate 🍻
Maybe next video about NPS corals? :D
Oooooo I like this Iv added to my list
These videos are the best! 🎉🪸🐠💙
Thanks heaps! Glad you like them! 🪸🪸🪸
Hi, really love the video, any chance you do one on interesting fish or something along those lines? Again love these videos
Thanks mate, Love the idea, maybe I’ll break them up into genus or something like that !
I love seeing naturally lit reefs. I wish we had reef lighting that recreates this aesthetic!
They are amazing! Hopefully 1 day we will have the technology
Only problem with your channel is you don't upload often enough ;) The great fotage with information, good tempo and length too, really sets you apart from other diving videos, . Can't wait for the next one!
Hahaha I wish I could do more ! Thanks for the feedback ☺️ it really means a lot and stoked that people are enjoying them !
I didn’t realise how boring clams were
Hahaha plenty of boring clams out there 😅
Amazing content, your videos from the wild help me better understand my reef tank. I would love to see a video of symbiotic relationships in the wild 😊
Thanks I’m glad they are helping ! What type of reef and animals do you keep ? Yeh that’s a good idea I’ll add it to my list !
@@reef_craft at the moment just a nano mixed reef, bit of everything as I'm fairly new to the hobby, I've brought a used 6ft water box tank so hopefully set that up this year. Id love to set it up with 3 bommies and pick a lot of smaller fish, I take screen shots of your videos for references :)
Awesome ! love nanos, can really make a little slice of ocean. I actually saw amazing set of 3 bombies over sand the other day ill post it today as a short and tag you for inspiration.
thanks for picking up my suggestion :)
No problem mate ! Was a great suggestion. Hope the footage is good enough.
@@reef_craftplenty good !
My new favourite channel. keep it up
^
Thanks 🤩 will do !
Means a lot !
😍 WOW
I know imagine this under artificial lights
Gorgeous fish 🤙🏽 Do you have an aquarium? Or don’t need one with the amount of diving you do?
Stunning fish Yeh I have 2 😊a nano with me in the eastern states and a 1500lt display in Perth. I did a few posts of them a while ago
@ I’ll go back and find them 🤙🏽
Awesome footage mate 🙌🏽
Thanks took me so long to build a little trust with that goby
😍
Would love to see them under blue lights
Imagine 🤤🤤
BRO. Diving shots of aquarium coral get me so hyped. Seriously. Please continue!!
Thanks mate ! I will keep it going cause it gets me hyped too hahah, not coral but I’m doing clam species for my next video 🪸
Wow 😍
Epic is it ! It’s funny these colours are rare but once you find a patch they are everywhere !
@ Yeah seems to be the way 🤙🏽 love it
😍
Beautiful! We don't have that color here.
Thanks, yeh it is rare here too
Awesome video!! Cheers mate
Thanks, love the feedback
OOH!!! 🦄
In the flesh !!
Awesome videos! Any chance for a video about acanthastrea/micromussa?
Thanks, Im currently building a bit of a library of those species as I haven’t found heaps of them. But when I do I’ll make one ! I posted a short of a bowerbanki a few months ago
LoOVE these vids!!!
Thanks ☺️
Thats amazing. Thank you for sharing this.
So awesome !!
What great footage! thank you so much for sharing!
Thanks! Happy you enjoyed it ☺️
