A Scottish Fantasy by Jane Darcey performed with Erik Kowarski
Переглядів 120Місяць тому
I wrote this piece in 2011 for concert guitarist and composer Duncan Gardiner and recently rearranged it to play with my friend folk fiddle master Erik Kowarski. It images three aspects of Scotland - her endurance and pride, the lovely sentimentality of her ballads and of course a Scottish jig. I am playing my new Christopher Dean guitar in concert for the first time in this video, recorded at ...
The Earth Is Wounded by Jane Darcey

This piece is my own comment on the way we are treating Gaia, the earth. It contrasts the devastation of the natural environment with the beauty of nature and ends with hope for the future. Many thanks to recording artist Erik Kowarsky for the meticulous recording and sensitive editing.

Thank you so much!
Great!
Very stooky
Fantabulous. A wonderful performance. This is my first visit to your site and it was an instant like and subscribe. 🧡🧡
Thank you so much!
That's the right speed for learning tremolo. The correct speed will come slowly if you keep practising it.
@@johnlay3040 Dear John, look at the hair. I've been playing this piece for 30 years. Speed has never held any fascination for me.
@janedarcey4333 Enjoy. 😄
大変勉強になりました。素晴らしいです。
@@johnlay3040 oh I do! I leave the fascination with speed and competition to those who confuse arts with patriarchal sports. I did work hard on speed to please my dear teacher, Gilbert Biberian, while he was alive, but it really isn't my thing. This world needs more gentleness and kindness and less competitive one-upping behaviour. You learn what counts by the age of 68.
@janedarcey4333 Please don't get me wrong. I am not by any means confused between the speed in sport and art. Recuerdos does need to be played at a certain speed to get its beauty out.
I love the bearclaw spruce top of her guitar. ❤
Very stooky
Wonderful!!!
thank you so much, Michael.
Very good interpretation❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you so much!
toca la pieza muy bien, siendo esta de gran complejidad.

Not bad. Very good. 👍🏽
Hermoso saludos!
Thank you!
❤❤❤❤
Many thanks!
Great.! Thank you Very much.!♥️♥️👍👍
I'm glad you enjoyed it.
This piece floored me! How many pieces have you composed in total? I haven't had a chance to go back and look through your whole channel.
Thank you for your appreciation and your interest. I can give a detailed answer to your question via Messenger or email. my facebook name is Jane Rigden (my maiden name) if you want to contact me on Facebook Messenger. Most of my recent music is on youtube. My earlier music can be found at www.janedarceyclassicalguitar.com
I enjoyed this composition of yours. It's got driving, motivic force, sweet melodies, and a great deal of emotion behind it all.
That is so kind. There are strong feelings there - it was the last piece I was working on with Maestro Biberian before he left us in January, 2023. He never got to hear the final version.
Hermoso gracias🎉🎉
Thank you!
Lovely
Very nice. Thanks!
You are so very welcome.
You play it more clearly than I.
Keep working on it!
Beautiful playing. Might I ask about the beautiful guitar you are playing here? : Maker, woods, age, etc.
Hello, Thank you for your kind comments. The guitar is by Andres De Jager, made in Perth, Western Australia. It is the last instrument that he finished and is dated 1987. Spruce top (he always seasoned his own wood), Brazilian rosewood back and sides.
@@janedarcey4333, Thanks for getting back to me. It is a very beautiful guitar. I love the bearclaw figure. So are you in Australia? I have a grandmother from Hobart.
@@FiddleSticks800 yes I live in WA. Where are you?
very nice work, jane!
Thanks, Miles.
Really great pieces! Has anyone made a commercial recording of these?
Ricardo Iznaola has a video available and Denian and Raymond Burley are about to make a CD of music by Gilbert Biberian which will include the Four Waltzes. There is a lot of other brilliant music by Biberian that has neither been performed nor recorded. I have just completed a Masters on his life and work. Contact me via facebook (Jane Rigden) if you want to know more.
Very beautiful.
Thank you so much, Phillip.
Really lovely, Jane. 💖
Thank you Nina!
Very beautiful and explendid performance! New subs!
Really beautiful and well done!
Thank you so much! It comes from the heart.
Just wonderful music and performance ❤
Thank you, Carlose. I am delighted that you like it.
So moving. Thanks.
Thank you, Mark. Libby was the sister of my dear teacher Gilbert Biberian. I never met her, but she was kind, generous and happy. Her passing was very hard for him. The music uses letters from both their names and the word peace (the p in music indicating soft volume.).
This is so beautiful and technically very complex. Just became your fan!
Wow! I have a fan now. Seriously, thank you. I love Gilbert's music.
lots of complex colors, very nice, by the power vested in me as an official internet steve i hereby dub you a partially fulfilled master, bravo on you from america
Thank you Official Internet Steve! 😆
I really enjoyed that - a lovely sound with a rich warm bass., and the piece is great - lots to like on a first hearing, and I' m sure full of things to really appreciate on repeated listening.
Thank you so much Gerard. It's a lovely piece to play.
I love this piece. Thanks for posting
Thank you so much, Roger! I'm so glad.
My father’s favourite Dowland piece! Plucked to perfection, bravo!
Thank you so much, Steve! It is one of my favorite pieces of all time.
Lovely. Vintage Gilbert played most sensitively. I'll be back to listen again!
Thank you so much Chris. Your approval means the world to me. There is room for improvement on this performance, but the music is out there now, and I am sure many other people will want to play it.
Absolutely gorgeous! Thank you so much for sharing. GB RIP
I have just completed a dissertation on his life and music, including lessons I had with him on performance and composition and recordings of 7 of his pieces and 4 of mine, written with his guidance. I miss him so much still...
Very stooky
