European Ghosts - Music Moves Europe
Приєднався 3 тра 2021
EUROPEAN GHOSTS is a MUSIC MOVES EUROPE CO-CREATION project and preparatory action. Our findings in the creative exploration on the co-creation of new works based on European ancient musical traditions, re-invented for the 21st Century, will inform the new Creative Europe programme helping shape the way forward for music support programmes in the new Creative Europe framework.
Local folk music traditions, both in terms of living practices as well as old instruments that may have disappeared, will be brought to daylight.
As different stories are told, by way of performances and interviews with local artists and experts, European Ghosts will launch its Open Call for a co-creation Residency that will take place during 10 days at Clouds Hill Studios, Hamburg, an analogue, vintage-gear-laden creative playground for artists.

European Ghosts "Kořeny / Roots"
EUROPEAN GHOSTS is a MUSIC MOVES EUROPE CO-CREATION project and preparatory action. Its findings in the creative exploration on the co-creation of new works based on European ancient musical traditions, re-invented for the 21st Century, will inform the new Creative Europe programme helping shape the way forward for music support programmes in the new Creative Europe framework.
The project consisted of 3 phases: European Folk Mapping, Residency and Dissemination. This song is a result of artistic residencies, curated by NORD University’s Professors Hans Stop and Frode Fjellheim, Lusitanian Ghosts’ Neil Leyton, as well as guest artist curators Joana Negrão (Seiva, A Cantadeira) and Misia Furtak. The co-creation residencies took place at Clouds Hill Studios, Hamburg, an analogue, vintage-gear-laden creative playground for artists.
The artistic collective, which emerged from the residencies presented the music written during the co-creation residencies during WestWay Lab 2022, in Portugal.
These European co-creations can also lead to new works, side-projects and stories to be told by way of new music releases, promotion, synch deals and other ways to tell the stories from the European Ghosts residencies: stories old and new, based on ancient European music cultures and traditions, point the way forward to brand new European Sounds and even new genres of music still awaiting to be discovered.
Kořeny / Roots
Lyrics:
Kde jsou ty kořeny
Kudy tečou
Jestlipak už víš
Kudy tečou
I když nevěříš, tak tě svlečou
Translation:
Where are the roots
Where are they flowing to?
Do you know
Where they are heading?
Even if you don’t believe it,
They will undress you to the bones.

Does anyone know the first song their singing
Wspaniale.
thank you so much!!!!!!
so so beautiful! I would love to join a Lemko singing group in the U.S~ does anyone know of any (virtual or in person)?
it depends on where you're at in the U.S. My family was part of the East Slavic groups that immigrated and settled in the Ohio Valley and Appalachia during the 20th century, to escape the Bolsheviks. There's a huge Slavic diaspora, a big chunk of them being Lemko or of the Rusyn ethnicity in general. I know that there are festivals in Youngstown, OH even now still that are held to celebrate and show traditions and music etc. I am unaware of any other Lemko diaspora, or other Rusyn or Slavic diaspora anywhere else in the U.S. that are actively celebrating and having festivals, but then again I lived in the Ohio Valley all my life, somewhat in the Lemko + Slavic diasporas with my church but also in the city half the time (personal circumstance). I know there were Serbians and Romanians that moved and settled in the Dakota states and intermingled with the Germanic immigrant diaspora there too, but I am not sure if they celebrate like we do, and like the Serbians in Ohio Valley do. I am no longer in Ohio Valley, I moved to the Southern states due to reasons. But I do have links for the diaspora and festivals that are coming together in the Ohio Valley. I will post them in the following comments. I am not sure if they will be helpful, since we are just random people on the Internet and I have no idea what U.S. region you are from, but I hope it helps with expanding your knowledge at least. :)

Love Lemko- Ukrainian songs. Full of beauty and emotions
@@vladimirskala Most Lemkos are in Ukraine. Don't need lectures from you, Scald 💙💛
@@vladimirskala How long ago.....1960's???! Lemky from the Polish territories are strongly Ukrainian orientated. No-one was dancing for joy in soviet times. Times have moved on. Your use of the word "boy" does not do you any favours regarding your attitude which is reminiscent of the negative american connotations towards certain groups!! A lecture for you Scold
@@vladimirskala And vice-versa. Even in the film, they talk about Ukrainians and the Lemkos sharing songs. Don't come across any Lemkos in Poland protesting about those Poles who claim they are Polish!!
Very moving and an important documentary - I loved it
I loved the explanation thanks
Bardzo ciekawy film!👍🎵
Wspanialy film. Wzruszenie i radość.
Kapitalny dokument!
<3 !
Fantastic explanation I will use with my choir - we are going to learn a Joik called heolohiya.
Tusind takk for denne fantastisk forklaring på alt omkring joiken.
