You've got a good system. Although I would strongly suggest you go do the competency and apply for a handgun. I was very much in the same boat of not getting a firearm for EDC and let's just say that incident back in July 2021 was a wake up call. So for the last 2 years I carry everyday. 2 things I find to use the most, is a quality EDC torch and a light pocket knife. My phone is straight up a heavy duty Ulefone that can stand my daily use and outdoor needs. For me carrying a FA has given me reassurance that I'm not helpless and actually has made me more aware of my surroundings outside.
