RIP Robbie. Such talent, class, and integrity.
How you keeping Jody? Hope that you are OK xx Have you seen/heard his last collab with Scorcese yet?
So, anyway, I had this dream at The Eagles Nest, and there was this onetime band, "The Goulden Band" and the album was called "Melt", and it was impossible because THEY were there too...losing your freedom is the worst dream there is. nice work.
Is that bono in the background vocals
Is Pamela still around? I met her 10 years ago in West Hampstead, London. She was good fun.
I think so. Haven't heard otherwise.
I can see Peter Gabriel covering this and his vocals would suit it perfectly.
Love you so much Pamela ❤❤

Cuantas historias mi papa me cuenta sobre este festival. Mar y Sol
When I got there Emerson Lake and Palmer were in stage. I don't remember anything else. ha ha ha
awesome production of some jewel... maraming salamat po!!! MABUHAY!!!
I was living in Puerto Rico at that time , just out of the Army. They really should make a documentary about this amazing Rock n Pop fest in Puerto Rico back in 72'
Much loved by my dear friend the late Boss (David) Goodman, ex-Pink Fairies roadie, it was H who got Boss his job at Dingwall's as booker, upgrading him from his normal gig there as the house DJ and sometime cook. H decided to go to Greece for the fatal holiday and passed his book of contacts over to Boss, made the necessary introductions, and left the next few weeks of live music in Boss's capable hands. Of course H never came back, and Boss's temporary position became permanent, allowing Boss to cement and move his already good name in the Underground as a 'mover and shaker' onto another level. Boss flourished as H vanished - it was a deal that didn't always sit well with Boss, who first met H at the Speakeasy where H would DJ. He loved H dearly, admired him, and never stopped missing him. Boss used to tell me about the time H was run down in the Portobello by a drunk cop whose car broke both of H's legs. While recovering in hospital H not only successfully sued the cop, but effectively set up tour management for a number of acts and laid plans for his own future at Dingwall's as part of the original team. Boss was always impressed with a 'go out and get it' attitude, and H had it in spades, as well as being one of the few honest, and universally liked, people in the music biz.. It's fair to say that Boss felt that his own success was in part due to H, and in particular to H's disappearance, and that was a cruel irony that cast a long sad shadow. I never met H, but I knew Boss like a brother and his admiration makes me really wish I had.
This is the guy that gave Frank Zappa his Hendrix strat. Frank let him crash a few days at his house and Howard gave him the guitar. This was back in 1968 and Dweezil Zappa has the guitar now.
I was at the 1967 concert. It was excellent. Jimi Hendrix was in the audience. I remember seeing him when we were leaving.
Deberían hacer un documental y una película para el cine ya que esta generación desconoce de esto yo como me gusta el rock y el metal compré un disco de esa época en plaza las Américas Puerto Rico mar y ☀️
Years later thanks for the letter via max all be wishes x
Too bad there aren't better videos available. I have pics from when I was there. which were four of us one being my future brother in law. We had a blast and it WAS crazy. There's no nudity in this video, but people were going around in their birthday suits and having sex in the river that turned out to be polluted with Hepatitis.
Fuck America
Mar y Sol!!
I was there with about 30 friends from New Jersey. We heard about it on Wplj radio. 4 of us quit our jobs that day. That night we on a plane out of Newark. Seemed like everyone on the plane was on an acid trip. Those were the best of times.
Are you guys in northern England, like Liverpool or Manchester-ish? Just wondering cuz you look like it.
OMG after so many years I view this and other videos about that Very Special moment in my life. Just out of the Military so spending those days at the Festival were like Heaven. Great Music , great memories with some good Friends. Funny moments , wild ones, High ones lol. Wish I still had the double album. A Special moment in my life.
Pam, lovely, video, thank you. I was looking for my parents in the videos. I thought I saw my dad in one of them with my dog, my mom sounds very muh like you.dad past over 20 years ago. I had a magial, free childhood. Dr.Dyanesa Pacheco, from San Juan living in Toledo, Spain
Sorry. This comment was for the Tune or really just jam I did,Mar y Sol. Thanks and god bless you
i have wondered about this fella for at least 30 years. I thought he was a Jimi friend or roadie or something. I am pretty sure this is the guy you can see behind Jimi at the Island of Wight video (see Voodoo Chile). He is yawning away. Now I would give an arm or a leg to see a Jimi gig, but having played, roadied and attended a few of my own - I know this is the reality of gigs. You party on the night before, go for 20 something hours getting to the gig, setting up and after midnight your friend who you have seen play many times (but love) is playing. You're exhausted, partying on, but ...so tired. Another Jimi connection dies in mysterious circumstances. Too many.
"H" Howard Parker was Hendrix' roadie in the earlier days circa '67~'68. By 1970 and IoW it would have been Eugene McFadden. He's in that movie, probably yawning because it was around 3 a.m. when Jimi finished his set there.
I really enjoyed listening to this Pam xxx
amazing!!
Everything changed for me too Pam. I was hit by a car weeks later on a motorcycle . I nearly died and almost lost my leg . But Mar Y Sol was a great experience for me I performed as the 2nd act of the day on Easter Sunday following John McGlaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra. As I played"Mar Y Sol" the theme song written for the Festival a rainbow stretched across the sky it was a clear message back then that Easter would be an important day for me in the future See the links below .I also closed the festival . I was the only solo artist to perform at Mar Y sol . No band just me . Listen to Mar Y Sol on my You Tube Channel www.JesusInTheClouds.com www.JosephLeeHooker.com
I was there and have something I'm thinking of putting together. I was psychic in a big way down there
I was there for the concert, and I'm glad I came down from my trip; seems like you're still in it :>) Thanks for the video, it brought back some good times and some bad about the concert.
A perfect moment in time from the guy in the video!
Like a cauldron of lead on the back of an elephant. Led by Gil Scott Heron.
I don't believe the Mothers played at the Albert Hall in 1968 (the years either side, yes), but the live clips used in this are certainly from 1968 - at the Royal Festival Hall.
Correct
Yes, the mix is not right for a documentary, can't hardly hear her. Vocal should be done first, make it mono, in both channels. Make the vocals up front, and add music as very low background music. Having a vocal in the music behind a narration distracts and confuses the watcher/listener, so it is best to have instrumental only music behind the narration. Wouldn't hurt to use some eq on the voice too, add some bottom end, maybe.
I am a Robbie Robertson fan :)
I agree with ErraticDisco, can you make Pamela's voice higher in the mix.
The soundtrack withe the music etc makes it hard to hear what Pam is saying
Good.
Awesome tune, one of my favourites The world is so close to watching the horses run as mentioned in the lyrics. Those who are awake to the current times we are living in will understand the comment. Is one ready to be judged for their testimony????
Damn. This was cool. I remember Venice in Santa Monica in the late 80's my old stomping ground.Love Robbie!
