Those buffers aren't going to harm your fish unless you're not using them correctly. The buffers are just a lazy way of correcting pH issues and they're basically vinegar, if it drops pH, or baking soda if it raises pH. They're no more chemical than the dihydrogen monoxide we all put in our tanks. That being said they're not really the best option to maintain pH. I do agree that you should probably steer clear of those clarifiers though. They're often made using aluminum sulfate and work by binding to particles in the water and causing them to precipitate out and sink to the bottom and I don't really like the idea of putting metals in my tank I can also explain the low iron glad a bit. I'm normal glad we add iron to improve the strength of the glass but it also decreases the clarity of the glass. Using less iron in the glass makes it more optically clear so you can see through the glass better than normal glass. It also makes the glass a bit weaker so it scratches super easy. You should stay away from using metal scrapers on low iron glass because the metal is likely to scratch the glass. Personally I don't care for it because I don't feel like it improves the clarity enough to justify the price. You can get similar clarity with an acrylic tank and since the low iron glad scratches so easily it's not much different in my opinion
Im glad you know more than I do about the iron in glass. That is pretty cool and I agree that it definitely doesn’t justify the price.
@Bens_Outdoor_Shenanigans I actually only know because I wondered why the price was so different too so I went and hit up some glaziers online and read through some scientific papers about it
Why pay more than a dollar a gallon? For $10, I picked up a used 65-gallon tank that was leaking a little. I resealed it for less than $10 worth of silicon, and it's great. I pick up tanks at Estate Sales, yard sales, and local Facebook Marketplace. These sources have produced two 75s, another 65, two 40s, a 29, and two 10s all since September.
That’s pretty good. I live in a rural area so it’s hard to find used aquariums.
You Gucci fam if the borrad mf hating. “Berry nice” 😂 🥷🏾
Is that good or bad?
Great video! I am a hobbyist currently running 25 tanks and totally agree with everything you said.
Thank you I’m glad there are people out there that agree!
I dont think u need to do much water changes because the type of fish u have. But when u have catfish & plecos, u better believe u gotta do ur water changes every week!!!! Copper?? Wont the copper kill the fish bro?? Never ever heard of that!!! Give me some knowledge homie!!! I wanna learn!! 😊❤ thank u
I will agree plecos are dirty fish. But there are a lot of different kinds of copper treatments but just getting a copper peice is much cheaper and it makes it very hard for alge to grow
So i wont hurt my fish or will them right??
No copper is fine in small amounts.
What are your water parameters.
Not sure
Not sure
Is it usual for water to look this clear?
If you know what your doing then yes
Try Purigen or filter resin, amazing stuff, reusable.
Amazing
Thanks
What kinda plants? I have the same fish in a 10 gallon bit im too brokw to buy real plants
The carpet looks like: dwarf hair grass The stem plants look like : Red stem plant: maybe rotala blood red? Long slim stem plants : maybe juncus repens
Definitely invest in plants total game changer!
That’s a super cool aquarium!! 🙂🐟🐠
Thanks!
How much is it
The coral it was on was an outrageous 100 and something dollars but aiptasia is a very deadly anemone that will kill everything in a saltwater aquarium
@ oh ok
What is the name of that plant in your aquarium? Also the name of your floating plant. Thanks
Floating plant is duckweed, and the is just seeds of Amazon don’t know the name of it.
Nice vid bro. Btw I like your shirt!
Thanks!
Thanks for the video, im on a project to set up a fish room, it would be more a gallery than a breeding room i think, i havent decided what i want, bu i definitely want some Apistos in there.
I’m about to make a video on my breeding side of my fish room and I’d recommend watching that.
Nice video! What type of fish is the white with black spots one of the minute 9:21?
I think polka dot molly/platty. Not 100% sure but if you search that it will come up.
Wow❤️🔮😍
I think people are overrating "no water change" a little bit too much nowadays. I mean, sure people often do it way more than necesary, but a small partial water change 10-15% every month or two or so, helps to clean something that has been acumulating over and over and might be toxic in large amounts. And since its a really small water change, won't change aquarium so much.
I make that video right before a did a big one.
I've been doing this hobby for over 15 yrs I have nvr did water changes nor clean my canisters less then every three months... All I ever do is top it off, but especially if you have planted tanks with the right natural eco system there is no need.... If it's not broke then don't fix it 😉☺️😉
@@christopherweston9365that’s the right mindset couldn’t agree more!
You are very boreing shut your trap and clean your disgusting tank !!
My favorite fish guy
Thank you!
Yea so this guy is just full of it 💀💀 dont take ANY advice from this guy
lol bro it has a lot of views for a reason.
@ben_henry.14 lol, thats not how social media works but ok buddy, fix your aquariums
No response?
@Bens_Outdoor_Shenanigans still yappin, just because jake paul gets a lot of interaction doesnt mean anything
Beautiful
Thank you
@@Bens_Outdoor_Shenanigans you’re welcome
Nemo
good try but most of the coral are dying.
Only one is. What can I do to fix it?
Idk man
Dang.
You got to put that in its own tank until it's better
First things first get that one out of your tank before he kills all the other ones
I don’t have another saltwater tank.
I like to keep external filters because I have kids😂 and they always always over feed the fish.. no matter how many times I tell them not to feed them… 😂… it always depends on the situation
My little sister does the same thing. The tank I gave her has one lol.
What plant is the one taking over? Ive never seen it before. Hyrophila tiger?
Bought it of amazon a year ago I have no idea.
You look like you already have established tanks other than this one. Have you tried using the filter of a seasoned tank in this one? I do that when I start a new aquarium along with a handful of substrate from the seasoned to the new, it takes the cloudiness away. I also would dose liquid carbon from time to time as it speeds the process tremendously. Good luck mate
I just got carbon and charcoal and it’s so weird because the filter had been in a established tank for 2 months and that tank was crystal clear.
Jqeuaha1
What?
Don't put the heater next to the power filter, it can damage ur powerfilter
Really I didn’t know that was a thing.
@@Bens_Outdoor_Shenanigans It's not, you are fine. Unless the thing is actually touching, then yea, but its not. Don't worry about it.
Ok lol. I was kinda wondering.
That tank is WAY too cloudy. There should not be so many fish in a tank until it's well established. That you have a green water thing going on PLUS cloudy water, your chemestry is off. Get that other filter and for awhile at least get some GOOD QUALITY carbonated charcoal to use. That will clear the water pretty quick. A good bio media will help in the long run but that will take some time to get a good layer of bacteria growing. Again establishing a tank, takes months. Also I hope you mention NOT to bred siblings.
lol no siblings are breeding. I learned from a friend that my substrate is deteriorating. Don’t buy from petco I guess.
@@Bens_Outdoor_Shenanigans Deteriorating? What is it exactly? Looks like any gravel that didn't get rinsed. But that would clear fairly quickly. Still the green water, your levels have to be way off. Too much nitrite etc is feeding the suspended algae. Again get some good, FINE, activated charcoal into any cheap box filter, it will clear it up in hours.
It’s sand and you can see the bottom is a little more cloudy than the top. Also some alge. I’ll look into the charcoal and probably do a before and after too.
@@Bens_Outdoor_Shenanigans Ok, I wasn't sure from the video if you had sand or dolomite. Sand... assuming silica sand, most common one sold in pet shops, is absolutely NOT going to do anything. It's fine. It does not deteriorate at all. It IS dusty as all get out when you buy it new, sure hope you dealt with that but even if you didn't, it's only dust, it will filter out. The suspended algae (green water) is a sign that there is too much oh.... waste break down going on. high nitrites, high minerals, you do have some plants in there which is good but clearly not enough. Way to much to go into here, but the tank is clearly not "established." Is this a fairly new set up? That would surely account for it. Again quickest fix, outside filter, even a cheap one would do, and good activated charcoal. Marineland made about the best I ever used, though granted I have been out of the hobby for many decades. "Stuff" changes but not my knowledge of fish. Those few little sponge filters you have are simply not large enough to handle the amount of water and amount of fish in there. Those are great for say a fry tank as they won't suck up the babies. But in a big tank like you have there, nowhere near good enough. On the up side, first thing I look at is how the fish are breathing and so far they don't seem to be in a state of stress. Just don't push your luck. This is very fixable.
Oh one more thing, AFTER you get this issue dealt with of course, a few good bottom feeders I'd recommend. Kuhli loaches are fantastic at getting into places the snails and other fish can't. And I think they are kinda cute. DO get more than one, they are more comfortable if there are a few in there. Another one you might try looking for are spiny eels. Those guys will dive right into fine sand like you have. Very cool. One does fine by itself on that one.
Copper is lethal for mystery snails.
I don’t agree they have been in there for 101 days now with the copper and they are fine, infact they are doing great.
New sub healthy looking angels !
Thank you!
Didn’t know you could get them that cheap!
Great deals!
I see a toad in a future video. 😆
Possibly?
bro ur watter is nasty...
Nice. Why external filter is not used in angel fish tank.
I’m about to put a sump it and I just shut the external off.
Great tips👍subbed i like your planted tank.
I love it to, thanks.
same here for my shrimp tank, i do monthly water changes otherwise i just top it off.
I’m sure they love it.
Why do you change the water? what is wrong with it after each month?
It gets high ppm or parts per million and other things like amonia that could hurt fish in the water.
Do you know any plants that grow in any condition. For me its water Trumpet ,the one with wavy leaves . I have 10 w led baton and about 40-50 plants . They dont grow but dont die either
I would look on amazon for the 3 seed package. It takes like 1 1/2 weeks for them to sprout but they eventually look like that. I would say 5 species per tank is more than enough that tank has 3. I would also say 10w is more than enough. Do you have good aqua soil. I recommend fluvul stratum when it goes on sale and that’s often on amazon.
I forgot to tell you There's no aqua soil Only white gravel, they more like small stone approx 1cm I need specific plants. Like the water trumpet cryptocoryne wendtii was accidental discover after trying a whole bunch of plants
Ok. For floaters please don’t get duckweed go with water lettuce. I would go with really and blade grass that sends runners. Also 1 or 2 java ferns, they are cheap. If your tank is big enough an amazon sord. I have some in my 55 they are so so nice. They grow like crazy are cheap and pretty. And I would get rams horn snails to eat dead plant matter.
yes duckweed is always what people recommend and ALWAYS a regret, trying to get rid of every piece when you realize the mess it makes. I only keep water lettuce too now. jungle val and dwarf sagittaria spread fast for me. The dwarf lily or red tiger lotus is probably the easiest plant I've grown and has vibrant color, had no melting or issues with adapting like a lot of other plants. Thing is constantly shooting up lily pads and big red leaves, no co2 or ferts. Anubias grows in any condition without issues, slow growing but nice green color. For stem plants, basically any stem is easy to grow. Anacharis is cheap and grows fast.
Couldn’t agree more
I may have missed it, but what size is the tank?
20 gallons, not sure I said tank size.
Perfect👌
Thank you!
This gives me hope! I just started a small 2.5g with the same technique! Wish me luck! Your “jungle” looks amazing!!!!
Good luck, only thing about a 2.5 is the water parameters can change. But with light plants and steady feeding i wouldn’t worry.
@ thank you!!!!
Your welcome
But you obviously do top off right? How much and how often?
Yes I do. I couldn’t tell you exactly maybe a gallon a month.
@@Bens_Outdoor_Shenanigans same I top off with a gallon jug once a month but it depends on having a cover vs not having one. If I didn't have a glass top, I'd have to top off a lot more often to keep it where I want it. Stock plastic lids don't help much.
No they don’t they have to may cracks but a plexiglass lid helps a lot.
That copper is probably killing your shrimp.
Nope they love it.
You should have rinced the sand first.😅
It’s to hard to rinse, I also could be lazy.
It depends on a lot of things some breeders will have a nice healthy coral and then they'll put it under stressful conditions and then it'll split and then they'll move it back to the main tank so it really just depends
That’s odd, hope my water conditions are good.
It's nice to come across the fish tank that's natural I'm a aquarium keeping myself ok lots of different types of fish you don't need to do water changes you don't need chemicals this guy is 100% right
I’m glad I’m not the only one!
I dont do water changes myself but some say its a way to add new oxygen to the waTer colum ..true or fulse if you dont have enough plantation? Whats your opinion
@@an-dreekosps9061 definitely false if you have a filter. If you have no plants/very little and no filter or surface water movement you definitely need to do water changes
Hey just FYI , you didn’t rinse that sand cause that brand you should and also your rocks are to close to glass. You will never get a magnet between it and that will be a dead spot for detritus. Also no lights in first month or so is wanted / needed, due to dry rock and sand used , will grow nuisance algae very quickly. Was there any nitrifying bacteria ever added/seeded to tank? To secure animals health , should try to use live rock if at all possible. And lastly , those are not the hosting type clowns , mainly skunk , tomato, Clarki clowns, Percula and ocellaris clowns usually don’t host. I suggest a lil more research. I have tons more I just feel I’m blowing it up as is 🤨
I had a tight budget and wanted to make a video, probably going to make another tank and add/do all of what you said other than the live rocks.
I do appreciate the advice greatly!
@@Bens_Outdoor_Shenanigans Check your fish, make sure they arent sick. My clowns from petco had brookynella which can kill them fast.
