Helping horses with people problems!
Thankful Thursday 🙏🌞 New sand for the round pens! 🐴
Thankful Thursday 🙏🌞 New sand for the round pens! 🐴
Lately, I’ve been in need of new sand for my round pens. They were hardening in the middle too quickly after ripping, making starting horses a little less safe and more inconvenient.
I called a gentleman who had two loads of sand. He had them delivered, and another friend and neighbor spread it out. 🚜💪
As I and the horses travel in this sand this morning, it feels soft, comfortable, and safe. 🐎✨
I’m thankful to have the new sand and to those who helped get it here! 🙏🏽
Having gratitude is part of the foundation to success in horsemanship and in any part of your life. 🌟
What are you thankful for today? I’d love to read your comments. 👇

Put in the blood...
Trail Tip with Luke Brown - What side of the street do I ride? 🤔❓

Trail Tip with Luke Brown - What side of the street do I ride? 🤔❓ 🛑Traffic can be one of the most dangerous things we deal with as equestrian trail riders. Knowing what side of the road to ride is vital to increasing your safety. 💯 As a general rule, I recommend riding on the same side of the road of traffic coming towards you. 🏞 So, if I’m riding down a road that’s on my right, traffic closest...
🌟 Winning Wednesday 🌟 Get comfortable with being uncomfortable.
Переглядів 111Місяць тому
With all the modern conveniences in life, we have become soft and unable to handle some of the uncomfortable challenges that come our way. 💪✨ We lose mental and emotional strength when we don’t go through challenging things. So, when we feel comfortable, let’s find ways to get uncomfortable. 🔥 🚴 Start a workout program. 🗣️ Learn a new language. 🐴 Take a horsemanship clinic or lesson. Do somethi...
🐴 Trail Tip With Luke Brown - Move Livestock with Your Horse! 🐄🐑
Переглядів 592 місяці тому
One great way to create a better trail horse is by moving livestock, such as sheep or cows, with your horse. 🐎 Not only is this a lot of fun 🎉, but it also educates your horse and gives him something to focus on, helping him learn not to be afraid. By following livestock, your horse will gain confidence 🦌 that will help when encountering wildlife or other animals, like deer, elk, dogs, coyotes,...

🐴 Trail Tip with Luke Brown - The Steps to Crossing Water 💧
Переглядів 1122 місяці тому
Before attempting to help your horse learn to cross water from the ground, it’s vital to teach certain groundwork exercises. 🐎 Your horse should be soft, relaxed, and responsive when doing exercises such as Lunging with Purpose, Backing out of your space, Hindquarter Yields, and the Pass Through exercise. 🌀 Once they can perform these exercises well, you can work on asking them to cross water. ...
💪 Winning Wednesday! Mastery requires work. 🏆

Today, as I was listening to the Journey On Podcast with Warwick Schiller, he said something simple, yet profound: 💬 “If you’re going to have mastery at anything, you’ve got to put in the work.” One of the greatest and most simple factors that separates those who dabble in something from the masters is work! 👏 Experts have said that it takes 10,000 hours of practice to achieve expert level at s...
🐴 Training Tip Tuesday - Teach your horse to handle high-pressure situations!
Переглядів 4132 місяці тому
Often, horses with problems like bucking, rearing, and bolting haven’t been taught to handle high-pressure situations. Pistol, the 4-year-old quarter horse in training, had a serious bucking problem that came from getting over-stimulated. Her mind couldn’t handle intense situations. When she loses emotional and mental composure, she bucks. How do we fix this? By teaching her, little by little, ...
✨ Motivational Monday! ✨ What other people think of you is none of your business. 🧠💡

My 10-year-old daughter 🎤 will be singing this week in a talent show, and she has been worried about “messing up” and having other kids in her school judge her for it. 👩🎤😬 My wife wisely told her that what other people think of her is none of her business. 💬🙌 Every human being has great potential, and to reach towards it, we must try and fail forward. 🌱💪 If we allow others’ judgments to dictat...

✨ Winning Wednesday - Be Persistent! ✨
Переглядів 462 місяці тому
Whatever your goals in life or horsemanship, be persistent in trying to attain them! 🌟 I’m a firm believer that those who persist will eventually achieve what they’ve set out to do. 💪 🐴 Pistol is a 4-year-old quarter horse in training because she has a bucking issue. My goal is to get her to relax and stop bucking, naturally. For the past 2 1/2 weeks, I’ve been working on yielding and relaxing ...
🐴 Training Tip Tuesday - Hop and Skip During Lead Beside! 🐴
Переглядів 392 місяці тому
Many horses can be reactive when approached by someone on the ground, especially at first. One exercise I teach in my groundwork series is Lead Beside, where I hold the lead rope about 4️⃣ feet from the snap and ask the horse to circle while I walk or jog beside them, near their shoulder. Once your horse learns to bend, relax, and move forward at your pace, try hopping and skipping beside them!...

The Horsemanship Minute - 🐴 Lateral step to start the lunge
I am an Ohioan who migrated to Southern Arizona a few years ago. We are outside all day, everyday. This turned out great for us because when we are riding out in the wilderness, we are alone. It's too hot for most people. Now it's coming into fall and we are alone because it's too windy. Soon it will be winter and it will be too cold. Most people just can't tolerate the weather changes.
And plastic bags 😂
In California with Alfafa I watched for enteroliths
