I wasn't born when the siren was in newton abbot fire station remember the bleepers
Great video 👍 good to see the old Newtownabbey.....gotta love the radio message Junction of Abbeyville on the shore road 'firefighter in the back' where we going this time 🤣👌
Wow lovely sirens what are they called, the model? I would like to see about getting audio files. Thanks
They are Fiamm Two Tone Air Horns. There were two sets fitted on each appliance. One the driver operated and one the OIC operated by a foot switch.
@@onsceneni Wow that is peculiar. What was with the OIC doing it?
@@onsceneni Do you know where I could find the two of them? audio files?
@user-gp5kl1lo5k The OIC would operate them when going through red lights, busy junctions, overtaking etc.
@@onsceneni wow interesting. I understand why that would happen
We all have pagers now no more sirens
Do they still use these Air Raid Sirens on NI stations? Or is it 100% pager now?
All retained station personnel are now turned out by pager or text only.
Kind of lost it
What a time capsule that is! What a machine!
Brings back memories when I was a retained firefighter
Theiving scum. Our family home had a chimney fire in 2001, for which my late dad called the Fire Brigade. As we lived only a matter of minutes from the Newtownards Station, they were dispatched. A male Fire Fighter went into the roof space to 'inspect' for signs of conflagration, which there were none. The following day, my Dad went up to bring certain items of family and personal worth to my Mum, only to find they had been removed/stolen...Was anyone else in the loft previously? Only one person, the night preceeding....Vile
Where can I buy one of these appliances now a days is this one for sale
There are very few of these fire appliances left. Extremely difficult to come across one.
Bring back the Two Tone Air Horns please.
Definitely agree with you there.
Love the Two Tone Air Horns sound. Absolutely Brilliant
Exactly. Miss not hearing them.
Any new uploads planned? Loved the regular vids dropping. 80s and 90s stuff especially
Many thanks. I hope to add more at some point when I get my old video tapes digitised.
Those beacons seem to be a lot more greener than blue.
They did have a greenish blue appearance when lit but could be seen for miles.
iiiiiiiiiiiii🏑
What’s that hanging off the back ? Looks like a hard suction strainer.
That's the basket off the strainer. Drying off as it was used the night before.
Any idea where the F12 is now?
I believe it is currently being restored but not sure where.
This was 30 years ago. They were not playing games.
Brilliant footage. Thanks for sharing
Many thanks.
ttttttttttt🧶
eeeeeeee©
Remember my dad had this bleeper but when he joined in 1968 it was the siren and the bell in the house
I thought all emergency services in the UK used an encrypted Tetra radio network. Do they have a separate network in Northern Ireland?
Another bizarre youtube recommendation
What a Bone shaker 😆🤣😁😂😄
Shouldn't be having a radio reporting this
Grass. Have you considered they might actually be working for the fire service?
Bore off.
Can you prove its a fire service radio?
Epic!
Must comment again respect to that guy with the shirt and tie under his fire kit
Great vid, what was the reason for sticking with manual gearboxes on these ?
All the early Dennis WrL's that N.I. bought were manual. It was just the later ones that were automatic.
Any idea what year this was please
I think it was around 1997.
Did no one ever think to keep an Alexander Bedford in storage
Kinda Reminds me Of Ponty Pandy Fire Station
The one after Banbridge KIA 8559
Great to hear the Two Tone Air Horns. Glad NIFRS are still using them.🎶🎶
All the appliances now have wailers but can have a two tone setting as well.
Nice reminder of your original alerter. If I had £10 for everytime mine had gone off I would have been watching this on a beach somewhere lol.
Many thanks.
Many thanks.
Siren going aswell class
That's a fantastic parade with the airport truck.

LDZ 3234 former Lisburn 2 worst appliance I ever drove
Like the proper old school Ambulance sitting at the end
Tremendous exercise, hopefully we never have to see it used often here
John 3:16-21 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. 21 But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.
Why didn't the driver of that Volvo fire tender actually put on the vehicle's dipped headlights as well? For this would have undoubtedly made the fire engine both far more conspicuous and easily identifiable to other road users, especially when rapidly rushing through busy urban traffic on an emergency response call.🚒
It’s probably just a daytime/nighttime setting. Back then, if the engine was responding during the day, only the blues would flash, but nighttime responses would obviously call for headlights. The system used by most brigades today is a lot better, as when a fire appliance responds during the day, the headlights also flash. Like you said, headlights do make a fire engine a lot more conspicuous, but flashing headlights certainly do a lot more.
Have you got any videos of the actual turnout system going off Alan?
I'd say some night clubs have those or something similar
I'd love to find one of those!
