They are a tiny black slug you would hardly know they were there but once inside they just keep munching!!!

Once potted keep in a greenhouse and water as required ensuring they don't dry out over the next few months. If no greenhouse just pot and place outside in a sheltered spot and keep and eye on them. best of luck with it. Happy gardening John

It was slugs Jan it’s a little black slug which there are lots of locally. Bad damage unfortunately.

Thank you Audrey for listening and supporting. The reason behind the netted sides is that my house is a Richel house (French Type) and is really tall which means hot air can get trapped in there, originally the roof was vented with plastic sheets that opened. When I moved the house I didn't want to reinstall that system however it really needs ventilation hence the reason for the nets on the side. It means I have to be careful early in the year with cold but during normal growing season its an airy house so no much pest or disease issues build in there. I hope this makes sense. John

I would not cut yet as they are not planted very long. In the first year almost all the growth will be root growth which you cannot see. After year one you should see strong top growth however to fill out to the size you require it could 4+ years. Best of luck with it 👍

@@mastermygarden9542 so when should I start trimming them. My gardener told me to trim 3-5 inches growth from the front and back sides to make them more denser and leave the top as it is without trimming. should I not touch them as of now or for next 3 years? pl explain how and when should I trim them. My zone is 5b

@@MUJTABA1001 I would lightly trim (3-4 inches ) the top next spring at the end of winter this will help them to fill out.

Hi Alan, no I got it online its a Garland big 3 it is good and suitable for most. If you were germinating seeds or doing cutting requiring a set temp then a controlled one would be better for sure. I use mine sparingly to be honest. Thanks Alan

For sure I see huge differences in compost quality. Klasmann are excellent composts to be fair I have never actually used it but know people who say it is top class.
