    To be honest it reminds me of vietnam. A fresh soldier spends his first battle... chopper down, dozen men already dead. Survives. Next battle: accidentally shoots a civilian, his friend helps him cover it up. Next 5 battles: already being ordered to burn villagr homes and the enemy... whats the enemy again? Somehow still alive... next battle its the same ol slaughter. No more afraid. Hates his enemy for making him feel sympathetic. Tells everyone to shoot everything that moves. Lives another day Finally after being alive for this long... he doesnt want to go “home” this IS “home” The evac begins and he finally shows empathy... not for abandoning civilians to get slaughtered by victor charlies... but for abandoning his “home” When goes back to where he came from, he doesnt have a clue what to do. Confused... maybe i died in Vietnam and god is looking after me... you laugh.

      Jishnu Jayan Not really showing the truth. It just shows that doing whatever you're told, to reach the end, to kill the 'bad guy' and 'be the good guy who gets the girl', is not always met with a 'good' ending. *Don't be a hero.*

      Generic Enemy walker does everything in the game believing the fact that he is doing the right thing that everything happened was not his fault but he was the reason everything happened Same way we see in today's world

    • @NPC_GENERIC_ENEMY_INFANTRY

      Jishnu Jayan Not really. He simply could not handle the atrocities he committed, so he cast a blame on Konrad, parading around like he's the hero. This was not the case. He was clearly the villain at the end, which also counts you as the villain (because the game has a double sided meaning.)

      Generic Enemy what i meant is that the world nowadays are like walker they do something wrong they don't accept it instead they blame on someone Everyone wants to be the good guys but nobody knows what actually is the right thing to do they just do whatever they feel is the right thing

      That wouldn't really work. The whole of Spec Ops: The Line is that it's an indictment of modern military shooter games. The reason it works so well is specifically because it's a video game, with mechanics and choices (sorta). The core themes of the game, exploring the mechanics of modern military shooters, wouldn't really translate into an uninteractige medium like film

      crzkzz I can imagine a soldier in the mist of a sandstorm with a machete in is hands with dead soldiers all around, killed by a machine gun nest that's in the hotel straight in front of him. He walks in with his brothers blood dripping of him while he searches room to room for the machine gun crew forgetting where they were to begin with due to his rage building. He's on the 4th floor and hears the sound of a belt of ammo being fed into a 'possibly' large gun. He walks in the room with the three men in sight not noticing the man behind them. He walks up to the one holding onto ammo boxes that feed the hungry firing beast know as the PKP. Thus saving the man straight through the back, but deliberately missing the spine hitting the lower abdomen. He then kicks him around by using the force of taking the machete out of him and countinously stabbing him in the stomach. The one in control of the machine gun only had time to see his friend getting brutally stabbed in the stomach over and over again before he tried to get up himself, but accidentally tripped over the ammo belt collapsing back on the floor laying on top of the gun. When he brings his head up to look at the enemy machete welding soldier he's meet with a blood caked being that once resembled a human. Before he could do anything the blade in the monsters hand swiped across the prone soldiers face slashing out an eye. With his other one he quickly looks to where the blade could possibly be next, only to find that it was being used to chop into his chest. All he could was watch in horrorifing blood curdling pain as his chest unmercifully being chopped open like pigs head being removed from its body. He didn't last much longer. The last one, the spotter, froze with eyes stilled in his now mangled and deformed bodies of his once known allies. His attention is drawn back to the demon in front of him, he stares into its eyes, but all he can see are bottomless pits of hate, blood, and flesh. He keeps telling himself that he needs to reach for his M9, but his hands won't move they couldn't even he wanted too. What proceeds in the next few moments could only be described of the sounds of blood curdling pain alongside loud crying. With the hint ripping flesh, splitting blood, and the rare occasional sound of what would seem like the inside contents of a human being being forcefully ripped out from the the newly added deep cuts along the stomach. It's over there's no sound of war just the wind carrying along the local sand particals. The unholy creatures objective and revenge is now completed now done in hopes of being regarded as a hero.

  • @Pfudfyr
    @Pfudfyr 10 років тому

    I just love how them gamers whine and bitching on "how dare this fucking game berate me for playing it or enjoying it, or smth." Just like one of them, loading screens writes: "You're still a good person" that's right, that's me, that's i am, I'm a good person, damn straight i am. It is.. it's... it.. This is all YOUR fault, yeah, it is. It's just the game, or developers, or whatever, they have failed to provide a way for a non-lethal means of resolving the conflict. And now, who do they think they are to Fucking! Lecture!! Me??!!11 So, just a bad game, yeah it is. Clumsy controls, boring gameplay mechanic and everything, but most of all - straightforward, linear, railroaded or smth story; badly written above else. I'm playing as a bad guy?? OMFG! How dare they! My choices were meaningless? All of it was predetermined? Now that's just atrocious, yes it is!1 So, all'n'all, with all its ranting and everything, just a bad game, its got to be. Yes? Lol, just Lol.

    A statement a friend of mine told me, and remains true: If you play Spec Ops in its entirety, you will *never* be able to play a Call of Duty ever again without the whole affair becoming visible to you for what it is. You will ask questions. You will *change*. This game will make you think, and that alone shows its power.

    • @Jaimas
      @Jaimas 10 років тому

      Roger Van Zant It's very easy to construe it that way, especially given the circumstances, and you've every right to have that opine; it's quite valid. Word of god states that the intended effect was to feel like the player was railroaded into it by the protagonist. On one hand, they were successful, but on the other, you raise a good point in that it may have been better handled with a slightly easier incline, ergo making the slippery slope harder to see, such as possibly holding back the after-effects until a bit later. Just something to consider. :3

    • @Jaimas
      @Jaimas 10 років тому

      Roger Van Zant Quite a valid complaint, actually.

    • @insertcoolwordhere
      @insertcoolwordhere 10 років тому

      Roger Van Zant Valid complaint from a game design perspective, as I'm pretty sure it's always frustrating to make a choice without full knowledge of the consequences and then have the game tell you you're a bad person for the choice you made. I'd even go as far as to call that straight up bad design. But one of the main themes of the game in terms of the story is justification. Conrad thought it was justified to place dubai under martial law, the CIA leader thought it was justified to silence the city to prevent a war, and walker thinks the use of white phosphorous is justified to save civilians. If you believe at any point that the actions walker takes are justified, then the game is telling you that sometimes, making a decision based on incomplete information is wrong. The player mirrors the characters in this respect, unable to know what choices to make in the muddy darkness of conflict, where motivations are uncertain and any choice you make can have consequences you can't forsee. This isn't to say you frustration us unjustified, as the game still can come across quite preachy. But the designers intent was a little more complex than 'make the player hate himself'.

    • @luisangulo2362
      @luisangulo2362 9 років тому

      ***** Whether it was intentional on Yager's part, that "bad design" works as a wonderful parallel for human intervention in general. Isn't every choice we make limited to partial information and assumptions about the consequences it will have?
