it's rlly weird. i know the guy who originally made this song - he's called Randy, I met him on tumblr lonnnnng ago lmao - at the time he released Resonance, he was still working at a Home Depot. I was really impressed by his process for developing his drum tracks on this album; which he'd record in-full and then totally re-mic the drumset and play it all over again. After three or four times, he's composite the tracks together and that's how he wound up having this super distinct, full-bodied sound to the kit across the album without any fancy production tricks. I also remember hearing the song in a vaporwave bart-simpson-driving-past-a-sunset video on Vine, and that was sorta the surreal beginnings of the song's rise in popularity around that time; 2016-2017ish. His initial reaction to seeing his work go beyond himself was a real treat lmao. I haven't kept up with him in a few years, but I think he's still active on tumblr from time to time? He was meme'd several times on the site, "randy your sticks!!", and I think it got to be overwhelming between the absurd interactions he was having and the constant bombardment of ppl asking for a true sequel to Resonance. It's strange seeing this song continue to make appearances on various corners of the internet; if you haven't already, go check out Odyssey or Falling into Place on his bandcamp!!
