Thanks for suggesting newspapers. I didn’t put mine out for recycling today; I’m definitely going to try this for planting carrots! I tried the cornstarch method and wasn’t happy. In another video, it was suggested that you use the spacing to which you think the carrots.

Oh I'm so glad it was helpful to you! I used my carrot seed tape last year and it certainly helped me keep them the right distance apart - I didn't even have to thin them out - which is great, because I'm not a good thinner-outter! 😊

We had some lovely peppers, I just didn't get them on video. They were also yellow and long. I'm planting them again this year so will definitely make a point to video them.

Aww, you're so sweet to say ❤️ If You're using non-hardy seeds, I would suggest getting a wee bit closer to your last frost date, but you could do a wee experiment with two plantings to see how they'd do. Have you done the milk carton thing before? I really enjoyed doing that last year. Uni is kicking my hiney this year and a long with some changes at work, energy levels are low. But I've got some plans for videos once the weather's better and I can do more outdoors. Don't give up on me just yet - I've a lot in store for this year! 🙂

Yay! We loved Pentland Javelin. I've grown them the last two years. I wanted to see how the red skins did this year, so I'll let you know how they get on. I think the home grown varieties are just so much nicer than anything in the supermarket. And you know exactly how they were grown 😊

I have considered wooden raised beds before, especially in that same bed, but I'm looking forward to working on these at this height. I really think it'll make things easier to get to.

Yes, my two oldest and their families have been affected, school being out, etc. We've not had a great time here, to be honest. Just been through two pretty significant storms (enough they were named). I will still be using my fabric containers for many of my veggies and fruit, as well. Will be interesting to see how they go. I think the fact they're painted inside and out will delay rusting, so it's definitely something to keep an eye on. It's certainly good to be back! I've missed my people 💗

Clearly better to have low cholesterol than fewer snails. I suppose someone with a serious snail problem could get egg shells from a friendly restaurant.

I've been trying to grow Okra here, but it just doesn't want to grow. We had tons of it in Arkansas and I thought I'd be a smarty pants and grow it here. I'll keep trying! 💗

@@containingmygarden I can't get mine past the seedling stage, so I can't get them outside to the sun 😂 But it took me a few tries to get my leeks to work and now I have beautiful leeks from the garden (harvested 213g for tonight's dinner!). I won't stop trying 💗

If I was a coffee drinker, that'd be ideal - as long as the container is glass, because they tend to scratch plastic. It's a good workout with the mortar and pestle 😂 (I did manage to find a bigger one!)

Wow! You have your own carrot factory there! I reckon the seed tape would be really useful on a smaller scale, or to do during the winter months when not much is going on. You'll be swimming in carrot soup, you will! 😁

I don't bother with it. The blight *should* die off in the winter. I reused some of my tomato compost from last year and I know at least two of them had late blight and I didn't get it this year until late again. I'm not going to say it's absolutely safe, maybe I got lucky. But I'll be reusing the compost again next year.

@@robinscontainergarden Thank you! Never before had tomato blight (early) so wasn't sure what to do. None of the other plants got it, thank goodness.

@@CharDidIt this year has not been the best year for growing things outdoors in Scotland. Hopefully next year will be great and none of us will get the blasted blight 💗

I use compost, not potting mix or soil. I garden mainly in containers and I find that compost works better for me. I will enrich older compost with fresh compost, manure, and slow release fertilizer, like blood, fish, and bone.

They are wonderful. The only attention they needed was a little gentle guidance to the trellis on the arch and watering in a dry spell. 😊

I hope you don't, either. Mine arrived in a wee cardboard box, but was in perfect condition. You'll have to tell me how you like it! ☺️

Peas are a no-go here, I think. Far too many critters who love the shoots. 😂 Don't give up on the beans - this wasn't the best of seasons to get a true feeling of how things will go. Do you have any raised beds?

I just love the flavour! I can't remember where I bought my first packet, but I loved the look of them. That's what drew me. I guess I judged a bean by it's cover and I was right! 😂

Aww, thanks! We're fine. It's been a rough few days, though. What's left of the garden is pretty much trashed, but at least it's the stuff that was already on its way out. Beans and leeks survived, but I have flower heads all over the place. We've had road closures all around us for three days due to flooding but I didn't need to get out, so we were fine. Luckily, we never lost power. Thanks for checking on us 💗

It was very easy to handle. I've seen people using them one-handed, but I feel better using both. So as long as you have a way to keep something steady whilst cutting, it's very easy to handle.

I think it's just one of those things we've been told over the years; green potatoes are bad. So we're just used to throwing them in the compost heap or in the bin. Even if people aren't keen gardeners, they could have a lovely wee container which will grow potatoes. 💗 I grew Red Duke of York last year - they're quite tasty!

Sweet potatoes are my favourite, too but we don't get the heat where I live to grow outdoors. If I ever get a proper greenhouse, I'll try! I think we learn from our gardens every year. The weather is a huge factor and we never know when will be THE year or when will be a year like we've had here this year. We've had a couple of light frosts but not any biggies yet. My first frost not due till November, but I expect it'll be sooner. I just have the leeks, beans, and some winter greens still growing. Easing into letting the garden sleep this year. ☺️

Yay!! I've a bonus video on Friday, but my normal regular video, we'll have a chat about it! I grew Arkansas Traveler & Marglobe (slicing tomatoes) and Black Cherry, Sungold, Cherry Baby, and my star - Cherry Falls (all cherries). I'm going to grow mainly cherry next year and about a million Cherry Falls (possible exaggeration there 😂). What did you grow?

Hi! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. Baby corn is immature unfertilized corn, grown as sweet corn would be. I've never grown it as baby corn, though so I don't know all the ins and ours of growing it. Would certainly be worth looking into, especially if that's what you want to grow. I'll be growing corn again next year, in a container, and have had good luck growing it that way. Have a look at my video on Hand Pollination (birds stripped my first few tassels) and that may be of some help, too. 😊

I have always wanted to, but haven't made it - yet. The hat was a gift from a lovely lady who asked me to repair an old family birthday book, which was falling apart. I didn't expect it, but I wear it with pride and think of her every time I put it on. It won't be long before it's time to start wearing it again! 😊 Welcome to the channel x
