Here's both days from Preston and Hunter's tournament on Lake Okeechobee out of Clewiston FL. Hunter and Preston both fished Day 1 for the South Trial and on Day 2 Preston fished the Fall Trial.

I haven't been to Conway in years, but when I was there, I caught a bunch of small fish too. But, if you go back, throw a running toad by docks and floating docks...I had bigger fish hit those up shallow vs out deep...not sure why, but give it a try if you go back...great video!

I fish them with worm hook and no weight. I rig it like a plastic worm

3-4 fish per lure is probably average
Actually it’s not! Especially with wacky rigs it’s typically 1 to 2 fish!
I also like using circle hook . Here is a tip to make it swim sidways under docks and overhanging branches. Rig between the 2 slots. Cast past target making sure the nose of the bait is pointed towards target. Immediately start twitching once bait hits water and keep twitching on top of water it will then swim under dock . Once it reaches desired spot just stop and work like a wacky rig
That’s cool! We use circle hooks as well! But we actually hook them through the nose!

Couple years ago, bought the 9" Slug-go...took it out, not expecting much....caught a couple real nice bass 3,4 lbs. which are good size for ohio and lost what looked to be my PB around 8 lbs. as the hook fell out right at the kayak...still haunts me today...Big baits= Big Bass

My uncle taught me how to fish these. First lure i ever caught a fish on. Fish it weedless set up like a weightless texas rig. Have to have the right size and weight hook, or it sinks too fast. I like it to just kind of float there in between 2 or 3 twitches to make it dart around like a shad. They're deadly.

I don’t throw a Carolina rig unless I’m throwing a Sluggo. Sluggo is a staple on Fork. Very very underrated

We've been fishing these since I was a kid. I grew up fishing these at Fork. One of my dad's best friends swore by the red shad ones.

Sluggo's been around a long time. I love it. You can fish it so many different ways. You can even fish it like a fluke and get some good action from it.

I can't begin to count how many tournament bass I caught on Slug-Go's back in the 80"s and 90's. The 4" size in black/gold fleck and the red shad color were hard to beat, and yes, with the hook slot in the "belly" of the bait, they could be fished (Texas rigged weightless) in the both weeds and Lilly pads.
It really is a great bait!
I wish Zman would put something similar out.
When I bought my Champion I had to buy the guy's tackle too, which included high quality rods and reels and a boat load of sluggos. I'm going to have to re-learn how to fish them.

I couldn't even say how many bass I've caught on Slug-Go's back in the day. They came out a couple years before the original Fluke and I think the Fluke was a little more versatile, especially when the Super Fluke came out. I still have several unopened packs of Slug-Go's I've been meaning to try out again.

The Slug-Go was the shit back in the day in bass tournaments before the Senko. Their HQ is down the street from my house.

How do you keep them from popping out of the water when you work them?
@johnstrain240 I count it down when it hits the water to get it to the depth I want. Just like a hard jerk bait, I only work it on slack line. That gives it a sharp darting action.
@@richg.4513 After watching the video I can see that using a weighted hook would really help keep it down.

Yes! It’s a very old school bait! Hunter fishes with a ton of the old school and older baits!
