Bunnahabhain 12yr Unpeated Review (WWR #199)
Переглядів 39Місяць тому
Bunnahabhain is a single malt scotch from the island of Islay. Even though Islay is traditionally known for it's high peat content, Bunnahabhain created a 12 year product that is unpeated. Does this change what it means to be an Islay whisky? Should they add a little peat so it differentiates itself form Speyside? Oban Distillers Edition Scotch Whisky Review (WWR #196)
Переглядів 642 місяці тому
Oban took a risk, they aged their whisky in a barrel that once housed a Spanish Fortified Wine called Montilla Fino. This white fortified wine added some interesting characteristics that were similar to Oban's normal 14 yr, but turned the volume up to 100%. Do you like when secondary maturation adds to the whisky, or exemplifies already present notes? Let us know in the comments below. Check ou...

Caol Ila 12 Whisky Review (WWR #193)
Переглядів 1523 місяці тому
Caol Ila is one of those distilleries located in Scotland that has a very small but very diehard fan base. Caol Ila is known for being the 'peaty' element in Johnny Walker, but it's so much more than that. The flavors that they have created in this distillery stand out against other Islay Whisky, and can be worthy for multiple sips. Have you had this before? Check out the video to hear the full...
Nick Offerman's Worst Lagavulin (WWR #192)
Переглядів 4484 місяці тому
Lagavulin is a peaty, yet gentle scotch. It's the more mature one when compared to it's neighbors (Laphroaig & Ardbeg). Nick Offerman worked with Lagavulin to age their whiskey in a Caribbean Rum Cask, and it just didn't work in our opinion. Have you had this before? Check out the video to find out! Size does matter. That's a conservative number, I've heard more along 2 million.
Track down the cask strength version. Its great. Havent seen it locally though, might need to find online. Visited Islay in May but didnt make it to this distillery sadly.
0 peat is used in the process. The water sourcing is from a local natural spring. In addition the water in the area is some of the cleanest/clearest water in the region. They do make 1 SKU that is peated. "Toiteach A Dha". Another peated option from the same master blended would be from Ledaig. Much softer peat IMO with lots of great fruit notes.
They also make a heavily peated single barrel product for binnys beverage depot in the states.

28 minutes in wondering when the title is going to correlate with the actual video...
It’s anywhere from $70 - $110 CAD and hard to come by. At least here in Alberta
I tried to watch but the music was just too distracting
It isn't just additive tequila people who don't care for Gritona, there are those who go additive free who also don't care for it. It isn't bad but is over-hyped, rather mediocre, and, for something reportedly free of additives, has hints of the artificial. In some locales, this is nearly $60 USD, more than double what it's worth.
Best bourbon i have ever had. Lost me with pine comment.
I had the same question! 😝
MidleTON distillery never sourced their whiskeys from Jameson. I think you mean Mitchell and Son's which was a wine shop in Dublin when Jameson was also in Dublin. Now the spots are distilled in Midleton near Cork where Jameson is also distilled. Before 1966 Jameson, Powers and Midleton were big competitors and they only converged on one location because they were all dying and they came to the realization that only together could they survive. They built a new distillery on the site of the Midleton distillery in 1975 and the rest is history. I'm a big fan of Blue Spot and Red Spot and always have Green Spot around. All of the Spots, Redbreast, Jameson, Paddys, Powers, Midleton Very Rare and until recently Tullamore D.E.W. were all distilled in the New Midleton Distillery. Tullamore D.E.W. is now distilled back in Tullamore since William Grant and Sons (Glennfiddich, Balvenie) bought it. It's quite extraordinary that so many different types of Whiskey can come out of the same distillery but they built the New Midleton Distillery just for that purpose and they can reconfigure which distillate goes where quickly to get what they want. If you take the tour at Midleton you will see the Old Midleton Distillery that they used up until 1975 however if you do the Distiller's Apprentice tour you get to go through the New Midleton Distillery where all current production comes from. Oh, by the way, great job on looking up (or already knowing) about Malaga fortified wines. For the most part I stopped watching UA-cam videos on whisky because people don't research anything before reading the label on-camera. Anyway, thanks for putting in the time and effort. Cheers!
Hey Grant! Thanks for the clarification and the kind words. Definitely misspoke about Midleton and meant Mitchell and Son's. Thanks for adding in the correct context there. Appreciate the recognition of the research (even though we misspoke regarding Midleton vs Mitchell & Sons :) ). We try to be as information as we can, and go a little deeper than surface level, so greatly appreciate the kind words! Whether your a passerby or a new friend, cheers!!
La Gritona is also additive free. Most people that don't like this are used to the over processed and additives that are in so many premium brands. This is one of my favorite tequilas now.
look for the Gold Spot. Not a fan of the Green Spot except for the ones finished in red wine casks.
We know someone that has Gold Spot. Chances of getting on the pod are slim unless we find it and buy it ourselves 🤣🤣🤣. Have you tried Yellow Spot?
@@BuffaloHappyHour being shipped to me today/
Got one from Cavalier in Lackawanna. Super sweet, 102° as well. Not very complex and it has a shorter finish for my palate, but I really enjoy it overall. I would probably buy it again if the store had any left. Cheers!
I'm drinking this now. It's quite good. Intenely smooth. Nice finish. It is on the sweet end, but it's very much worth the $50 price.
So how did they fins out?
There was an interview with the store clerk (10y later after the event) and she disclosed that. I think it was after Paul had passed as well
Disagree big time. It’s a great bottle.
That's the beauty about whisky. Everyone has a different palette and no one is wrong. To me, I like my Islay Scotch to be peaty, smokey, and somewhat spicy in comparison. The Caribbean rum Cask just added this molasses note that didn't go well in my opinion with the medicinal/iodine note that is buried in here. Glad you like it though. I mean, I'm still goin to finish the bottle :) cheers!
Fabulous! This is a huge favourite! Love Lagavulin 16 the most, then the DE, 12, Offerman, Laphroaig Cairdeas and 18 and Ardbeg. Laphroaig 10 cask strength is delicious!! 🤤
Loved this Lagavulin Offerman 11! I bought a case! My favourite was the Charred Offerman! It was the 3rd Offerman. Many people seem to be enjoying this beauty a lot! Cheers! 🙂
Cheers, that's the beauty of Whisky. Everyone's pallette is different. The caribbean cask just didnt jive well with me. Thanks for tuning in!!
@@BuffaloHappyHour Right?! I love that we can all have different experiences with scotch/whisky!! Cheers!! 🙂
@@BuffaloHappyHour Yes!! It's always interesting to see differences with palettes!
So what exactly would be a “significantly better sipping option for half the price”? Because I cannot think of one.
Hey! So here in New York, this bottle is close to $60. There may have been some hyperbole, but there's some options like Woodinville, Devils River, Wyoming, and Clyde Mayes that come in around $40. Thanks for tuning in!
Come to fact
Two is fine or poor 😂😂
Mr. Mike Kelly, I wish I met you about 25 years ago...I like ayour sense of humor & your intelect!
❤ 😮Congrats Dad, lucky your daughter looks nothing like you 😅
Maybe you need some nekropants, at least then you’d have a style of SOME sort
Damn, harsh. But, warranted lol.
It's definitely NOT an intense or strong product. I think it's just a mild and mellow product. Well, corn whiskey is aged, but it is aged in either used charred oak barrels or new uncharred oak barrels. So yes, it is aged. I'm glad you two got to try this. In Louisiana, we call them "soft drinks", not soda or soda pop.
The Spot range is not 100% malted barley. They're Single Pot Stills meaning they're a combination of malted barley and unmalted barley.
Yup, that's correct. Definitely misspoke on that, thanks for correcting!
I enjoyed this bourbon, the two times I tried it.
It's definitely a solid Kentucky option, just wish it was a little cheaper here in NY
Honestly i think gen z should be 1997-2005/2006. Younger gen z and elder gen z are entirely different cultures
I was literally thinking the exact same thing as I was watching this clip.
I think that the generation thing is shortening because of the leaps and bounds in technology. 97 is when computers truly took off and evolved quickly.
Yeah, it's pretty funny when you look at how large the gaps are in previous generations and they are all "generally" the same. The change in the Gen Z generation like you said is something to be studied.
I liked it a lot.
Im so happy to find a regional podcast, and love the food at Wing Nutz

Can I become a sponsor?
It can also depend on what the Laphroaig Cairdeas is - depending on what the release is it may not be worth it. In terms of availability, I think it's easier (overall) to find the annual Cairdeas release
People get married because of how they feel about the other person. Feelings are fleeting so people are quick to leave when they don’t feel the same about the other person. I think people should anchor their marriage to something more stable like faith and/or purpose.
Couldn't agree more. Our generation has lost its sense of community. Anchors like faith, ideology, and common interest went away and is replaced by superficial aspects.
90% the woman are at fault. let's be honest here. women get bored super easy. the relationship is always at risk when the women is mad, but never at risk when the husband is mad. the power dynamic is always hugely in favor on the women.. they have all the power, and they abuse it and they all divorce
It's not just that you change physically as you age, but also your way of thinking and feeling. Getting married as a young man or woman could turn out bad because the two aren't growing as one. I think divorces in modern day is due more towards communication, infidelity, and good ol financial instability.
It's just cast, Derek.
😂😂😂😂 what really 😂😂😂😂😂
Dammed if you do, dammed if you don't.
The Bills won't win 10 games. The AFC has passed them by. Diggs or no Diggs.
I think Dolphins fans have been saying that since they got Tyreek. Hasn't worked out for them
@BuffaloHappyHour Dolphins are a solid team. Albeit they don't have the QB to come out of the afc. As long as you have Josh Allen, your window is open. You need a head coach upgrade tho. My 2 cents.
Yeah, agree with Josh. Sometimes he struggles in the regular season but is pretty clutch when he's needed. Head coach situation is interesting, we'll probably talk about it in an episode as the season gets closer. I love McD as a person, but some or his decision making has made me believe we need someone more aggressive. In fairness, he did become more aggressive last year, so time will tell!
@BuffaloHappyHour I'll look forward to that episode. Some coaches can get a team up the hill from mediocrity to consistently good, but sometimes he's not the guy to take that same team all the way. Go get Pete Carroll. You'll be in the superbowl in 2-3 years.
I'm pretty sure that the organization told Allen, " Listen, once we changed Offensive Coordinators, we went 6-0, kid. Even if you don't like the idea of us getting rid of him, he's gone. You better come to peace with it." After all, Allen isn't Brady. One player doesn't dictate what the front office does.
Hope that’s true.
Agree. There has to be something we're not seeing that's behind the scenes too
Making a comparison to Balvenie is a bold statement. I'm sold. In buying one. Thanks for the review.
